Revenge of the Sith / Re: New pics of 51-56
« on: June 5, 2005, 10:49 PM »
Antilles -- pretty good for what he is. I'll probably pass on him and I do see him being a peg warmer.

Zett -- Before I go off on the head, I will state I will get two, one for me and one for my son. Having said that, this guys face reminds me of the Rebel Snow Trooper from the Saga line and both of em remind me of Buzz Lightyear, so I'll call this figure Buzz 2. .

Utapauan Warrior -- Very cool, but I'll be passing.

AT-RT driver -- I am not a completess and whether I get this figure will be determined as to what he looks like in person.

Mustafar Sentry -- Nope, no interest but a very cool figure.

Kenobi Pilot -- Great sculpt, but the question is will he work in Obi Wan's starfighter? My son wants 1 and I'll get 2, one to keep and one to custom since I think the sculpt is cool.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases
« on: June 5, 2005, 10:41 PM »
I found the Tarkin wave (which in a month is scheduled to be 3 a piece per figure so 9 of the figures will be in one case so these 3 figures will be overloaded on the pegs) and I found 7 AT-TE gunners, 6 at a TRU (I got 3, left 4) and 1 at the Target next door (which I left). Found a ton of #6 and #41 clones also yesterday. I also found 3 Royal Blue guards that I hid since I have my 2 for collectors. If no one wanted them then I'll put them into play on Monday.

I have to state that my collecting of the 3 3/4 line is becoming very particular, and I am only picking up the figures that I really like and that are new. Something rehashed  or close to a rehash is of no interest to me.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Episode III line....April 2nd, 2005
« on: July 25, 2004, 01:45 AM »
I have changed since Ep. II.  I can honestly say that with all the news lately of the 3 3/4 line, I am not overly excited yet for next Spring for figures (the movie, I am pumped to see!). I can already say that I will not be buying every figure that comes out, especially since 2005 is the comeback year for action features.  I will wait and see what is coming out and the pictures and then decide.  Like the title of the movie, but I do not like the Ep. III packaging nor the action feature setup. In reality too, my son was 8 when Ep. II came out and he never wanted the action feature SW figures cause they were harder to play with; okay, except for the Anakin with two lightsabers.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Episode 3 Packaging Revealed!!!

Being an opener I guess means I really should not care, but I have to say I for one do not like it. I do not like the animated cartoon figure cards and I like this even less. It fits exactly with the action features that these figures will have and that I HATE as an open collector Bottom line, Hasbro IMO is sending the message that we make these for the kids not for the collectors.
So, in that view that the new Ep. III line will be marketed for kids, then Hasbro did a good job.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: do you have too much stuff?
« on: June 29, 2004, 03:54 PM »
I had around 1000 loose figures out that I recently packed up in zip lock bags and put away. I kept the unleash out and about 50 of my favorite 3 3/4. Between SW and TB LOTR figures, I just do not have the space in my office to display them. I too have backed off of my collecting and only collect the 3 3/4 that I want and the unleash that I want. I am more excited about the unleash then the 3 3/4. Also have ordered a couple of busts that I really like, and are cool to display.

I've seen it, I've looked at it, I've passed on it. Enough said.

Yes, old card and these are reshipments.  Looks like TRU or Hasbro or both are clearing out old inventory.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting
« on: May 22, 2004, 01:39 AM »
I see the line going into 2007 and dying in that year. I agree that momentum from Ep. III will carry it into 2007. I also think the answer to the line is seen in the Clone Wars figures. I am 39 and have a 10 year old son who loves SW and LOTR (wonder why? Because I do?). Anyway, I hunted like mad last summer and was able to find every figure at retail, and bought at least 2 of each figures (some 3 packs of clones I bought 3).  That line was successful, and represents what I think Hasbro needs to do to make the line work after 2006/2007. Lucas will put out special TV series etc. and Hasbro will make short lines to support those releases (like the Clone Wars). Once the theme is over, the line is over and retailers are done until the next theme/story/special comes out.
Also, the 3 3/4 line will die out. I do not think that other high end collectables like the busts and other items will stop. These will increase in demand and remain in limited runs for the true collector.
I guess that is why I have preordered for SW everything I want, and same for LOTR. Now I have to wait for the preorders to deliver.

I am going to state what I think, so please do not jump on me to bad. Let the OTC die in February. Then let Ep. III come out in April and then run into 2006, merging into a final line. Finally in 2008 let the line die for 2 years prior to the next release of Lucas' new director cut in 2010.

Only parts of the Dagobah and other new wave. I've really cut back on my 3 3/4 stuff and focus mainly on the unleash for SW. I am also way more excited about the new stuff coming out this summer and fall for LOTR TB 6 inch figures.

Saga '02-'04 / Ephant Mon
« on: May 22, 2004, 01:17 AM »
Ephant Mon is showing up at TRU's in Utah in repacked Saga Wave 9 cases from last year. He was at two local TRU's today.
Also, locally, our Family Dollar stores have Saga figures going for $2. I found several Ephant's there for that price. Not mint, but in good condition.

Good to know this also. I have basically quite hunting, well, I still go 1x a week but not everyday anymore. So I now order online for the SW and the LOTR that I want.

Here are the options I have seen:

AFX
BigBadToyStore.com
EE
New Force

Anyone have thoughts on the above four online retailers?

A general question on pre-orders though. I usually find stuff in the stores before the pre-orders come close to getting shipped out. Is the key patience and/or is this normal?

I posted this in the vechiles section but it fits here also. Based on Hasbro's April 28 2004 press release:

In terms of distribution, we expect the line to be carried by all major toy retailers.  While we do not disclose production quantities, we caution fans against Internet rumors. We will ship these figures in multiple ratios to try and ensure that the most popular figures are available throughout the Fall.

I will say that the 7 new figures in the OTC will be harder to find then the peg warmers, I mean repacks. Expect the pegs from August til January to be filled with these OTC repacks. It is an easy way for Hasbro to put product out and not make an investment in a line with a movie coming out. This allows the marketing and distro $ to be spent on Ep. III.  Well, I'll be saving ALOT of money and time since I am not a completist and I am an opener!
