Watto's Junk Yard / It's A BOY!
« on: September 26, 2003, 11:32 AM »
Those who didn't do so hot in math...the equation in the title means that me and the mrs. are having another baby!

She is due in mid-April and we went to the doctor the other day for the first time...heard the heartbeat and everything seems to be doing well.

Funny story, for those who followed my car buying saga a few months ago and teased me about the mini-van.  We actually signed the papers on the Camry two days before we found out the big news.  So maybe the van would have been in order :-*

JediMAX is oblivious so far, to young to know what is going on, he'll be 2 when the baby comes which will be very nice methinks.

Just thought I share some good news :-*

Watto's Junk Yard / Ghosts
« on: September 24, 2003, 12:37 PM »
Do you believe in ghosts, the afterlife, spirits coming back to haunt you?

I don't, my bogus detector is set a little bit too high, doesn't mean that people don't have unexplainable phenomena happen to them...

I wake up in the middle of my sleep sometimes and swear there are things hovering over my bed or flying away into the corner of the room.  I later found out that the brain sometimes tricks the eyes into thinking it is seeing things...

JD Sports Forum! / 2004/2005 NHL Offseason

With the pre-season well udner way its time to get going on this years thread and start discussing the rapidly upcoming season!

My (new) team the Wild are set to come off a storybook year for a third year team.

Two major problems they have right now is Gaborik and Dupuis their two leading scorers last year are both holding out.  Not a good way to start  the season :(

I look for them to do about the same as last year, make the playoffs and have a chance to win a series or two and that is about it.  I think Detroit and NJ will both be strong yet again.  I also am really intrigued to see how the Avalanche do without Roy, signing Sellane and Kariya is so tough, their Offense is unbeatable and might have to be to overcome the loss of the greatest goalie ever...Sakic-Sellane-Kariya on a line is almost unfair :-\ And then to have Forsberg-Tanguay-Hedjuk after that is criminal!

Watto's Junk Yard / It's The End of the World As We Know It
« on: September 22, 2003, 01:48 PM »
OK, I've been meaning to post this for a few days but it has completely been forgotten or blocked out

I usually enter the local Wal Marts through the Garden section because it is usually right by the toy aisle.  It is an easy way to avoid the geriatric cart getter and the fat people in the scooters who take up the whole aisle

So as I was walking in last Wednesday as I exit the Garden center and ready my nose for the stench that is Wal-Mart's main showroom I am greeted by a dancing mechanical Santa Claus doing the twist and singing Jingle Bells.

I look at my watch September 17th, only 3 months until Christmas!  It is still SUMMER for cripes sakes!  I do a head jerk and there are 3 aisles already set up for the big event.  I just about lost it right there

Capitalism at its finest...kill me now, I cannot bear 12 more weeks of a dancing Santa Claus.  It used to be Retailers waited until mid November, we have hit a new all time low in the pursuit of your money :( :'(  Somewhere Baby Jesus is indeed crying

The Prequel Trilogy / My Plot Guess
« on: September 22, 2003, 12:19 AM »
OK...I think I've got it maybe

Anakin's Fall has been called a tragedy...

His saying in EpII of stopping people from dying yadda yadda is deep foreshadowing...

Anakin saves Palpatine in the beginning of the movie from the clutches of Dooku, Anakin is the hero of the galaxy and his ego knows it, he is the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy...

NEW 10/10/03...Palpatine knowing that Anakin is weak asks him to be his personal bodyguard.

Somehow Ms Amidala is killed or dies (there is a pretty revealing Webcam image for Hyperspace members that alludes to this effect that she is dead and I'm going to say she des giving birth)...this happens  while Obi and Ani are saving someone or doing something...involving the new bad guy

The Clone Army turns on the Jedi during the movie and Mace goes to confront Palpatine, being Palpatine's bodyguard Anakin is forced to defend Palpatine/Sidious and kills Mace cementing his path down the dark side.  Palpatine tells Anakin that Mace is te Jedi traitor and he was the one who has been sabotoging the Republic

OK then, Palpatine/Sidious promises Anakin that through the Dark Side people can be resurrected and having tutored Anakin for so long Anakin finally succumbs to the dark side in an effort to bring Padme back from the dead...it is the Jedi's fault he is where he is...Obi did this to him, Obi was responsible for Padme's death, Obi was responsible for his mother's death.  This leads to his duel with obi saying that Obi was reponsible blah blah blah.  obi wins, Ani is scarred and rescued by Palpatine who brings him back from the "dead" and gives him the means to an end...Having been beaten Anakin breaks and hunts down the remaining survivors and that is that...

