Saga Collection '06 / Numbering System 100+ ?
« on: November 1, 2005, 11:22 AM »
Not sure if anyone mentioned it before, but looking at the numbering on the figs it looks like this Series will be over a 100 figs or should I say has the potential to go over that number.  If you are not familiar with what I am talking about, I am referring to the 3 decimal places in the numbering system.  That or Hasbro is leaving an open door to continue this Series over the next couple of years if things work out.

Could be nothing as well, since the EP1 Commtech chips had numbers that led you to believe that there would be over 100 figs.

Modern Trading / Still Looking for Repaints
« on: October 28, 2005, 11:22 PM »
Is anyone still finding any of these?  I am hearing that in some places the Black Pilots are common.  If so, someone drop me a line.  I havent seen squat of them.  I would like a bunch for my Arc Fighter.  Also still looking for Red Shocktroopers if anyone has them. They can be loose or damaged cards.  They will be openers.

Black Pilots x 4
Red Shocktroopers x 3

I dont have squat for trade, but can paypal cash immediately, plus throw in some gas funds for the ridiculous prices at the pumps.    I have seen a bunch of Blys and Grees if anyone needs them. I may be willing to part with a spare loose
R2-B1 as well for 2 of the Shocktroopers or 3 of the pilots.  I paid $15 for him so I hope that would be somewhat fair.

Watto's Junk Yard / Anyone into music sharing, trading?
« on: October 27, 2005, 02:38 PM »
Im not talking about anything copyrighted here or about selling.  This is strictly from a fan standpoint. With the advent of the Net it has become a great resource over the years.

So what kind of stuff is everyone into? Who do you trade with?   For me its mainly Pink Floyd with a few other groups (Zep, Maiden, etc) here and there.  Always looking for every possible Live, Demo, Unreleased material I can get my hands on. No matter what the quality.  It really is amazing how much music and video has been discovered over the years.  And the trading community is alot bigger than I could imagine.

The Floyd stuff I collect is mainly from 68-80.  Big fan of the timeline between Obscured by Clouds through the Wall. Not such a fan of the Syd Barret era or post Waters stuff.   I am currently subscribed to a group that has access to over 500 different Pink Floyd shows.  I can never imagine when I will be complete downloading them all.  It sometimes blows me away how good some of the shows were and how good the quality is.  Its also great to hear these shows when they had bad nights or with no help of cleaning up the tracks like the copyrighted Live stuff which gets so cleaned up that sometimes it sounds nothing like the actual show.

Where is everyone finding stuff?  Always looking for new sites since sometimes there are some that are quite hidden out there.

Revenge of the Sith / Hold Date for Remaining Figs?
« on: October 26, 2005, 09:14 AM »
So I go to WM yesterday afternoon and find the island which has been discussed on the boards.  Its loaded with DVD 3-packs and the last 12 figs.  I buy a couple of each figs and the DVD clone pack and head off to the checkout.

The DVD packs ring fine.  Then the basic figs are not in the system.  I waited 30 minutes for a price check and this is what I get.  Sorry we cant sell you these figures since they arent suppose to be on the floor.  I then mention that someone has bought some recently because the 501st Clone is the only fig not available.  I can see if 1-2 figs were on the floor, but there were tons.    We still cant  help you .  By now I have about 5 customers behind me that are pissed at me because I am holding them up.  Only 2 registers are open.  Then the person who denies me to buy them asks me what I want to do.  Wrong question to ask me.  I want to buy them and they still say no.  By now I am floored and said if you want to know what I want, but wont sell them, to stop jerking me off and think before you ask such a stupid question.   I ask for the Manager who is not in the store that day. Now I have 3 WM employees telling me that my behavior is a bit much.  I leave the other items I bought and told them to pound sand.

Fast forward a few hours when I go back that night.  The items are still on the island and my figures have been returned.  Fortuenately the MGR is now in the store but unfortuneately he has less gray matter then then the people working there.  Denied again.

Anyone else finding a hold on figs til the DVD release?  I can understand if the movie had not been released yet, but this a bit much.  One again it confirms that retail does not have the brightest lightbulbs in the business.

If anyone needs a copy of this list, just drop me a message, and an email to send.  It has been fully revised to show chronological order from POTF2 '95 up to the first wave of SAGA '06.  List includes exclusives, repacks, repaints, bonus battle droids, bonus pit droids, etc. in order of the waves which they were released, as well as dates, cardback info, series, assortment and numbers and some minor variation info.

Not included: Vehicles, Beasts, Deluxe, Pack-Ins and  Multi-Packs.

Also note that the SAGA and OTC figures are listed in order of there respected numbers and not case assortment.

Next step will be to link carded and loose pics to the database.

