Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Star Wars Celebration 3
« on: August 8, 2004, 10:19 AM »
The latest I've been hearing is that the tickets and all the hotel package info. will be released sometime in Sept.(I heard late August floating around San Diego) but I have a feeling it will all coincide with a big SW.com/hyperspace/Insider Mag blitz.

I'm guessing tix. will be avail. for order online shopsw.com Tix. for CII ran about $75.(prob. slightly higher for CIII since another day has been added this time)

There are supposed to be blocks of Hotel rooms that Lucasfilm and/or Gencon have reserved that will probably be sold as package deals and/or "special" rates.

You can book your room on an individual basis right now and I suggest doing so (you can always cancel if a better deal arises) I grabbed a room months ago just to make sure I had one fairly close, as CII most sold out and was tricky finding anything within a few blocks of the convention center.

I kinda lucked out, I'm a diamond VIP member with the Hilton chains so I was able to grab a suite at the Hampton Inn for only $134/night!!!!!!

Kitchen, living room, bar, refrig, 2 bedrooms, jacuzzi, the works !!! ;^)

Gentle Giant / Re: Bust Ups!
« on: July 27, 2004, 04:09 PM »
Riddle me this, riddle me that, how does the seller know if they glow if there sealed!  ::)  Opened then resealed?

Bust Ups SRIRIT OF THE REBELLION Glow in Dark

Damm!   :o

Star Wars Spirit Rebellion Bust Ups Chase Glow in Dark

Each bust is individually sealed in a black plastic bag inside the white box.  Each plastic bag has a small round holepunch in them, just large enough that you can tell if yours is a glow in the dark one or not.  Obviously you'd have to take the tape off the ouside white box, but could probably just be pressed right back on again.

I'm sooo beat.  Got caught in the storms in Atlanta Sun eve. and didn;t get home until 3:30AM.

What a freaking blast!  As far as exclusives, I lucked out BIG time!  I scored a ST Luke bust on Thurs. with one ticket-no kidding!  While in line a guy had an extra bust-up tix. so I got one of those too(not a Glow I D one)...

An absolute blast have about 4hrs. of footage from the con I'll have on my widescreen Sat as well.

Bob -
Sorry I never got a chance to hook up with you!  I was hoping to, but jotted your cell phone number down on a piece of paper that I didn't have with me the last day or two, and wasn't able to give you a buzz.   :-\  I think I saw you at the Hasbro Q & A though...  Did you get up and ask them a question at one point?  I heard a "from Pittsburg" and I think "Bob".  White T-shirt and a hat, if I recall...  Was that you?

I'm sure we'll have better luck at C3 though!   ;)

Missed Sharon too.  Called her a couple times, but never got through to her or heard back from her.  Sharon, you out there?  I assume you hit the show right?  You have fun?  Meet some other folks?

I missed Robert and Ook as well, though I saw Ook a couple times, at the Hasbro Q & A (back wall) and at the GG booth on Preview night (I was shouting at you from across their tables Ook, and you heard me, but didn't recognize me and know where it was coming from!)   :P

I did get a chance to meet Tammy (RJP) though, so that was cool.  Sorry I said "kickin' some ass on the exclusives" in front of your kids though.  Brainfart.   :-[

Also met and chatted with JoshEEE, Mark Hurray (RS Staff), Philip Wise, "Sir Steve" Comenzo, Gus Lopez, Duncan Jenkins, Ray Park (walking down the street), Steve Sansweet, and several others I'm forgetting now.  Nice to put a few more faces to the forum names.  Good times!  8)

Yep, that would be me!

Got some biker scouts, some Wizards of the coast miniature ST(I heard they are doing a different miniature promo at all the summer cons ????  WOw that's pretty cool.

Grabbed the Hasbro poster and ran around trying to grab some handfuls of all the promo mdse.  (Jesse I'll have it all on display at my place Sat.)

As far as extras all are spoken for but I may have some surprises Sat.

I grabbed some autographed cardbacks(multiple) also a ton of autographed comics at Dark Horse-some original CW art, and  I even got an autraphed copy of the CW comic(the paperback type one that came out a few wks ago) that one of the guys signed "1st signed copy"  how cool is that?

Got my Hmmill autograph as well as Kirshner/Billy Dee-sweet-got a 2 for one deal Billy and Irvin on the same 8X10 that had them both in the pic.

2 more autographs on my 3'X4' poster-now back in it's frame, got the Sandra poster handout autographed, asn all the authors at the Del Ray booth.

All my silver troopers came back smashed-kinda like me on Sat. night ;~P

An absolute blast have about 4hrs. of footage from the con I'll have on my widescreen Sat as well.

LAter!

Welcome, I too have grown tired of the groups at TFN.

I frequent a few other sites, and also just recently singed on here.

I'm at the Hampton Inn 1 mile N/NW of the convnetion Center, Right across/ from/near the Holiday Inn Bay.

my cell is 412-897-****  if anyone wants to call when they get there.  Leave a mess. as I'll be checking it quite a bit.  Jim from Pgh. is also going, but we're not going "together", he's at the HI Bay, and going WEd.

Unfortunately I'm getting in early Thurs. AM and will be missing Wed. preview night.

But I want to hit the fanfilms, and definately want to hang out Fri eve/Sat. eve somewhere.

So give me a ring, leave a mess(name/forum). and a ph#, I love to chat SW and always like to place a face with a name!

Always fun to talk about on the boards also ;^)

Other Collectibles / Re: Sideshow 1/4 Statues?
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:01 PM »
I have no idea (I'll find out in 3 days ;^)

If I had to guess, I'd say they'll be statues.

By the way, thier approach to exclusives-ordering them on the net, then picking them up at the con absolutely rules!

I hope we see that idea expanded and used for CIII, but I doubt it.

Holy crap!  I didn't think anyone paid attention to a single word I ever said!

This now changes my whole outlook on life itself!

Yeah, I also suggested a few years back about doing troopers in the style of the old "green army men" AKA different poses like kneeling, prone position, etc.

Lo and behold they came out with the clone 3 packs-I may have to have a talk with Hasbro when I'm in San Diego this week ;^)

over the yrs. I've printed out and saved all my "ideas".  Love to talk with someone who influences things over there.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Questions on punched vs. unpunched cards
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:34 AM »
I'm in the same boat, I found that recently more and more of my ROTJ carded are unpunched, so all of a sudden, a ROTJ unpunched collection is sticking out in my mind.

Won't turn a good deal away punched or not, but unpunched just has that nice clean look to it.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Best vintage deals you've gotten
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:31 AM »
Here's a recent one:
4th of July weeekend-hit the local flea market at the cottage and found a $10 loose vintage 12" 3PO excellent condition.  Also, grabbed a carded NM ROTJ Nien Nunb for $20-great thing was it had the japanese sticker on the back of the card (65back).

2 vintage loose in M/NM condition for $2ea.

Not too shabby.

Collector's Tips / Re: Storing Loose Figs
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:27 AM »
Through the yrs. I've picked up a bunch of the plastic individual cases from Michaels(craft store) sometimes you can find them on sale which cuts the cost a little(still kind of pricey at around $1ea. (maybe less) I have one long shelf in my fireplace room with vintgae all in these cases(a few short of the entire loose run)

Keeps them dust free, and displays real nice.
