Watto's Junk Yard / Best CD's of the 90's
« on: May 9, 2003, 09:59 AM »
I'll name my top 5, you can list as many as you want...No real order but these 5 are my cream of the 90's crop

Tom Petty ~ Wildflowers

I broke up with a pretty serious girlfriend in 1996, I must have listened to this CD 200 times, it deals with loss of love, how crappy it makes you feel and how everything will be alright.  Tom's guitar work is amazing and the classic video moment (weeks later Snoop Dogg was blanketing the airwaves  ::))

"So let me get to the point, lets roll another reaara"

Alice in Chains ~ Jar of Flies

This is an EP so there are only 7 songs on here and 1 is an instrumental.  The 6 songs together though are some of the greatest songs I have ever heard, Layne's lament of spiraling into a hopeless addiction is very evident.  Another CD I could listen to for hours and hours

Smashing Pumpkins ~ Siamese Dream

One of those discs that doesn't have a bad track on it from beginining to the end every song is just balls on solid rock.  How it all lays out and blaneds from song to song is an amazing collection of art.  That to me is one of the greatest parts about CD's too.  This was a staple in the disc changers while playing thousands of games of Sega NHL Hockey.  I abosuletly love this CD

Pearl Jam ~ No Code

Not everyone's favorite Pearl Jam CD, but it is mine.  Kind of goes back to Siamese Dream, the first string of 6 songs are all amoungst my favorite PJ songs:

Sometimes
Hail, Hail
Who You Are (I wish they would still play this in concert)
In My Tree
Smile
Off He Goes

The B-Side of the Record is full of some great gems as well, a lot of fans hate this one, one of their worst sellers, I still remember lining up at Best Buy at midnight and listening to No Code all night long.   :'(

Soul Asylum ~ Grave Dancers Union

This CD will always have a special place in my heart...a really special place :-*

I guess the gray area here pappy is that we don't know how old Luke was when Obi-Wan brought Luke to Owen and Beru, could have been 2, could have been 1

We also do not know how young Jedi begin their training, might be soon after birth to lessen the blow of family removal from the original parents

New Playmats Q&A at the SCS, nothing Earth Shattering, I wish Hasbro would grace us with their presence like Playmates, Toy Biz, and Palisades do

It started with the Angles beating the Twins
It Continued with the Lakers killing the T-Pups

Time for some revenge...

I cannot believe they won that game, Cloutier is a sieve beyond belief.  Wild should have never been in a Game 7 if they could have won a couple of Face Offs earlier in the Series...

Gophers win the NCAA, time for the Wild to bring Lord Stanley's Cup to Minnesota!

Actually, I don't think they or Anaheim have a chance versus Ottawa or New Jersey...

No, I was thinking more along the lines of the Messiah and King Herod killing all the babies of Bethlehem, Moses is something different :)

And Luke doesn't need to be a trained Jedi, everyone knows how powerful he is with the force...cause he was identified early and was under the care of the Jedi

Quote
The Escape to Egypt

13When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." 14So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son."[6]
16When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

I still am kind of remorseful that we didn't get that house, it was gorgeous, our current one is very nice as well but this was the kind of house that you walked in and went wow.  Every room got better, the space and size were all prefect.  Nice quiet street...

Arsonist and Murderer, Still At Large...Not priceless :-*

Would You Ever Buy A House Where Someone Was Murdered?

My wife and I are house shopping, we are starting to outgrow our two bedroom townhome and need some storage space and I want my Star Wars room back dangnabbit.

So last Friday we found a wonderful house built in 1960, quiet nice neighborhood,  4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, the entire house had been remodled, top to bottom, new appliances, new hardwood floors, new carpet, new porch etc etc etc.  It is well within our price range but had been on the market for two months.  We went back tonight to look again when we read the statement from the seller stating that there was an arson in the house and some died.

Searching around the old Minneapolis newspaper archives, I come to find out some dude set fire to his still living wife in this beautiful house we are looking at and killed her to collect $378,000 in insurance.  Then dude leaves the state on bond has been on America's Most Wanted, Unsolved Mysteries etc. and is still at large

My wife refuses to even think about living there, I wouldn't mind it because it really is a nice house, right where we want to live.  Kind of like Marge trying to sell the murder house to the Flanderereses, would you buy it knowing someone was still on the loose and he had murdered someone in the very place you were living???
