The Vintage Collection / Re: 2011 "Vintage" Collection Wave 6

Lot of folks have been mentioning the lack of weathering on the Dagobah Landing Luke. Now it definitely sucks that Hasbro didn't go the distance on the paint app, so I had to do it for them...

This is just a simple black/brown wash. I'm sure there are folks who can do a better job than I, but here's a basic idea of how it would look if Hasbro or you did it. The picture doesn't do it justice but the weathering is deep in person. Worth giving it a shot to those who don't want a day-glo orange Luke.

Also I believe the purpose of the wing men are to provide additional aft shielding for the pilot making the run. They need to be in a close relative position to the lead pilot to ensure they take the laser shots from the pursuing TIEs. Essentially they're sacrificial lamb to give the lead time to take the shot.

Vintage Kenner / Interesting display idea for loose figures
« on: March 5, 2011, 06:06 PM »
The recent Target TVC 9-pack gives those looking for unique ways to display their loose figures and interesting way to do so...

The plastic tray was removed and each figure is standing on the bottom inside of the bubble. The figures are all on REAL stands and if I were to make this a permanent display I'd consider hot gluing the stands to the bubble.

While never a replacement for a true ESB 3-pack, this is a fun way to display loose figures.

There is a heap of Luke Jedi info here: http://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t504-craigy-s-luke-jedi-last-updated-02-07-2010

That's an amazing amount of information. The guy who put that together did a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing.

I was able to recently obtain a POTF Luke Stormtrooper recently thanks to a really good seller on RS. I've finally been able to complete the run of all movie carded figures loose!

I was really excited in getting this figure. Here he is with all his POTF brethren...

Just need Blue Snaggletooth and the original 96 will be complete!

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2011 "Vintage" Collection Wave 5

I just came back from my local Wal-Mart where I found 4 cases of this wave - the boxes were marked W1R1 for Wave 1 Revision 1.

I got to open up all 4 cases and the kicker of this revision is that the Jedi Luke in the case comes with the updated cardback...

This was the first time for me seeing the cardback, I haven't heard anyone else make mention of it. It's a solid cardback overall imo - to match a great figure, I had to buy 3.  ;D - but Hasbro did not correct the silver border around the nameplate. The figure itself is the variant/correction with the belt hole for the lightsaber hilt (which itself has the peg).

The case came with the following (1 figure of each)...

ANH "Yavin Ceremony" Han
ANH Luke
ANH R5-D4
ANH Sandtrooper
ESB Stormtrooper
ESB Darth Vader
ROTJ Jedi Luke
ROTS Yoda
ROTS Cmdr. Gree
ROTS Darth Vader
ROTS Utapau Clone
ROTS General Grievous

Totally bummed about the Lando. Nice to get the upgrade, but the card back is very disappointing.

It's a bit dull but at least it shows him with the cape.  I think a Falcon shot would not have it?  But I know what you mean.  I think for the wave the Skiffmaster looks the best.  Then again I've been wanting this figure for a long time.  I'm just hyped to finally be getting it.

The photo used for the Lando cardback is the same one used for the original vintage POTF figure...

This will be the first POTF figure in the TVC line, nicely done.

Not a fan of these mixed movie waves, the PT figures make this somewhat of a yawn wave.

Just completed another great deal with Michael. Quick shipping and easy to talk out details. Definitely go with Dr. P, he's highly recommended!

A nod to the vintage design would be nice, Hasbro could do alternate heads one with the headset and one without. Here's how one with a headset could look (the head is from the TSC Endor Soldier), a custom I made over 4 years...

Something like this with better articulation and improved helmet would be a great nod to both the vintage figure and the cardback itself.

Thanks guys, it was a good year for vintage for me. Hopefully next year will be better.

McMetal - I hope you get that worked out with the Ewok Battle Wagon. Very suspect activity by the seller, more proof that using eBay is hazardous.

Dale - thanks for answering the question on the AT-AT Driver variant, you beat me to the punch. I was doing some online searching for proof of the variant and surprisingly couldn't find much even though I knew of it for years.

As for the Jedi Luke Snap Cape, according to this variation list on the Archive, the Snap Cape did come with the Green saber. I know the RS link posted references it, but I don't hold the RS Vintage guide highly when it comes to variations as it disregards, ignores, or even attempts to discredit a lot of documented variants. It is good though for quality pictures, so it does have its uses.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2010 "Best Of" The Vintage Collection
« on: December 28, 2010, 11:39 AM »
The entire ROTJ wave line would be in my opinion the very best of the Vintage Collection. In fact I think it's Hasbro's best wave of figures ever - great assortment of characters, detailing, sculpting, articulation, and features make this wave downright awesome. If Wedge had made this wave, it would have been legendary!

Also add in the Target exclusive Hoth (Attack on / Defense of) battle packs, for $40 you get 3 great figures and excellent vehicles/diorama pieces. A pretty good deal considering 3 figures cost approx $21 individually so the AT-ST and Cannons are less than $20! Quite the value if you ask me.
