Hey Hasbro! / Re: general ideas
« on: December 20, 2005, 11:35 AM »
Well, they are still doing variations on more of my ideas, they just announced the senate batle pack with a senate pod.

They must like my ideas, they've done many in the past.  Be nice to see these continue.  As I was hoping for and posted before, I'd rather see a moisture evaporator pack-in, but I'll take a senate pod.

they screwed up my "vs. 2 pack" idea.  Should have just put 2 figs on a blister with some accessories, instead of those huge window boxes with the bases, and sticks to move the figures around...horrible translation of a good idea that STILL needs to be done.

As far as the initial post, yeah, for $60 I'd want a better bos, and I've had some vintage yellow, but have yet to experience it becoming "brittle"

Vintage Kenner / Re: AFA - Good or Bad?
« on: December 11, 2005, 09:15 PM »
I think overall AFA is bad.  I look at it the same way as I do the sports card industry.  You have millions of cards that are just worthless now unless they are a chase or graded.  I'm hoping our hobby doesn;t become poisoned as well.

The only good thing I can say is that I like seeing thousands spend thier $ on grading vs. buying mdse.  (that's a good thing) now, I'd rather buy up all the mdse. as possible cheap...then if grading is "good" it will be around years from now, and I can get stuff graded then....if I so desire.

Why rush and spend your $ getting stuff graded now ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Conventions / Re: Pgh toy show
« on: December 7, 2005, 11:24 AM »
Here's a recap of the show toywise.  First off there was a ton of new modern stuff, and as high priced as it was, by the end of the day...IT WAS ALL SELLING! It was insane.  Good to see that the hobby is as strong as ever, but I just hate seeing all the rediculously high scalped prices. Here's what I was seeing:

Unleashed Battle Packs $20  (everyone hates em, I kinda think they'll do well)
B.B. Vader Unleashed $20-$40
Silver Fett $40
Silver Clone $20
Star Tours $25
Target Utapau trooper $25
Covert ops trooper (shopsw) $40
Holo Leia $40
New waves ROTS $10ea.
CIII Vader $40
Jedi Mickey/Yoda Disney $40 selling well at $40 I might add
Animated Clones $15ish Yoda $20
Target Clone $30
BK Vaders $5-$10 seemed to sell at the $5 price, sit at the $10
OTC common $7-$12 (very hot line) Sandtroopers for $40, ST's and Vaders $25ish
Toyfare Vader only one $200
Target Vader saw one go immediately for $50+ many sold for $60+

Vintage was scarcer than usual.  Talking to the guys, all loose vintage seemed to be selling like hotcakes!  They said it seemed younger or newer collectors that were starting to dabble in vintage for the first time seemed to be testing the waters with items like $10 loose figs vs. say $300 carded.  (this is also a good sign to see people getting into vintage)  I have a feeling it's only a matter of time before they make the jump fully.

12" common also seemed to jump, as $20 seemed to be the base for many modern, so that seemed to jump back up to what you'd normally pay retail for them.  (only a few yrs. back they were going low for about $10-$15.  Some insanely high prices on the more exclusive 12"ers. (speeders, 100th Luke, KB 3 and 4 packs, 2 packs, Taun-tauns, etc. etc.)

Vehicles still remain to be very hot.  Falcons, gunships, etc. were all gone first hour of the show.

I was dissapointed in that a majority of the new stuff was just hasbro stuff.  (I can understand vendors wanting to buy, clean the shelves and make a quick buck on $5 Hasbro figs, makes sense in that respect) I thought I would see a bunch of the miniatures, Attacktix, busts, bust-ups, and some MR, Code 3, Koto, Attackus, but saw virtually NONE.  No high end stuff whatsoever.

Do keep in mind at the show, the prices are usually slightly higher than the norm, vs. EBay you don't have to pay s&H, can usually wheel and deal for deals, you know you won;t get taken or worry about not getting what you paid for, and you actually can hold and see what you are getting, no surprises.

