Celebration IV - Ultimate Group Project / Are we serious or not??
« on: December 3, 2006, 04:15 PM »
Just so you all know, I feel there is a excellent chance of getting the booth space at C4 but I need to know if you all are seriously commented to this project. I really do NOT want to be the only person at this booth with nothing to show. During this next chat, we need to determine if we are really going to do this and who is in and who is out.

In the last couple of weeks I've asked for a number of things to be taken care of. I know its the holiday season but certain assignments have to be completed soon.

Since I've got the next two weeks off from work, I'm in the middle of putting together the project resume. I need more concept artwork, more stuff put on the web site, more models of buildings and figures, a updated newsletter and a updated list of people who will be working.

To put it bluntly, we need to get off our collective butts and start getting really serious about this.

I present to you my latest custom, my son ;D

Watto's Junk Yard / Torchwood?
« on: November 9, 2006, 10:22 AM »
I know Torchwood is a BBC tv show and not on in the states but my friend has been getting copies of the show and I've got  say its pretty cool. There are alot of Doctor Who references and Captain Jack has some great background stories. The show is much like Men in Black combined with the X-Files with some nudity and language. Basically Torchwood collects alien technology and use it to defend the earth again alien attacks. Anyone see this show?

Here is a chance for you english majors out there and help give us a shot of getting a free booth. In 500 words of less write up a description and sales pitch for the UGP. I've already sent in one but lets make sure my feeble writting attempts don't doom our chances of participating.

Here is what they want.

Have an idea for a program or an activity? Do you have a special skill, and are willing to volunteer to share it with other fans? Please send a brief initial proposal (limit 500 words) to, or mail it to Star Wars Celebration IV; Attn: Mary Franklin; Lucasfilm Ltd., PO Box 29901, San Francisco, CA 94129. Include your email address and contact information. Briefly summarize what you would do, time and materials needed, number of people involved, and how the audience could participate, if at all. Initial proposals will be considered for final proposals, and do not guarantee scheduling during Celebration IV.

Please send it in to me before sending it to Mary Franklin.

TV-9D9 / A BSG-style Star Wars TV show?
« on: October 25, 2006, 03:57 PM »
I've been wondering what your opinion would be if the Star Wars TV show ended up being a realistic gritty drama much like the new Battlestar Galatica. Would this be a good thing or should it mimic the style and feeling of the movies?

I have an extra ep5 tin set with removeable snowtrooper helmet for anyone at cost plus shipping. Pm me.

The Prequel Trilogy / Making the prequals better
« on: October 17, 2006, 12:29 PM »
Recently, I've been thinking about how many different ways GL could have made the prequals much better. To me it seems he didn't have a complete story thought out before ep1 was written.

For example, they introduce a new jedi master called Qui-gon Jinn and then lets Maul kill him at the end of the movie. Later, they introduce Count Dooku being the same type of character that has fallen to the dark side. I think it would have been much better to have qui-gon survive ep1 and turn into the Count Dooku character in ep2. That was just poor planning on GLs part.

Qui-gon could have become disallusioned with the jedi order after being told he couldn't train Anakin and left to join the separists. That would have brought about the duel between Obiwan/Anakin and Qui-gon on Genosis. Having obiwan battle his former master would have been great forshadowing for the Anakin vs Obiwan duel later on. Then in ep3, it would have been great to see Anakin take on the man (qui-gon) that freed him from slavery and agrued to have him be trained as a jedi. What kind of gratude would it have shown for Anakin to kill Qui-gon?

Another thing would be that since Quigon doesn't die in ep1 he couldn't have come back as a ghost to teach Yoda how to become a force ghost. Yoda could have just told Obiwan how to do it instead of saying he's been in contact with quigon and knows how to do this. Besides, it still doesn't make sense that quigon never disappears when he is killed yet yoda and obiwan both do. Quigon never became part of the force so how could he tell Yoda how to do it?

I wonder how difficult it would be for ILM to replace Christopher Lee's head with Liemun Neasons and fix the stories?

Finally, we all know that Boss Ness ultimately served no purpose in the prequals. Why couldn't they have made Boss Ness a senator instead of Jar Jar? He's a better character than Jar Jar ever was. It would have made alot more sense except as a way for the Gungans to finally get rid of Jar Jar from their presence.

I don't know. Just a few ideas that I've been obsessing with lately. What are your ideas for 'fixing' the prequals beyond letting Jar Jar get run over by the ATT at the beginning of ep1?

Watto's Junk Yard / Jedi Training Academy comes to Disneyland
« on: August 2, 2006, 10:03 AM »
This is from Miceage:

...Where the real action will be for the boys in the family is over at Tomorrowland Terrace, where the Jedi Training Academy will be located. Notice how we didn't say "Club Buzz." Finally, mercifully, they've given up on the silly Club Buzz name no one ever really used and will be returning to the old Tomorrowland Terrace name instead. The facility is set for a remodel and the garish Buzz Lightyear color scheme and decor will be replaced. (Currently there's a holdup with the very touchy George Lucas organization over these plans, but they still should meet the October deadline.)

The Jedi Training Academy is the testosterone-laden version of the Princess Fantasy Faire, with little boys given the opportunity to train with an official Jedi on the fine art of lightsaber fights and generally brave behavior against an evil enemy. The highlight for this event is when the Tomorrowland Terrace stage (gosh, that's nice to say, isn't it?) rises up out of the ground and Darth Vader and Darth Maul both emerge from a cloud of fog to test the mettle of the newly trained Jedi's. You can imagine who will win every single battle, and sales of plastic lightsabers will certainly soar. Imagine the thrills (and walloped ankles) thousands of visitors will then experience as the little Jedi darlings get set loose to roam Disneyland with lightsabers in hand, as parents ignore their rambunctious, if not just plain hooligan-like behavior.
