The Wookiee Arcade / Visceral's unannounced Star Wars game
« on: April 3, 2014, 02:28 PM »
Visceral's mysterious SW game is, to me, the most-intriguing one to come out of the EA deal. Even moreso than DICE's Battlefront. This hire may provide a little insight into what kind of game we might be getting:

Polygon: Amy Hennig joins EA's Visceral Games to work on Star Wars

Quote
Steve Papoutsis, vice president and general manager at Visceral, made the announcement in a post on EA's The Beat blog.

"Amy has long been recognized as one of our industry's top visionaries, and is coming off an amazing run as the Writer and Creative Director of the Uncharted franchise," Papoutsis wrote. "But her contributions go beyond the games she helped create at Naughty Dog and at Crystal Dynamics, where we worked together many years ago. As both a colleague and friend, I've always admired her approach to creative development — focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player. This fits in perfectly with what we're trying to do here at Visceral and Amy's going to help us continue in our pursuit to make the most thrilling, immersive games in the world."

Hennig started her video game development career at Electronic Arts in the early '90s. On Twitter, she spoke of her desire to work on the Star Wars franchise at EA, saying, "It's a privilege to have the opportunity to contribute to the Star Wars universe, after it's had such a formative influence on my life."

Amy Hennig was the head writer and creative director of the Uncharted series at Naughty Dog, and will be the creative director on the new Star Wars game.

Visceral Games is best-known for their Dead Space series. If their Star Wars game has anywhere near the quality of their first Dead Space game, we should be in for a treat. Dead Space is fantastic. One of the best games from the last generation.

I get wanting to have really quality-looking/articulated eyes with a little bit of realistic depth to them, but at the expense of a normal head with a removable hat? I'd rather take my take my chances with painted eyes.

Fantastic photos. Great articulation and accessories. The overall likeness isn't so great, though. He's way too skinny. Decent face, but the lack of any stubble makes him look more like an older Han Solo than Indiana Jones. Then there's the non-working holster and the weird head/non-removable hat due to the eye thing. . .

Max Factory has incorporated a separate “eye piece” that is accessed behind the face. This allows for a far more accurate paint application of the eye details. For good measure, they include an extra – just in case.

This is bizarre.

I've got a gut feeling that Carol and Tyreese will be the deus ex machina of this episode. They'll show up out of the blue to save someone's ass.

And I wouldn't be all that surprised if Michonne bites it. The way they've been playing up the bond between her and Carl this season, it seems like maybe they're setting her up for a really shocking death to get people talking.

Eh, I don't really care who dies as long as Maggie isn't one of them. Which means she's probably good as gone.

Looking at us being at the end, my 3 most likely to die characters are:

-Carol
-Beth
-Bob

I have a different reasoning on each one...  I'll probably be wrong because other than Herschel I haven't guessed much right.

I'll give you Bob (he seems pretty expendable), and maybe even Beth (although I think she's probably safe), but you really think they'd kill off Carol in the finale? After that last episode she was in, and with whatever issues between her and Rick, and her and Daryl? She's become a fairly-interesting character, and I think they have more stuff for her to do in the future.

I hope Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene are the first to get eaten in Terminus because they are all horribly ridiculous characters.

Killing off those awful girls is the best thing this show has done all season.

THIS COLLECTION CONTAINS R2-D2, C-3PO AND CHEWBACCA (CHEWBACCA IS NOT A DROID???) MAYBE THAT'S WHY THIS IS THE ONLY ONE ON EBAY, SOME KIND OF PACKAGING ERROR? MESSAGE ME AND LET ME KNOW.

...

i just noticed as i was looking at the pics i posted online, and i had to check the box, c-3po's right leg is silver??? i never noticed that before. it is silver at the knee down on his right leg. please message me about this as well, why is his lower half of his right leg silver, another packaging error??? i'm beginning to think that this is more rare than i thought. if you look at the pics, on his left leg, it has a black joint, and on the right leg, it's a silver joint with a silver lower leg.

I'm gonna start tweeting how much I like GB2 now.  :-X  :-*

You really should probably not do anything else in life, Tweeting or otherwise, until you watch Groundhog Day.

Seriously, what the ****, mang?

42
Not in a million years could I see Bill Murray agreeing to be in a movie with a CG Harold Ramis.

Murray and Ramis barely even talked to each other for twenty years after a falling out they had during Groundhog Day. Maybe that's the real reason Murray wouldn't do Ghostbusters 3, because he refused to work with live-action Ramis. Maybe he was just waiting Ramis out, and now that Ramis is gone, they can start work on GB3 with a CGI Egon, or recast the role, or just write the character out entirely. They have several scenarios to work with, and on the bright side, none of them can possibly be as bad as Ghostbusters 2.

More on "Darth Icky":

Quote
i heard a story from some people who worked on a pretty high profile...ancillary star wars entertainment product ....

anyway they heard word that lucas was very excited about the project and was, in fact, so excited about it that he had come up with a brand new character expressly for this project that would become part of the official star wars canon, etc.

obviously everyone was really excited.

the day came for lucas to meet with them. lucas coming to their offices was basically like the ******' pope or president coming, huge deal, big preparation, everyone's buzzing around etc etc

so they finally sit down with lucas in the conference room, and he starts by saying how impressed he was, how he wanted this product to be a real core part of star wars lore, blah blah blah...

then he says, "So the character I've created for the [project] is..."

*everyone leans forward, anticipating with bated breath*

"....Darth...Icky"

so they're like, "Darth...Icky"

and he's like, "yes, Darth Icky - I-C-K-Y" and begins to explain the character

so then after they were all freaking out like how the **** are we gonna write around this retarded character etc, eventually they just drug their feet on it for long enough that lucas had moved on to his next brilliant idea and forgot about it and the public never knew of Darth Icky.

I'm currently working on my first photonovel, centered around my new character, Darth Gag-Me-With-A-Dead-Smurf

I heard off-the-record that there were sequels to all those games in the works, but Jim Ward caught word of that old thread here and canceled them just out of spite.