« on: December 7, 2005, 02:10 AM »
Heh, after all the PSWCS guys got done exchanging exclusives (we all help each other out, and on items like Wedge, Holiday Vader, trooper, etc. we all go in on bulk deals to save on S&H (works out to be like $15 and change vs. $22 per fig.)

so, I ran up a hefty exclusives tab, so I went on a mission for weird stuff like:

(2) vintage X-wing guns-got em!
(1) vintage Battle Damage TIE wing connector piece (got it)
(1) vintage Hoth Rebel trooper micro to match my 4up (got it)

Was looking for a 12" Princess Leia commemorative for a girl to open (box could have been damaged) but didn;t find one, just bought one last night off EBay.

Was a great time hanging out.  Always fun to see jesse and all the others, met a few new guys this time as well.  John Harvards was fun as always!  :^)

I'll post a few pics!

Other Collectibles / Re: ROTS Burger King Promos
« on: December 7, 2005, 02:04 AM »
I grabbed one of the last Vader watches from my BK, that was the one outselling the rest by far.

Also, they sold out of the last wave of figs before I could grab them.  Doh.  All the others hung for weeks, but that last wave, forget it.

I was very impressed by the window box packaging on the ROTJ poster.  That may very well get my nod for the best packaging.  REALLY REALLY nice.

There's a sticker with number 0500 on the top, so I'm assuming I got #500 right on the nose?

Collections / Re: What is the Pride and Joy of your Collection?
« on: December 5, 2005, 09:28 PM »
This is one of my favorite items I have added to my collection since CIII:

It's the CIII variant Redhead Padme... it's a one-of-a-kind.  She's precious, priceless, and not for sale or trade :^)

Other Collectibles / easy to miss items?
« on: November 9, 2005, 10:09 PM »
Anyone know of easy to miss items?  By this I mean things that aren;t advertised much, and you may pass right up, or something you may not normally think to collect!

Ornaments are out at Target in the XMAS aisle and are fairly cheap.

Halloween candy wrappers (litrally about 100+ different combinations of wrappers, bags, etc.

BK- the SW gift cards (freebies if you do it right :^)

Magazines- Empire has a SW guide packed in this months edition

There's a ROTS foosball table avail at WalMart

An oddity, yes, but i like to collect all the "pre-order" cards at TRU, they are free, usually there's a stack of about 100 you can grab a few, neat to collect.

any others??????????

I've changed a bit.  I still pretty much only get one of each fig, place in a case, and display (now starting to store becasue I'm running low on space)

A lot of things I've really cut back on waiting for clearances.  I've really been into all the promo stuff lately.  You'd be amazed how many cool SW things there are that don't cost but a dollar (or less) when you wait for clearances.

Other Collectibles / Re: Star Wars Transformers?
« on: October 30, 2005, 10:31 PM »
Funny, the Transformer fans on thier forums seem to really like them, but the SW fans seem to dislike them.  I won't go as far as to say Hate them like the Froce Battler Obi.

Anyone know hoew common it is for the Transformer line to be a cross-collectible?  Meaning do they produce transformers that tie in to other licenses?

Weird.

There were aton of these at my local Taget this morning, and for $13+tax a pop, and there on the shelf they will stay.  Ugh, these are god awful looking, worse than in the pics, I didn't even bother picking these up off the shelf to look at.  Scalpers pockets usually don't run to deep, so I imagine they will remain there for a little while.  Especially since the reg figs are discounted at $4.31ea.

At $13 a pop, for 3 little figs, you could get a nice mini-bust for less!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are Hasbro and Target thinking?

TV-9D9 / Re: SW Live Action TV your thoughts
« on: October 13, 2005, 02:43 PM »
I've heard a few things recently focused on the Boba Fett storyline.  As a huge Fett fan, i'm torn.  I really like Daniel Logan in EP II, I think he did a good job as a young Fett, but I think carrying a TV series on the shoulders of a young actor as he would be difficult.  You think George would have learned his lesson with Llyoyd and EP I.

Although, Logan in 2 years is well, 2 years older, and if the series carries for a few years, Logan at 2,3,4 yrs. down the road, may not be SO bad.  I dunno.

Still wish it would focuse on the Rebellion and work all the characters and backstories in as asides.
