« on: January 13, 2014, 10:45 PM »
And this is too hard because I have way too many more.

Totally agree on this...I had lots of them just off the list Ghostbusters, Blade Runner, Wrath of Khan, Schindler's List, Life is Beautiful, All 3 Toy Story movies, Up, Dark Knight it goes on and on :-\

Watto's Junk Yard / Your Top 20 Movies
« on: January 13, 2014, 10:44 AM »
Last night in Twitter I discovered one of our Staff Members had never watched Groundhog Day which is easily in my top 20 movies of all time.  Which got me to thinking, what are my top 20 movies of all time?  Time to put them down for all eternity.  No need to be in order if you don't want them to be (which may be easier to do)

1. E.T.
2. Star Wars
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. Return of the Jedi
5. Raiders of the Lost Ark
6. Back to the Future
7. The Goonies
8. Fellowship of the Ring
9. The Two Towers
10. Return of the King
11. Caddyshack
12. This is Spinal Tap
13. The Jerk
14. Groundhog Day
15. Fight Club
16. Pulp Fiction
17. Hoosiers
18. A Christmas Story
19. The Avengers
20. Stand By Me

Star Wars Universe / Re: Disney to Purge Select EU
« on: January 13, 2014, 10:27 AM »
I wouldn't be quick to blame Disney on this.  First of all Pablo Hildago and Leeland Chee are both leading this effort.  They are also the same two guys who for years have supposed to be handling the EU and the Holocron.  I agree with you Nick that they really have no choice and I think the writing is more or less already on the wall concerning that whatever is going to happen in EpVII will be vastly different than the existing EU.  I guess shame on Lucas and Lucasfilm for making lots of money on all of EU over the years only to give everyone the middle finger and say HA HA, it didn't really happen that way.

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: Is 2014 the "Last Hurrah"?
« on: January 9, 2014, 05:10 PM »
If it is, I think I am OK with it, or that is what I keep telling myself.  I've switched out enough figures over the last 5-6 years that even now my collection shelves are plum full with two tubs full of figures that are outdated and doomed to garage sales of the future.

I was looking at my vintage to modern comparison cabinets hanging on the wall and even the few small holes left (White Bespin Guard, Sim Aloo, Blue Power Droid) aren't that noticeable.  And even with that, over the last 6 years almost all of them have been redone in SA form.  The list of what I want is really small and what I want vs what you all want poorly matches these days I think.  The whole thing has become so niche that it is hard to be mad at Hasbro for being so safe with it all.  I think the whole Troop Building fad is over.  Repacking clone after clone doesn't excite a lot of people.

All of that said, I am psyched for Wave 4 and what could come in Wave 5.  If Wave 6 is the last before EpVII stuff starts hitting, here is my dream:

Princess Leia (ANH) Resculpt with no soft goods
Lando Calrissian (ESB) Resculpt with soft good cape
Sim Aloo
Mustache Bespin Guard
Blue Power Droid
Han Pre Carbonite w/ LED Block
Yak Face

I hope that Imperial and Rebel Officer and pilot sets continue the exclusive packs we have had.  I'd like to replace those POTF2/Saga officers and continue to fill out Snowspeeder and X-Wing pilot ranks.  But if none of that ever happens, I'm cool

I'm also sure the first Episode VII figure that comes out will be mine even though I don't have room :-\

LEGO / Re: Simpsons
« on: January 8, 2014, 05:18 PM »
$199 is a great price for this set imo...I'd imagine there must be a ton of smaller sets in the pipeline and not just this thing - unless it's a stand alone release.

They are doing blind bags for these aren't they?

The LEGO THE SIMPSONS house will be available February 1st in LEGO retail outlets for $199.99 (USD). The line of LEGO THE SIMPSONS minfigures will launch in May 2014 in all major toy retailers for $3.99 (USD) each.

Simpsons Detailed Photos

Outside of the figures all looking stoned, this may be the greatest set of all time

Middle Earth / Re: LOTR LEGO
« on: January 8, 2014, 08:29 AM »
Cashed in Amazon Rewards and XMas gift cards and pulled the trigger on Orthanc this morning.  I am officially caught up on LOTR LEGO now, hopefully we get some more sets in Fall 2014.  I really really really want Minas Tirith and Edoras.  I'd also dig a matching Tower of Sauron

12" Figures / Re: 1/6 Han Solo - Hoth

Besides getting Willrow Hood made...getting Hoth Han with a Brown coat is the second greatest achievement of my Collecting Career.  Man that was that they are making both and acknowledging my gadflyness