Obi, Yoda and Bail escape with the Kids and the credits roll

Last scene is Vader on his Star Destroyer looking off into space wondering where his child (children) are

Watto's Junk Yard / Ye Olde Nintendo
« on: September 19, 2003, 03:35 PM »
I know I did a thread on this over at CSW but there is always time to talk about one my all time greatest passions, the Nintendo Entertainment System

I will remember the day in 1985 we got the whole kit and kaboodle forever.  Me, my brother and sister were begging for weeks to get one and my parents finally caved.  We each got to pick out a game to go along with the pack we got which included Duck Hunt and Gyromite with R.O.B. the lil' Robot.  So I got Baseball, my brother got 10 Yard Fight and my sister picked Mario Bros. (non-Super ;))  We must have played for hours on end.  I remember my dad missed a meeting he was so enthralled with playing Duck Hunt.  It was great because we were also the house in the neighborhood since we were the first family to get a system.  Atari was the thing of the past!

The collection really grew from there and was probably a large factor in me getting out of toy collecting.  All $$$ went to buying new games... Super Mario Bros, Kung Fu, Pro Wrestling and then some of the greatest games ever!  Mike Tyson's Punch Out, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, RC Pro Am, Castlevania...

I think we topped off around 30 games, and I still break the old girl out from time to time.  I bought a ton of old games and a new pin connector last winter and she still works like a charm.

What do you put on your dog?

I like: Ketchup, Relish, Onions, Kraut and certain kinds of mustard...

Gulden's Spicy Brown

Or Koop's Arizona Heat, I absolutely love this stuff!

Also if it is available I'll throw on some American Cheese

And who can turn down an old fashioned Chili Dog?  Not I

Watto's Junk Yard / The Big One
« on: September 17, 2003, 10:34 AM »
Remember a few years back when the Boob Tube was chock full of shows about how the big LA Earthquake was going to happen any day and that California was about to slide in the ocean.

They always had scientists proclaim "And we're about 10,000 years overdue for the Big One"

Is this something you gusy in California worry about or was it just some media ploy to get people whooped up into a frenzy and worried about nothing

Watto's Junk Yard / Favorite Place You Have Traveled
« on: September 17, 2003, 10:29 AM »
For me it is a toss up between Hawaii and Northern California.

If I could afford to live in either place (and if California had its government and tax situation straightened out) I'd live in both spots in a heartbeat

Nothing can beat the Hawaiian climate.  It is truly a paradise in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.  The beauty of the three islands we went two is absolutely breathtaking.  The volcanoes, the beaches, the trees, the natives :-*  We stayed in Honolulu which if we ever go back we won't be doing again, way too touristy but a pretty cool city.  I'd love to retire on Maui and buy a palatial estate on the beach

Northern California has some of the most beautiful vistas on the planet.  The Redwood forests are a must visit for any OT fan, you seriously feel like you are walking on Endor and Wicket is going to pop out any minute.  Add to that the beauty of the Yosemite Valley and Tahoe plus the Sierras and coastal mountains, it can't be beat.  Top that all off with San Francisco, one of the most beautiful cities in America.  The bay, the Golden Gate, the Wharf, the skyline, the hills.  Great town...great spot to visit, wouldn't want to live there though ;)

I just returned from a jaunt into Big Lots where I was able to scoop up 27 unique 3-3/4" Figures for $28.  I just couldn't stop loading my cart with these little guys.  When I open them I will post some pictures, but they look like great Cantina, Jabba and Nightclub fodder as well as Coruscant Street Scene Fillers :-*
