You can order them directly from Tamiya but they look pretty expensive. Stores that sell model RC cars would have them as well as stores like HobbyPeople or stores that sell Warhammer game figures. Walmart and Target won't sell these paints. Michaels or any art supply store has the micron pens. They come in different colors and sizes.

Your using regular testors enamel paint? That stuff is going to leave your figures sticky forever and in some case melt the plastic. You must use acrylics for paint jobs.

The stuff I use is Tamiya paints. They are a little expensive but you will definately see the quality difference. You can pick them up any hobby store for about $1.50 each. Also I would suggest buying a can of Testors dull cote. That will seal the paint and remove the gloss. Finally, I would also suggest Testors Model Masters acrylic.

Finally invest in a good high quality set of paint brushes from an art supply store. They make it alot easier to paint. Also get a Micron .005 black pen ($2.50)  for details such as eyes and fine detail lines.

Lots of cool Fetts here. That female one is very creative. Good job on the armor sculpt. Sculpty can be a little hard to deal with but you made it look easy. The chest came out porportional and not too big. I really like the burn marks on the cape. That sith lord is a little distribing. It looks like she is bleeding for the eyes.  :o

Nice and simple starkid. The only thing I would do is paint the vest brown. Right now, the blue doesn't go with the color scheme of the cloud car pilot uniform.

Looks like someone got a new set of crayons for Christmas. :-X

Thanks everybody. I'm glad she turned out well.

Findswoman, you need to make a custom with one of these bodies. I can just imagine the wonderful details you could create with softgoods for this body.

She's finished. I've added the leather from Darth_Ripley to her belt. She is also wearing shoes but I don't think you can see the color change in these pictures.

Come get some!

Very cool set of black stormtroopers and a wicked Carnor Jax. These were fun customs to make when I made them. I don't know if you seen it but the hasbro version of the black stormtrooper has a picture of a prototype on the back. The prototype is wearing a blue body glove. I think that would be a great detail to add to this figure.

Do you have any pictures of Carnor Jax without his cape? I would love to see how detailed you got with the armor. Are you going to make Kir Kanos?

Cool. A new Rykrof. Is this guy part of the group project?

I think the flash shows off glare that seems to make the paint look strange. If you look at it under normal light it looks really good. I'll touch it up towards the end.

She is getting a softgoods skirt. Darth_Ripley sent me a huge amount of leather for this project. I'm planning on putting that on tonight and painting the boots.

Painting a microman figure really works well. It takes paint typically in one cote and doesn't peal off at the joints like hasbro plastic does.  I've posed my slave girl leia in lots of poses and the paint doesn't come off at the joints. The nice thing about these figures is they are very easy to take apart and they go back together tightly.

I get my micromen from Zira28 on ebay. She sells them for a buy it now of $6.49 with $7.00 shipping for Japan. Great deal and she gets them here within 3-4 days. They come in lots of colors and chest sizes. I'd recomend the medium since large and xlarge are a little hard to work with.

Here it is with the gauze. It definately has texture but I think too much blue is showing thru. That is basically an olive green with a dry brush of black. I think I need to dry brush olive green again. The shoes also need to be painted and the belt needs to be fashioned.

A balloon huh? That's an interesting idea. I'm going to have to try that on my next jedi.

Anyway, Brent asked what color mix I used for that color. I use Tamiya Sky Blue, Flat White and Neutral Grey. It's probably 70% white, 15% blue, 15% grey. Not sure since I added color constrantly as I mixed and compared to the head.

I'll have a picture with the gauze idea later.
