Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Major DVD Release List for Fall '03
« on: November 2, 2003, 09:16 PM »
All right, kids, here are the deals for Finding Nemo - coming out Tuesday:

Best Buy: $15.99
-Free Finding Nemo Case Logic CD/DVD Wallet instantly, with purchase of Finding Nemo DVD.  Minimum 65 per store.  No rainchecks.  In store only.

Target: $14.99
-Save $1.50 on 5-pk. or larger Orville Redenbacher's popcorn with purchase of Finding Nemo on VHS or DVD.

Circuit City:  $14.99
-Free Finding Nemo mousepad with purchase of the DVD

(They'll also give you 10% off the price of any DVD player with the purchase of Finding Nemo)

Ultimate Electronics: $14.95
(Don't think that too many people have UE stores where they live, though)

Toys 'R' Us: $19.99
-Blah.

Wal-Mart:  ???
-As always, no idea on what their "official" price will be, but I would expect them to come in at less than $14.99, to beat Target and Circuit.

Costco: $17.99

Sam's Club: $19.24

Amazon:  $19.49

And, I believe that the disc has both the widescreen and the wrong-screen versions on it, so don't worry about trying to find the wide.

More later. . .

Methinks you did some cautious editing before posting...

Well, he was stroking something, but it wasn't his keyboard, I'll bet!   :o ;D

. . .I'm sorry.

And I was wondering if I'd get any mentions of Shawshank with that pic of Raquel.

Who were some of the other girls?  Haven't watched the movie in a while.

I think I remember Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe, but I could be wrong on MM. . .

Beatles Anthology Volume One Disc One
Beatles Anthology Volume One Disc Two
Beatles Anthology Volume Two Disc One
Beatles Anthology Volume Two Disc Two
Beatles Anthology Volume Three Disc One
Beatles Anthology Volume Three Disc Two

Reminds me of somethin' else that's coming out here in a few weeks:

This is basically Let It Be as it was originally recorded, without all the crap that Phil Spector added in later.  Well, kinda.  They've also changed around the track-listing a little bit--gone are "Dig It" and "Maggie Mae", and added is "Don't Let Me Down".

Here's the track-listing for the new one:

1. Get Back
2. Dig A Pony
3. For You Blue
4. The Long And Winding Road
5. Two Of Us
6. I've Got A Feeling
7. One After 909
8. Don't Let Me Down
9. I Me Mine
10. Across The Universe
11. Let It Be

(And here's the original track-listing, for comparision:)

1. Two of Us
2. Dig a Pony
3. Across the Universe
4. I Me Mine
5. Dig It
6. Let It Be
7. Maggie Mae
8. I've Got a Feeling
9. One After 909
10. The Long and Winding Road
11. For You Blue
12. Get Back

And there's also a bonus disc included--I believe it's a DVD of vintage studio stuff--performances, recording, interviews, stuff like that--have no idea how long it is or anything.

Releases November 18.

Amazon page - $12.98

Between this and the DVD Anthology set released earlier this year, it's been a pretty good year for Beatles fans.

Lost Dogs'll be cool, as will the Live at the Garden DVD set, also due that day.  PJ overload.

Next week's got the live Coldplay DVD/CD set, which should be great, as they're a great live band, in my opinion.

We'll also get, as I mentioned in the hotties thread, Afterglow, the first new album from Sarah McLachlan since 1997's Surfacing.  You can listen to it in it's entirety for free at www.Vh1.com right now, if you'd like.

There's also a box set of Johnny Cash material taken from all of his American Recordings sessions, over the past nine or ten years.  Five discs total, I believe--four discs of rarities, and one disc of "the best of" the four AR albums.

Comes out November 25th, and should be a fitting tribute to the Man in Black. . .

What's the latest, Matt?

It seems like things are finally starting to get settled down out there, thankfully.

You guys have been in my thoughts since it all started. . .