Revenge of the Sith / Who the Hell does this?
« on: September 26, 2005, 07:52 AM »
I wont link the pic.  But I was looking at a topic on another forum and noticed some peoples Clone Armies.  Now I have nothing against someone who wants hundreds of Clones, but why would someone army build cases of figs and leave them unopened in the boxes?  I am just not getting the logic.  I would feel like such a tool for even posting a pic of 5-6 or more cases of Shocktrooers, SA Clones, etc still in the package.   ???

Modern Trading / Anyone need the new Tie?
« on: September 16, 2005, 08:27 PM »
I picked this up this afternoon and after looking at it for a bit, it just aint what I expected.  The wings seem the right height but much too wide IMO.  I will sell for cost, if not I will be returning it next week.  If anyone is interested you should know the box is pretty beat up, so it would be an opener for someone.  Plus shipping in the original box would cost a bit I suppose, and I would recommend shipping loose.  I would trade for any of my wants as well.

Red Shocktrooper x 3
AT-RT Driver x 2
Black Clone Pilot x 2
Green Clone Commander x 2
Clone Evolution

I am not super picky on card conditon and one of each can be loose.  Thanks, Jim

Watto's Junk Yard / New Baby Arrived This AM
« on: September 13, 2005, 07:51 PM »
Well i'm about to crash after being awake for about 40 straight hours.  My wife started labor pains last night at about 10PM.  After the first 36 hour labor marathon with Tyler we decided to stay home as long as possible.  Got to the hospital at 4AM and Amanda Catherine was delivered at 9:30AM.  Baby, Mom and Dad are tired but doing good.  Tyler is a bit confused as any single child I guess, and is already pushing the attention meter.

The strange thing is my Mom who passed away a little over a year ago was not here to welcome a grand daughter that she so much wanted from us.  But in some ways she was here.  My Mom's birthday also fell on the 13th.  And the baby's weight was 6-13, my Mom's birthday.  And on a stranger note, I am not sure if I told this story.  At the exact time my Mom died last year, our pendulum clock at our home stopped at that exact time she passed, except the pendulum continued to swing.  We finally had to fix it after a year because it was a bit awkward and eerie to stare at everyday.  Do I believe in this type of hoopla I dont know, but it makes you wonder if someone is watching out for some of us, corny as that sounds.

Lights out here and a round of cyber cigars and shots for all ;)  God Bless :)

Revenge of the Sith / Walmart done with 4" Line?
« on: September 10, 2005, 11:20 AM »
Two of my local WM have not carried the 4" line for around 2 months now.  I ended up talking to the Store MGR and he told me that they are no longer under contract for that line.  I thought it to be strange, so I asked the other Store MGR and she said the same thing.  They have both done resets and there are no pegs to be found.  They both said that they would still continue to carry the Playskool line and that crappy oversized Galactic line as well as lightsabers.  If anyone else has seen no figs in there stores for some time, can you get some feedback to me?  This makes no sense, but at the same time my two stores do not carry this line anymore.

Watto's Junk Yard / Goodbye Collecting (for the most part at least)
« on: August 24, 2005, 12:00 PM »
So how many of you have struggled with this.  With a new family member due in a couple of weeks, plus a buttload of several other uncontrollable issues in my life, I am giving up for the most part the majority of my collecting habits.  The disposable cash just wont be there with all that is going on in our lives right now. My son is starting preschool, oil and gas prices, property taxes going up for the 3rd time in 4 years among everything else with this f'ed up economy.  How tough have some of you found it to go practically cold turkey?  My main focus is army building, something I have been doing for 10 years now.  It will be tough.  I thought it would be best to just get rid of as much, as quick as possible.  I finished packing up all my army builders last night and was amazed at how much plastic I have.  Over 1000 army builders.  Its a disease I tell ya.  The only good part is that a woman who works with my wife got me in touch with a guy who collects and is really interested in 90% of what I have.  We spoke briefly last night and it sounds like I will be able to recoup a good part of the cash back, something that is rare.  I have been fortuneate to have alot of figs that held price farily well.  Notably Stormtroopers, Clones, Darktroopers, Arcs, etc. Its painful to see all the efforts of tracking down this stuff fade away.  Im left with basically buying a couple of each fig and thats its.  Way to much money.  I dont know how some of you folks do it.  Its painful I tell ya.  I think i'm going to need couciling for the withdrawls.

Watto's Junk Yard / Need Conversion Help regarding FLAC files
« on: August 14, 2005, 07:43 PM »
Looking for some suggestions on converting flac files to either cda or mp3.  I have tried a few programs and have not been too happy with either.  I have Nero and this has been the main suggestion for conversion.  I tried to upgrade but have had problems.  I have way to many live shows in flac to try and find them in a different format.
