Other Collectibles / Re: Sideshow 1/4 Statues?
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:01 PM »
I have no idea (I'll find out in 3 days ;^)

If I had to guess, I'd say they'll be statues.

By the way, thier approach to exclusives-ordering them on the net, then picking them up at the con absolutely rules!

I hope we see that idea expanded and used for CIII, but I doubt it.

Holy crap!  I didn't think anyone paid attention to a single word I ever said!

This now changes my whole outlook on life itself!

Yeah, I also suggested a few years back about doing troopers in the style of the old "green army men" AKA different poses like kneeling, prone position, etc.

Lo and behold they came out with the clone 3 packs-I may have to have a talk with Hasbro when I'm in San Diego this week ;^)

over the yrs. I've printed out and saved all my "ideas".  Love to talk with someone who influences things over there.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Questions on punched vs. unpunched cards
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:34 AM »
I'm in the same boat, I found that recently more and more of my ROTJ carded are unpunched, so all of a sudden, a ROTJ unpunched collection is sticking out in my mind.

Won't turn a good deal away punched or not, but unpunched just has that nice clean look to it.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Best vintage deals you've gotten
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:31 AM »
Here's a recent one:
4th of July weeekend-hit the local flea market at the cottage and found a $10 loose vintage 12" 3PO excellent condition.  Also, grabbed a carded NM ROTJ Nien Nunb for $20-great thing was it had the japanese sticker on the back of the card (65back).

2 vintage loose in M/NM condition for $2ea.

Not too shabby.

Collector's Tips / Re: Storing Loose Figs
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:27 AM »
Through the yrs. I've picked up a bunch of the plastic individual cases from Michaels(craft store) sometimes you can find them on sale which cuts the cost a little(still kind of pricey at around $1ea. (maybe less) I have one long shelf in my fireplace room with vintgae all in these cases(a few short of the entire loose run)

Keeps them dust free, and displays real nice.

Collector's Tips / Re: Starcase
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:08 AM »
A little late on this one, I am, but nonetheless, I'll share my experience:

I am a huge fan of the Protecto Packs.  To me they are sturdier than the Star Cases when put side by side, plus the PP don't have the triangle hangtag/lip on top that the SC have(makes it nicer if your lining you figures on a wall above ea. other)

Also, the clamshell PP design vs. the 2 piece SC is a huge advantage, as well as I believe the PP are also UV coated (I may be wrong, but they seem to have an ever so slight bluish tint.

I order mine from adkins collectibles, online a cs. of 90 runs about .89/ea. with S&H they come to about $1.06/ea.  best case and best buy in my opinion.

As far as Ephant cases-Oscar's Cases are absolutely fantastic-have a few for my vintage carded and cardbacks.  Outstanding heavy duty cases-highly reccommend.

Newbies / Well hello there!

Finally decided to register, been bookmarked for a while now.

I've known Jesse James for a while, he's been over my place a few times for a few SW get togethers.  Briefly, I'm 32, married, I pretty much travel the east US hiring brokers to represent our company.  Have a home in Pittsburgh.  Western PA contact for the PA SW Collectors Society www.pswcs.com I also frequent www.thejawa.net/pitswcc

Currently have over 3600 SW items in the collection both modern and vintage.  Lots of vintage figures both carded and loose, lots of the vintage vehicles/playsets, and all kinds of quirky SW items (I love the oddball stuff)

I also am kind of a SW packrat-I love to collect stuff like articles/ads/etc.  Also do all the posters/comics/and really anything SW.

Love to attend the cons WW/San Diego/Pgh toyshows-comicons/San Diego CC/ and the Celebrations!

MTFBWY!

Sweet!

I love the bootlegs, hadn't seen that one before.

I have a handful of the POTF2 bootlegs (love the paint jobs)

Kind of a neat area of SW collecting if you ask me.
also am piecing together an Empire Galaxy collection right now-have a ways to go on that part of the collection.

Since I just registerd, I'll give quick recap-only oh 3 months late.  ;^)

I spent most of the time at the PSWCS booth.  Met a ton of great folks, plus the usual crew.  Jesse, myself and a hanful of other SW faithfuls did the appropriate thing afterwards by heading to the local Hooters to hang out and talk SW :^)

Fun time had by all.

By the way they added an additional show in 2005, now they'll be having 3 shows ea. year. April/July/Dec.

Stay posted!

« on: July 18, 2004, 10:16 AM »
I'll be attending Celebration again!

I'm a diamond member wit hthe Hilton group, and was able to reserve a room early on.  I actually got a supersweet deal on a suite (lving room/seperate beds/kitchen/bar/refrigerator/etc.) for $134/night!!!!!!!

I'll be hanging with the PA SW collecting Society for most of the week   www.pswcs.com

Jesse James lives pretty close to me, we hang out every now and then-very cool guy. A bunch of us here got some rooms at the Hampton(I'll be partying in the suite for a few nights I'm sure)  doing it up even bigger than last time that's for sure!

Looking forward to it.  Between the San Diego con and Celebration III, starting this week, it whould be the kickoff to a great year for SW!!!!
