I am on a trip to visit the in-laws (anybody in St Louis know of a good toy run location?) and so i downloaded the radio Dramas for Star Wars and Empire.

It got me to thinking,  during the OT are Han and Luke really close friends or are they just good teammates?

In the movies they seem to be closer than they do in the Radio Dramas.

Thoughts?

FROM HASBRO..........

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   Contacts:   REDACTED INTENTIONALLY
Draft for approval – February 8, 2011

HASBRO LAUNCHES NEW G.I. JOE TOY LINE TO CELEBRATE “30 YEARS OF G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO”

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (February XX, 2011) – After nearly three decades, the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA battle rages on and legions of fans couldn’t be happier. When the fight between these two foes commenced in the early 1980’s – as G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO – it brought the world’s first action figure to life for a whole new generation of fans. To celebrate this milestone, Hasbro (NASDAQ: HAS) is introducing new and updated versions of many fan-favorite characters, vehicles, and play patterns from the past 30 years. Hasbro’s 2011 G.I. JOE line will include the re-launch of 12” A REAL AMERICAN HERO figures, re-imagined versions of classic 3.75” figures and vehicles, and new characters from “G.I. Joe Renegades,” the hit animated series that premiered on the Hub last Fall.

Hasbro invented the action figure category when it launched its G.I. JOE brand more than 45 years ago. The 2011 G.I. JOE line of action figures and vehicles lives up to that legacy with new sculpts showcasing favorite G.I. JOE and COBRA characters. Fans will love adding the new STORM SHADOW, FLINT, and SCARLETT figures, among many others, to their collections and kids will enjoy the characters from the “G.I. Joe: Renegades” program showing up in action figure form.

The brigade of 3.75” figures will have iconic vehicles to add to their arsenal, including a new version of the iconic H.I.S.S. tank and the SKYSTRIKER JET. The original SKYSTRIKER JET, released early in the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA series, has been at the top of fans’ wish lists since it was discontinued in the mid 1980’s. It will come with a 3.75” pilot to help navigate G.I. JOE through treacherous COBRA territory. Also, debuting is the BLACK DRAGON Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft taken directly from the new programming.

Hasbro knows how important real life heroes are for kids of all ages. So to help honor the heroes we see and hear about every day, Hasbro has created the 12” A REAL AMERICAN HERO action figure assortment for its 2011 G.I. JOE line. Each figure will have the distinct look of G.I. JOE and will come with authentic gear and apparel to represent both military and civil forces.

The 12” line recruits one final figure to its 2011 ranks: the 12” Army Paratrooper. This figure will come equipped with a working parachute, gear insignia, and accessories.

Yo Joe!

Joe Defender / G.I. Joe Renegades - The Toys
« on: July 23, 2010, 09:16 AM »
With the announcement that GI Joe will be moving towards the "Renegades" storyline and style in 2011. We can use this area to discuss this new direction.

I guess I am the old crusty fan that dislikes change.  The animation style is ugly and the characters look Clone Wars lame to me.

Why is it that Gl Joe ran from 1982-199whatever without a big stylized change?   Sure there were theme changes but 1983 swivel arm Shortfuze looks fine with 1990 Duke.

To say something positive at least there will a ton of vehicle possibilities.

As far as the series goes I will hold off on opinions but how unimaginative is the anti-hero against the government and big business concept they are going with?

Put your cool Joe Customs here.  Why?  Because I love good customs and I am too busy/lazy to search the web looking for them....

I don't do customs myself (insurance won't cover me after the drimmel incident)...but I can take pics of the ones I own...

I got Green Arrow a month ago, but today I got the entire first wave: Superman, Green Lantern, Lex Luthor and Sinestro.

I have not cracked open the case yet, but I will get pics up later if anybody is interested.

I can't wait to see what the removable  Cowl (sp?) Batman (the headgear did not show at Toy Fair) AND the Figure that was not shown, but the designers really were upset was not there... I was sworn to secrecy but let's just say, he may have been there but faster than my camera could catch him.

Joe Defender / Hasbro GI Joe Q&A
« on: March 2, 2010, 10:18 AM »
Ok Joes.....

The new format for QnA's is out and if you have seen other sites, they may mentioned it, but for the casual Joe fans here at JD.com, here is the rundown...

Every site still gets to ASK 3 questions.  However, they will only answer 1 question per site.  The rest of the questions will be put through the "filter" and only a handful of others will be answered.   They will send the answers back to all sites at the same time in a list format.

Just recently they have also added a few "hints" as to how to ask questions.  There has been rumbling about these, but I for one am thrilled to see them.  They want questions about product and plans, not production numbers and profit margins.  They want questions about the line, not questions that are veiled slaps about how Fans could run their company better than they do.

So I propose a "Challenge" here for us at JD.com... we are going to ask our questions.  I am going to ask one (because what is the point of owning a website if you don't get to do fun stuff) the other 2 questions are for you guys to ask.   IF they pick the question you submit, then JD.com will send you a Figure or Small vehicle that is currently available at Retail.   IF you get yours answered 2 times in a row, the 2nd time you will get a Medium vehicle (there are only 5 QnA sessions this year so new Vehicles should be available by then).

PM me the questions because I don't want your good question getting sucked into the ether.  But please put a "PM sent" post in here.

AFTER Question submission Deadline (March 8, but we are turning ours in Friday) I will post the questions I got.   I will let Jesse and Jeff pick which Joe questions (besides mine) get asked so that there is not a chance for anyone to think I accepted "lame" questions so that I did not have to have a contest winner. (Although, our guys ask the best questions so there is no chance to even get a lame question.)

Get your questions in.  I already have mine in mind.

Oh, and if they pick my questions all you guys owe me my weight in Joes...it seems only fair.

We are going to have a Customs Contest.  The Rules and Theme are still being decided, but I want to know what our members would feel would be a suitable prize or prizes?

In the past on other sites I have an ownership interest in, we have given products, gift cards to Target/Wal Mart, store credit at Broken Arrow toys and even had the winner's Custom Cast so they could have a copy (not for sale) of their work.

So post it here or drop me a PM.  I love Customs (although have ZERO skill in doing it).  I want 2 Contests a Year at least.

So get the word out to the other forums as well.

I do plan several levels of prizes as well.  So not just first place, but Forum Favorites and a Judges prize as well.

I know freedom isn't free, but is it Tax free? And if not what rate?

On a less serious note....

Saw some pics of movie figs at the tank.... WOW how UN-visually impressive is the ALL BLACK "Terra Viper" is...the only think they can mess up is the silver bracelets..  oh and it is a croc master prepaint...  I won't go so far as to say death of the line, but this plus the combo of Hoth Rebel Troopers could swing my interest back to SW...might even just buy or start my own SW website, since I'll be saving so much $$ on Joes.

I will admit the Shipwreck looks decent for a DDP-esque Shipy

Am I the only one watching this?

There is only 1 other Soccer/Football/Futbol thread in the entire Sports Forum....and it was World Cup 2006 Fantasy League.

I'm not from Europe, don't live in Europe, so I don't have a strong rooting interest...but I will watch every game they play on TV.

Anybody else watching or have a Team in this one?

I will probably root for Germany since England did not even make it into the tournament.
