The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VII
« on: January 21, 2014, 11:40 AM »
I still don't see how this makes it out in 2015...hope I am wrong, but I bet anything that gets pushed back.
I'm with you.  This gets pushed back to May 2016, which should have been the date in the first place.

Also read the news/rumor today that Johnny Depp met with Marvel recently regarding the role of Dr. Strange.

With Timothy Burton as director with Helena Bonham Carter in some role.
And he can fight Mephisto and his gang of shabbily dressed clowns!

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Is 2014 the "Last Hurrah"?

I'd say it is a given, assuming Ford, Fisher and Hamill are back, that there will be "evolution" sets of the ANH appearance of the characters along with the EVII appearances.  Hasbro loves that crap.

Any league would LOVE the drama that the NFL had this past weekend.  How many games were meaningful in some way all the way down to the final snaps of the games?

At those prices, it better smell like a Taun Taun both on the outside and on the inside!
Post of the year candidate here.  Well done, sir.

The Vintage Collection / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting?

I've noticed that we've been able to find everything at retail (usually several times) - things are restocked consistently.  Plus, there is a nice variety to the line.  Sure, there are multiple versions of the Turtles, but she has at least a dozen villains/supporting characters as well in the first year+ of the line.

This echoes my experience with a different line I have been getting for my son, Disney's Planes.  There was one character, Rochelle, that was packed at 1 per case for one wave.  My SW experience warned me to expect a tough find on this one.  I've seen this one on three or four different occasions, and it isn't because these things sit.  Every store we frequent regularly turns over their stock (pegs empty then full then empty again).

I think other companies "get" it where Hasbro just doesn't.

I think that the league can expect more injuries like Gronk's as the trade off for taking away head injuries.  That said, I think the strategy on taking down a guy like Gronk who is so big is to go for the legs.  Unfortunate for all of us NE fans, but a perfectly legit hit.  Gronk's history of injuries have a direct correlation to the way he plays and his body type.

Also, nice Doc Ock and Vulture Easter eggs.  Sinister 6 too.

I LOVE the redesign on Spidey's costume.  Those eyes are perfect!

Red cards...  Green cards...  It's like 1996 all over again.

I think that plays into it, but one of the major tenets of the comic is that no one is safe.  If your name isn't Rick, your number could be pulled any time.

I was really ripped up when I saw Judith's car seat.  I think that Bob is the dissector and I think he has Judith, but it is possible that Judith is gone.  It is about a TV friendly an end that an infant can get without going over a line.  It would certainly be less... less than her demise in the comic.

I'm not one that normally talks to the TV (aside from a good baseball or football game), but I found myself involuntarily telling Rick to rip the bastard's head off when he was fighting The Guv.

The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Rogue Squadron 15th Anniversary

RS was the best set of SW games aside from the "Super" series for SNES.  I liked X-Wing, but I prefer a more "arcade-y" game.  I LOVED the first GC game.

The Wave 1 that sits around here is R2-D2.  I agree that Boba should have been the obvious choice to carry forward.  Someone in Hasbro thinks that people only want heroes.
