I do like the look of these, but I hate the concept and the very transparent money-making gimmick behind the marketing. I am going to pass on these pre-orders, just like the newest clone repaint. I'll likely only grab these if they end up on clearance in the future.

I think the thing that makes the last few of these especially annoying is that unlike other older exclusive gimmick releases, such as the Carbonized variants, these Fetts & his ilk all exist in the mainline TVC numbering scheme. I couldn't imagine being a full completionist these days, but it was at least somewhat possible to be a completionist with the main TVC numbered cards without needing to buy all of the super gimmicky figures. Clearly, that won't be true going forward.

Wow, only a month after the last two? I am skipping the preorder here. This one might just be the breaking point for me on these repaints. I may pick this up if I ever see it in person or if it is available elsewhere, but these kinds of repaints are definitely making collecting less fun.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2023 TVC Endor Bunker Playset
« on: December 7, 2022, 04:36 AM »
Very nice. $60 is a bit pricey but overall I think it looks like it is worth it based on current pricing. All the new detailing looks pretty great. I would agree that I wish the greenery was removable though.

I'm down for one to start. When this eventually hits sale prices as all the other playsets seemed to, I may even grab another 1-2 sets.

I only have 1-2 of this version and do like it, for the most part, but a $90 reissue (200% the original price) is far too rich for my blood. Maybe I'll change my mind down the road, but this is a pretty easy pass for now.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2023 TVC 3.75" Obi-Wan Kenobi 3-Pack

Got a delivery update from Amazon that says this is shipping next week.

Will be glad to get some more Obi-Wan figures, but still puzzled as to why they thought it was a good idea to put that army-builder Purge Trooper in there.

Agree, but we know it won't be a one-and-done. It will 100% get rereleased at some point soon. I'm still just sticking with my two sets for now and will wait to pick up any more duplicates.

Mine arrived today as well. Overall, I really like the set. The removable caps are a nice touch but they do kind of look a little like this...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Indiana Jones 5

I love Indy and will still see it, but I gotta say the trailer wasn't overly compelling. I'm going to try to not get my hopes up too high for this one, especially after Crystal Skull.

This one is going to be sooooo tough. I'd have a hard time narrowing it down to 20 figures for either movie on their own. I am even half tempted to just do Rogue One... (not because I have anything against Solo, but more because I love Rogue One so much.) I'll have to think on this one for a bit.

TV-9D9 / Re: Andor (SPOILERS possible)

I know it is early still... but man, Andor might be my favorite Disney-era show/movie, and it honestly is in the running for my favorite Star Wars media, period. I LOVED IT.

I’m still holding out hope for an Imperial Cargo Shuttle from Rogue One that would have the rest of the Rogue One crew as stretch goals.

Ooooo. That'd be a great one I hadn't really considered. If they put it out, they'd have the orange crates from the hovertank to pack-in as well. Hasbro would also be able to rerelease any of the crew members individually in the main line down the road. Just give them a slightly different accessory or cardback in the Has-Lab version and some people would even double dip.

For me, I'd be most likely to back a project from the OT, Rogue One, Andor, The Mandalorian, or the 3-D Animated series. I'd be much pickier projects from Solo, the Prequel, or Sequel trilogies.

I forgot all about this today... oh well at $22.99 I'm not particularly upset.

Denver also has Axe Woves and Morak Fett starting to show up in numbers, but only at select stores. I feel like the Target exclusives have been hit or miss on the pegs. Migs & R2 (Droids) were both pretty easy to find around here, Morak Fett & Axe are starting to look like they might be easier to find, and then Fett (Droids) & Koska Reeves were non-existent in Denver.

I'll be patient with this one and wait to see if it shows up and if it looks decent. At that price, I may even wait it out to see if it drops as Migs did...

Nah. You're wayyyyy off. Sim Aloo will be a surprise reveal next year. He's just a new head and a soft goods robe on any old body they want.
The last 96er figure will be Hammerhead. He's too much new tooling.

Don't forget the Kenner colors Hammerhead & Greedo repaints. Maybe a new Obi-Wan in regular colors first, and then a Kenner-colored rerelease.

I've struggled with this list. I have only seen the movies a few times each, and don't have a huge interest in figures from the trilogy outside of a few, but there is also so much that is still to be made. I am going to go with a combination of figures mostly from the other lists in this thread, a few cool aliens/droids:

  • Knight of Ren Cardo
  • Knight of Ren Kuruk
  • Knight of Ren Trudgen
  • Knight of Ren Ushar
  • Knight of Ren Vicrul
  • TFA - Han Solo (main outfit)
  • TFA - Lor San Tekka
  • TFA - HURID-327
  • TFA - Maz Katana
  • TFA - Unkar Plutt
  • TFA - Grummgar
  • TLJ - Ahch-To Caretaker
  • TROS/TLJ - Kylo Ren - Supreme Leader (w/ swappable heads)
  • TROS - Rey (main outfit)
  • TROS - Finn (main outfit)
  • TROS - Ben Solo
  • TROS - Palpatine (Rejuvenated)
  • TROS - Clone/Rotting Palpatine
  • TROS - Wedge Antillies (final battle)
  • TROS - Lando Calrissian (final battle)

I do like that the head is different. I can't tell if it's new or a re-use of Boba Fett.

I think it is just a repaint of the Morak/Tatooine Fett head. Looking at the image and the figure side-by-side the sculpt seems to line up. It does at least look good with the shaved head paint. Like Nick, I really wish they would have used this headsculpt on the Bad Batch Captain Rex release.

Hard to get really excited for this one, I ended up getting two since it is at least "regular" price (even if that regular price is the new $16.99...) I still like the Clones and ARCs, and am totally falling prey to these gimmick releases. I had missed the SDCC version, so this only feels like the SIXTH time I've seen this sculpt. And I have at least liked most of the decor versions. They had better start putting some Separatists and aliens into the line for them to fight though, or I'm going to lose interest real fast in future clone releases of any kind.

Oooffff. This is not good. The blatant price gouging of the Fett tax is ridiculous (especially apparent with so many Fett-themed items being released, and then re-released, over the last few years). If this was just a regular figure in the line at the standard price, fine. I wouldn't have been overly excited since it is just a gimmick-repaint but it is cool enough looking.

But releasing it as an exclusive with a price tag $8.00 more expensive than the version that came out two years ago? Get out of town. [Keeping politics out of this next bit] With inflation up everywhere globally, people are already worried about money and starting to change how they spend, especially with discretionary spending. I wonder how many collectors will start considering ditching the hobby if Hasbro keeps being this blatant with the Fett-Tax and the number of repaints, repack, and kitbashes in the current line. I feel like I've seen a few more of the more "prominent" collectors on social media starting to hint they are getting fed up or losing interest. I can't imagine the TVC line will survive another 1-2 years if Hasbro continues managing it like this.