(Do you like that title?  "What's spinning?"  I thought that sounded at least somewhat original--I mean, GH has the "What are you listening to?" thread, and there's a "What's in your CD player?" thread at R-------m, and I think there might have even been one here before, too.  But what the hell.)

Now playing:  Aimee Mann, "Calling It Quits", from Bachelor No. 2.  Good stuff.

Any recent purchases worth noting?  Anything good coming up?

Are you like me?  Do you like the rock n' roll?  Yuh. . .  yuh got any gum?

Miss Zemanova

Ha-ha.  Exactly how long did it take you to find a "decent" pic of her, Scott?

My goodness.

Oh, and I forgot to mention:

I wondered how long it would take before some lame-o posted yet another pic of Shania.

Not that she's not attractive, but aren't there like, a ton of other hot girls to post pictures of?

Hate to do it to you, Scott, but you're getting Carnor-ized:

Nice going indeed :'(  Its sad to think you might have been Mister Liz Phair if only you would have talked to her...

I can understand the urge not to though...Brad Johnson when he played for the Vikes sat at a table right next to me once and  people were bugging him all through his meal.  This is when he is eating for crying out loud.  I left him alone and I think that is only right

Yeah, but that's a little different, though--bugging a guy while he's trying to have a meal is one thing, but saying hello backstage isn't nearly as bad.  You're supposed to mingle!  I think, I just felt really self-conscious, and just like a big ol' geek, and didn't want to bother her from whatever she had to do--not that she would have anything to do, anyway, after her show.   ::)  What was funny was that my buddy, who had only heard of her from me talking about her on the way down to Dallas, actually did talk and joke around with her a little bit.

I did manage to get a set-list, though. . .

And, man, you guys should have seen what she was wearing that night.  It was like this kind of baggy sweatshirt top-thing, and some black, satin-type hot pants, and fishnet stockings, and boots.  Holy geez. . .  (Where's that drooling smiley?  Someone add it on here.)   ;)

There are pics of her from this summer, although not in that same outfit.  I'll see if I can find them. . .

Did you guys see Liz Phair re-enacting the fake orgasm scene from When Harry met Sally on VH1's I Love the 80s Strikes Back?  Good stuff.

Oh hell yeah.  I've had a crush on her for almost ten years, and I stopped, mid-step, as I was walking past the TV during that scene.

"Funny" story regarding me and Liz Phair:

An old roommate of mine is a roadie for the Flaming Lips, and they were on tour earlier this summer with Liz as the opener.  They came to Oklahoma City on one night, and went to Dallas the next (and I went to both).  Well, my roommate remembered me playing Liz's albums while we lived together, so he was going to do what he could to arrange us to "meet" at the show.

So, while they're setting up for her set, he brings her out to one of the wings of the stage, and me and Liz wave at each other--like we've been friends for years or something.  A little later, during her set, I was taken backstage to get suited up as a furry animal for the Lips show (which is where my avatar comes from), and as I'm getting the suit on, here comes Liz backstage.  We made eye contact and everything.

But--hey--who's too much of a ***** to say anything?  That's right, me.

We kind of brushed shoulders a couple more times that night, and I was just so trying not to be "that guy", that I never even had the balls to say as much as hello to her.  The buddy I went with had a camera with him, and we all took pictures with Wayne from the Lips, and even Steve Burns from Blue's Clues, but never even a pic with Liz.

I regretted that as soon as we were driving back home that night, and still do today.

Nice going, Virex.   :-X

Finally got around to watching A Mighty Wind and I couldn't agree more on that selection

You know, I liked her in that, but I thought she was cuter as the white-trash Dairy Queen employee Libby Mae Brown in Waiting for Guffman.

"Who's on top, and who's on bottom now?!?!"  Heh.

Old-school hottie:

Raquel Welch

My wife loves Sarah McLachlan she is a definite hottie

Yeah she is.  Tell your wife that she can listen to the whole new album for free at www.VH1.com, if she wants.  I've listened to the first four tracks, and so far, so good. . .

Back to your regularly scheduled hotties:

Parker Posey (cute as a damn button)
