Saga '02-'04 / Re:Hoth Han and Chewie 2003!
« on: January 9, 2003, 06:16 PM »
I'm unhappy with both, but I wasn't wanting another Chewie anyway... it's the Han I'm all disturbed about... As good as Bespin Luke looks as far as likeness goes, I'm amazed Hasbro can still put put a Han together that doesnt look a bit like Han, that tells you something... they're lazy. We haven't had a decent Han since POTJ, that also tells you something.

Jacket should be brown, but I don't really care as if it was brown the pose still ruins the figure.

Now....., what's this about firewood? ::)

Quote
Last I heard he didnt have any bids? Does this holds true or did someone eventually buy the firewood?
Now come on, if you didnt get scared that somebody may buy it just to use the wood for simple pleasures in the winter-time then you've never been to Alabama!

Hey Micheal, good to see ya here.

I just asked about you on 'scum yesterday because I couldn't get your site to pull up (I had wrong address), I was wondering...

What projects are you working on at the moment, what ever happened to the Tantive?

AE's Reviews:Zam Wessel
Pro's -
Great improvement from the 'Preview' version. Good articulation.
Con's-
Action feature, change-ling "face" doesn't fit well

----------------------------------------------------

Movie Accuracy : 9/10
I'm a big fan of Zam because I think the costume is great looking... Because the figure is accurate to the movie, this is one of the better looking Saga Figures around right now. Good. The face isn't dead-on, but it's close enough.

Articulation : 8/10
Holy moley! 12 points total! I'm so pleased that the 'Preview' Zam improved from maybe 5 points to a GOOD Zam of 12. Perfect. Of course, the "action feature" makes the 1 arm a bit immoble at time but thank-god you can still pose the arm. One of the points is actually her arm that is a magnet... Very nice-strong magnet, I'm pleased. Unfortunately her wrist on that arm isnt artic'd like the other is, but 12 is a lot to ask for and still be unhappy. I'm pleased.

Pose-ablility : 8/10
I can have her on her knee, running (with a stand)... all of this stuff... but I can't have her holding her long-rifle... The magnet hand is to blame, as if it were ball-joint it probably woulda been able to hold a rifle like she does in the movie. I'm still pleased.

Customizer's Factor :
I'd just shave the changle-ing face enough to actually fit her, but that's all I'd do... there's really nothing that completely ruins this figure (see Jango Pilot for an example of that), so I wouldn't custom her.

Last word :
Great figure.

Pro's -
Perfect likeness, Head sculpt is best I've ever seen.
Con's-
Jet-pack isn't removable. Action feature has completely ruined the figure beyond decency.

----------------------------------------------------

Movie Accuracy : 9/10
This is the best looking figure in a long time. Perfect head-sculpt, decent kick-ass pose but not an over-done action-pose. This guy looks great on your desktop. The only cons is the jetpack is not accurate (as it is a button).

Articulation : 2/10
There's 8 points total, but because of the P.O.S action feature, only 6 of the 8 are workable points (the "action" feature completely ruins the arms). The elbows are decently posed so that they can be articulated at different positions and look nice, and legs are actually decently straight instead of skewed out at a stupid angle. This figure should have been perfect, but the Hasbro morons put this "arm slinging" action feature in and completely F'D up the figure. I'll make this very clear, his shoulder joints are as limp as your vintage C3PO's... His shoulder joints cannot be moved without pressing the jet-pack button, in which case the arms jump up into a firing position. P.O.S, you cannot pose beyond moving his elbows and head.

Pose-ablility : 2/10
What a disgrace... This action feature really did ruin this figure. This figure could have EASILY been in my top 5 Saga list. You cant pose his arms because of his shoulders.

Customizer's Factor :
Salvage this thing as much as you can... if you can figure out how to take the Kamino Escape arms and torso, and keep the Pilot legs, arms, and head, you'll have a perfect figure. AKA- if you think you can fix the action feature and make the arms work, you've got a perfect figure.

Last word :
I'm so disapointed with this figure because I see how great it could have been were it not for the P.O.S action feature. Hasbro should re-release this figure w/o a action feature so I buy it and return this... travesty.

My godfather's son was a huge Star Wars fan when I was about 3 (born in '84), and so because he was an older kid and he was nice enough to share his toys with me... how could I NOT automatically like Star Wars with him... He liked it and so I liked it, and I'm not sure why, but even after GI Joe and GhostBusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... I still loved Star Wars more. The first vintage toy I ever owned was probably when I was about 6. I bought a naked Logray Ewok for a nickel at a garage sale. I ended up slowly getting more and more until finally I've probably got 1K of vintage stuff and almost every modern figure made to date (or at least the ones I've wanted to spend $ on).

Watto's Junk Yard / Favorite Actors?
« on: January 3, 2003, 11:56 AM »
Who are your favorite actors? And why?
Mine would be:

Marlon Brando -
Godfather was a great movie, and it couldnt have been without him because he was 'the godfather' without a doubt. Just perfect acting all around in my opinion. I'm a big fan of gangster movies, and so that puts him on my Best Actors list automatically. To cement him on my list was Apocalypse Now. Now A.N. has its fans and haters, but I found it to be both extremelly great and extremelly confusing at the same time. Regardless of how the movie was, Brando did a really good job as the "insane but brilliant" Col. Wurtz, the way he read his lines was, at times, so good that I didn't even think about the confusing parts of the movie that bugged me most of the movie, I just listened. Like Hoper said, 'You dont talk to the Colonel, you listen.'

Harrison Ford -
In my opinion he is the best actor living, at least tied up with Brando. He was perfect in Star Wars 4 through 6, Indiania Jones 1 through 3, and all kinds of other movies from President, Patriot, Blade Runner (I didnt like Blade Runner that much) and his best movie besides Indiana and SW's, the Fugitive. The thing about Ford that I admire is that he is a nice person who (at least apparently) cares about other people. He signs autographs (if you got a Brando autograph its fake), and he flies a helicopter around saving stranded people... Now how cool is that? Oh yea, on a side note, Harrison Ford was in Apocalypse Now with Marlon Brando, and his name was "Lucas", you do the math. :)

George C. Scott -
I've liked his performance in every movie he's done, at least the ones I've seen. I didn't like the movie where he's the grandpa of the fat kid, but he did pretty good in such a lame movie. He did real good in 12 Angry Men, which I really liked, and his big one is easily Patton, where he basically made me believe that he was Patton... period. Unfortunately he passed away, but I'm still a big fan of his because older movies are better than these newer ones anyway.

Plz share with me your favorite actors and why so I dont have a big post with 0 replies, I post rarely enough already, lol.

Coming from someone who hasn't read the books and thus didn't know what was going to happen....

The movie was really cool, at least the combat made the movie awesome, the storyline w/ all these weird names doesn't make it all too fluid for me, but then again I havent read the books. It all eventually makes sense.
