The Legacy Collection '08-'10 / Sub-Line Ideas?
« on: November 9, 2008, 10:17 PM »
Y'know, I really enjoyed the McQuarrie sub-line last year, and there's nothing really like it this year.  I like the idea of a small group of odd characters that make up their own little line, and I've been thinking about one other one I'd like to see.

I'd live the see "real" versions of all of the Holo Chess characters.  I'd like one a wave, in a package that was kind of different.  Sure, two of them would be really really big (Hermi Odle of Muftak big) but the rest could be average size.  It wouldn't be for everyone, but isn't that a sub-line is for?  Wildy obscure stuff that doesn't need to be made in large numbers?

Anyway, now that we actually have McQuarrie figures, those are my new dream toys!

What about you?

Well of the Souls / TOD Wave sharing
« on: October 19, 2008, 08:45 PM »
Jusr a thought...I'm sure that the TOD wave will show up somewhere odd.  I think I hard that Meijers has had it?  Anyway, in NY, we've got no Meijers.  So here's what I propose---  Any TOD figures that anyone finds, and can spare, get put up  for trade or sale in this thread first.  That way we can all help each other out, and we have one small, very focused goal.--Mike

Watto's Junk Yard / Question About Zombies!
« on: October 15, 2008, 11:14 PM »
Yes, Zombies.

I'm currently developing a story about zombies and I neded some feedback.  In the Romero films, the Zombies return to places that are important to them.  My friend seems to think that this idea first came up in the "I am Legend" novel. (yes, they're vampies, but zombie like..) My question is this, is the idea of returning to a place specific to one creator, or is this accpted Zombie "lore" at this point?

Any thoughts or examples of this showing up in other movies/books would be great.---Mike

Well of the Souls / Indy 5-New Figures?
« on: October 4, 2008, 04:48 PM »
Big article in the LA Times about Lucas and Ford moving forward with Indy 5.  I wonder if we'll get new figs, or if the line was such a disaster that Habsro wouldn't bother.

The Legacy Collection '08-'10 / 2008-What's Left
« on: September 29, 2008, 09:42 PM »
Just curious...I've picked up the newest Legacy (repaint) wave, and Clone Wars wave 2.  Outside of the ROTS wave, are there any other NEW figures coming out this year?  I don't collect repacks and I kind of stunned that it's only Sept 30, and there's little left for the year.

Any chances of the ANH wave hitting at x-mas?

If it realy is this slow, I may find something else to buy for a little while.

The Legacy Collection '08-'10 / Indiana Jones in Legacy?
« on: September 18, 2008, 10:17 PM »
Just curious...it looks like the Indiana Jones line is dead, and the wave Hasbro showed at Comic-Con will never come out.  Many of you don't collect IJ, but how would you feel if Hasbro packed 1 (2x) IJ figure in each case of Legacy? ( Simialr to what they do with Galactica in Titanium...)

Personally, I love the current IJ figures, and would be all over this idea.

Any thoughts?

Watto's Junk Yard / My New Book is #1!!
« on: August 31, 2008, 09:47 PM »
Update-Oct 29-I was just informed that my book will be #1 on the NYTimes Bestseller's list on November 9!

Update Oct 27---the New York Post wrote this article about me.  Am I really that ugly?

http://www.nypost.com/seven/10272008/news/regionalnews/teachers_gig_goon_lighting_135459.htm

Sept. 18-the book is still moving.  It will be #7 this weekend.  It's available in Target now.  In the book section there is a "Book Marked for Kids" endcap,  it's right at the bottem, next to Seinfeld's book! And I know you guys are all in Target at least once a day week.

Update, Sept 3.  I was just informed that my book will be #8 on next weekend's (Sept 14) New York Times Bestseller's List for Children's Books!  I've been working towards this day since 1993!!!---

This falls into the "Tooting My Own Horn" catagory...

