All these movies that I bought this week and we didn't overlap once!

Jesus is Magic
Black Hawk Down Extended
The Three Burials of Meliqiuades Estrada
The Heart is Decietful above all Things (still have to find a copy of this)

Well, I saw "Jesus Is Magic" about a week ago and didn't think it was at all funny, I already own the 3 disc BHD, while I liked "The Three Burials.." it doesn't have any rewatch value (IMO), and "The Heart Is Deceitful" was just bizarre.

Unfortunately, "Running Scared" is going to be the "Equilibrium" of the action genre, because nobody likes Paul Walker. It's easily one of the heaviest, most original, and visually stunning action movies of the past decade.

Dead Thread Risin'.

This weeks additions:

Running Scared
Underworld: Evolution
Fast and the Furious: Franchise Collection
Dazed and Confused: Criterion Collection

..and of course my new home theatre components. So, needless to say, I'm broke.

New "Platoon" has a HD remaster, 2 new documentaries, 12 deleted scenes, and a DTS track though, in addition to the specs from the 5 year old SE.

BTW, both "Transformers: The Movie" and "This Island Earth" are getting re-releases in a couple of months. Specs are iffy, but if you couldn't afford the originals, now's the time. I dumped mine already in anticipation.

I got "Date Movie" Unrated, and the new 2 Disc "Platoon". Can't wait to exercise my new HT with it. ;D

There's the Theatrical, the "Director's Cut", and the "Final Cut" as far as I know. The DVD that's out later this year is the DC, which may be all the "standard" DVD buyers will have available to them.

So the big question is when are you going to upgrade your collection to Blu-Ray?

 :D

Seriously though, is that SW display full of movies?

A lot of what I have won't be upgraded, but should I get a HD-DVD player down the road, certain titles are a must, namely Sci Fi.

That indeed is Episodes 1-6 in that DVD display. Nabbed it from work. Six spots, six movies, no brainer.

"Boondock Saints" SE is uncut. The runtime is about the same as the original R1 Fox, and that's because, from what I'm led to believe, there were literally seconds shaved off of the movie in the R rated version.

DVD Compare: Boondock Saints

The 2 sided disc is so, so ugly..especially when it's in such a badass metalbook a la "Appleseed".

Nice looking collection Cory!

Thank you, sir. I dig your arch rack, BTW. Never seen anything like it before! I updated my photo above. Better lighting, slightly higher rez, and no scrollbar.

I imagined your collection would be a lot bigger Cory.  ;) Very nice.

Thanks! If I were to have kept all the movies I've had over time, I wouldn't have room for them all. I prune my collection so often, it's not even funny. A lot of times I feel like I have to sell something I own to justify buying anything new, even though I make sizable profits off of the discs I purchase for re-selling.

Working at Hollywood, I rent free of course, so on top of being able to scout potential additions, I also have the freedom to sell off movies I like moderately, would watch again, but wouldn't watch alot, and just rent them whenever. The thing is, what I own, there's a good 1/4 that aren't available for rental, so I just hang on to them.

Back to the whole categorization, this is what I've got in place right now. Just empty amaray cases from work splitting up genres.

I sold 1/2 of my Disney collection the other day, as well as my copy of "This Island Earth" to get a new DVD player (Sony DVP NS75H), and my next project is probably going to be some shelves from IKEA here in Bloomington.

I'm around 615 578 titles or so, and I've been incredibly strict as to what I keep. I come across so much stuff in my pawn shop travels, I sell off the mediocre to make room for the better quality/rarer pieces.

There's been a lot of moving and shaking my collection as of late.

Got that Boondock Saints metalbook. Also picked up Wrestlemania 22 at Wal Mart, just because they were offering "Rey Mysterio: 619" as the bonus disc. Price matched it with CC for $14.99, then took the $5 coupon from the "See No Evil" promo disc from BB, and got WM22 and the bonus disc for $9.99  :D

Those "Scrubs" sets are ridiclously overpriced, and I found S1 for $15 at Pawn America, and as bad as I want them, I'll just hold off.

PS2's aren't designed to double as DVD players.

Then why do they play DVD's?

I thought it was fairly obvious that by what I said, it was implied they weren't designed to be EVERYDAY USE DVD PLAYERS, but I guess not, so here;

Clarification complete.
