Saga '02-'04 / Re: do you still save your jedi master points?
« on: July 11, 2004, 03:56 PM »
All mine, from Episode One onwards, are still attached to the cardbacks.  I have them all in boxes in the attic.    Saga POPs are easy to collect together, but major cutting would be involved in liberating the rest of my points. Due (as above) to the "being outside the US" thing, I doubt I’ll ever have to break out the scissors on the things.

Which brings me to an important question…why the hell have I got 250+ cardbacks taking up valuable space in my attic?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Why did you select your avatar?

I’m going to drop my white noise / angry mosquitoes in favour of a  Wayne Rooney avatar until at least Monday when we play Croatia.  His 2 goals tonight saved our Euro 2004 ass*.

* God bless JD for the word “ass”.

I'm changing my avatar to day 25 soon... :)

Rob already tried this - and it sucked then, too.

Indeed it did ;D

EDIT: now that I have posted and can see what my avatar is, I remember that I chose it because “white noise” reflects both the infrequency and minimal quality of my posts here at JD ;)

It's pathetic, but if England lose in real life I can replay the match and win on my PC  :-[

I'll give you $150 for it then Rob :P :-X ;D

Hell, no way!…where would I get replacement? And Rob don’t just throw around U-85 gradings on a whim, you know ;)

Ha! I have that figure at the retail price plus the cost of a Star Case.

…I did the rating myself (after all, only one’s own opinion counts in the end). It was bought online straight out a case and never circulated so I gave it an U-85  ;D

Now completed Saga. My OTC collection will never be "complete".

I would be caught up, but I over-spent on the OTC Dagobah wave.  I’m still technically short of Bar2D2, and the SD and Endor waves but none of those are hard to find over here, so I’ll pick them up gradually over the next 2-3 weeks.

I will be buying all the VOTC figures, plus the Dagobah and Bespin OTC wave, plus the clean Biker Scout, Bib Fortuna, Wicket and the R2 and 3PO that were just out in the HOF line (because HOF were only sold by the case of 12 over here).

Basically only what I don't already have on a first issue (ie. proper  ;)) card.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: OTC Visual Carded Checklist

Nice to see them all together like that.  I’m pretty sure I can resist most of the re-hashes, but I’m really looking forward to my Luke, Yoda and R2 figures arriving in the mail in the next couple of days.  I’m now convinced that they’re going to be amazing, having studied your excellent pictures here.

I had the chance of Vader, the 2 Lukes, Chewbacca and Han, but as cool as they looked, whenever I see their picture, my overwhelming emotion is still anger at Hasbro for wasting such brilliant cards on figures I already own (in the case of Han, owned for about 4 years now).

Yes, I do this on the odd occasion that I find myself at TRU (the only “retail” store we have here).  I am sure that they greatly appreciate having their 20 Jango KEs on one peg, their 20 Yoda JMs on one peg, and their 20 Obi-Wan CCs, again, on one peg.  Where I do my Star Wars shopping, i.e. online, it is impossible to say how neatly or otherwise the various store owners or guys selling from their basement keep their stock.  At least they have stock.

To be honest I find the general mess of the Star Wars pegs indicative of the fact that retail places no longer give a rat’s ass about the line.

edit: it's great to be able to say ass  ;D

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How long have you collected SW?
« on: May 15, 2004, 05:12 AM »
Only since I bought Qui-Gon Jedi Duel on Euro card in April or May 1999.

I had a lot of toys around the time of ROTJ (when I was 7), but I didn't really consider it to be"collecting" at that point.  It was all just toys to me back then  :o ;)