My new book, "Goodnight Goon: A Petrifying Parody" is starting to hit stores.  It's a monster flavored, page-by-page, send up of "Goodnight Moon."  It will be in stores everywhere.  In fact, Target has put it in their "Book Marked for Kids" program and it will have a special endcap towards Halloween.

It's a great read alound, and it's even got a few Star Wars nods in it!  Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or would like to get a signed copy!  It's also available from amazon, of course.---Mike Rex

The Legacy Collection '08-'10 / COMIC-CON 2008
« on: July 7, 2008, 12:36 AM »
I know, I know...it's still a few weeks away, but what do we expect to see?  And....should we start gettting our questions together for the Hasbro Q&A?

I hope to see the next few waves of Legacy (I'm hoping the ANH wave is done), Clone Wars, and Indy.

Mods, feel free to mive this, I put it here because it's the most active forum.

I was wondering if it would ever be possible for costumers to check a store's inventory on line.  For instance, before going out to 2-3 TRU's one could go online, go right into the store's day-to-day inventory and see which of those stores has the assortment that the perosn is looking for.  Sure, you'll never be able to track individual figures, but new assortments, ships, evolutions, and comic packs would be easy.

Well of the Souls / Is the line a Success?
« on: May 20, 2008, 08:58 PM »
I know it's only been about two weeks, but I'm curious if people are seeing this line as "successful?"

On one hand I see some stores picked clean, which would make me think that they are moving fast, but I don't see the restocking happening, which makes me wonder if the retailers aren't into it.  I thought for sure the pegs would be loaded this week with the relase of the film.  Any thoughts?

Well of the Souls / Spoiled by Star Wars?
« on: May 3, 2008, 08:55 PM »
I was wondering if, as collectors, are we spoiled by Star Wars?  I was out again doing some errands and stopped to look for the few Indy fgiures I couldn't find on thursday.   Target had nothing.  Couldn't find them at all. 2 Kay Bees had nothing but some Lego.  TRU was cleaned out, they had only 6 basic figures and 3 deluxes left.  If this was SW, there's no way that 3 days after launch stores would either not yet have the stuff, or be out of it already.

I really hope this line continues, but I have my doubts. I would definitly pay a premium to get more obscure stuff if Entertainment Eart or some other web retailer stepped in.

Watto's Junk Yard / Depression?
« on: April 26, 2008, 10:47 PM »
I'm going to keep this short and to the point...I've been going through some very rough times lately and feeling very anxious and sad.  I'm at the point where I'm considering a pharmalogical solution, and I'm worndering if anyone has any experiences with anti-depressants.  They terrify me, but I need to do something...Feel free to PM me, if you want to keep things private.  Any help at all would be great.---Mike

Other Collectibles / Star Wars Marvel Legends?
« on: April 20, 2008, 10:18 PM »
From that RS site...

"Rumored 2008 product...
024297 - $19.99 SW Marvel Legends 2pc (Is this just in the wrong category or might this be the articulated larger scale that folks have been wondering about for years now? Time will tell.)"

Wow.  I was just looking at the Conan Legends 2 pack.  Those things are articulated like crazy.  Maybe Hasbro will use the first Marvel Comics to make some larger scale SW figures.  Hopefully, they'll use a realistic paintjob!  Who first?  Luke and Vader?

The Vintage Collection '10-'13 / Big Items of the Future!
« on: April 10, 2008, 05:28 PM »
Wow.  First the AT-TE and the incredible huge-o Falcon.  Hasbro has gone far beyond my wildest hopes for large scale items.  Lets just say these things sell really well, what other large items could they produce?

Will they still be gunshy about playsets using the excuse that only large vehicles sell?

As I said in am earlier post, Hasbro is catching on that there is some serious money to be spent on large, QUALITY items...maybe they want the people they've lost to MR and GG back!

Any thoughts?

The Sailbarge is the only big vehicle that I can imagine having enough playability to be considered.
