In my case, they had both lines.

Nice - thanks! Going to have to check a couple Five Below stores on the way home tonight! :D

I just saw a bunch of stuff at 5 Below that I'd never seen also.  A couple of the armors were kind of cool...never knew they existed.

   E...

Were they the Iron Man 2 line or the follow up "Armored Avenger" line that featured the Concept Hammer Drone? That's the one figure I wish I could still get since it closely resembles the armor Whiplash wears at the end of the movie.

Walked into the Toys R Us near my job last night and was shocked to see a 2011 Republic Frigate set on the shelf, priced at $85. I had a $15 off coupon if I spent $50 or more, plus I had $10 in Rewards R Us bucks - so I got it for $60 + tax AND I got a $10 gift card since I spent more than $40 in Lego.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Speculation

Star Wars has always been more about the visuals and the story with a lot less focus on the acting (I'm looking at you Hayden and Natalie).

Not to stir up another hornet's nest, but I'm convinced that what performances we got out of Hayden and Natalie were a product of 20% their own doing, and 80% bad directing. Lucas got LUCKY with ANH and like you pointed out things like "But I wanted to pick up some power converters whine whine whine" is pretty bad - we just forgive it because most of us look back at ANH through a VERY thick pair of rose colored glasses.

I have seen both Hayden (Life as a House) and Natalie (Black Swan) turn in performances that were great. In fact, if I were to pick their WORST performances EVER, it would be their performances in the Star Wars prequels.

I guess I should have also stated that in ANH - Luke & Leia are supposed to be 19 years old. Another three years pass between ANH and ESB so that makes them both 22 at the time of ESB. ROTJ supposedly only takes place 1 year after ESB so that means they would be 23 years old in ROTJ.

Han was 29 years old in ANH which means in ROTJ he's 33 - ten years older than Leia.

Even if Leia didn't have kids for ten years after ROTJ, it would still mean she had her first kid at 33 years old (Han would be 43). Last time I checked, women have kids that this age all the time w/o any problem whatsoever.

So setting the ST 30 years after ROTJ means that when they start, the ages of the main three characters are:
Luke - 53
Leia - 53
Han - 63

And the ages of the actors in 2015:
Mark Hamill - 64
Carrie Fisher - 59
Harrison Ford - 73

With the help of makeup and movie magic, I have no doubt that Hamill and Ford can be made to look like they're playing characters only a mere 10 years younger than their actual ages. Considering that in 1977, a 57 year old Obi-Wan Kenobi was portrayed by a 63 year old Alec Guiness and NO ONE seems to mind, I don't think another four years is that much of a stretch.

And Fisher is only 6 years older than Leia would be at the time, so again, not enough of an age difference to get so upset about.

For me, I didn't mind how they changed the Mandarin - in fact there was one line in the movie that IMHO means that The Mandarin could always be in a future Marvel Universe movie.

(sorry, I'm trying not to spoil anything, but it's kinda hard)

Was surprised when I got into work today - one of my co-workers picked up for me one of the Lego Store Holocron Droids that were the in-store build back on May 1st. She had gotten one for her son, but he didn't want it so she brought it in for me knowing that I'm a Star Wars fan!

I am surprised at how cool this little guy is!

Other Toy Lines / Re: Star Trek

Picked up the complete Series One Kre-O sets for Star Trek the other day to add to my wife's Star Trek collection. When I got them home she didn't care for them so I took them all back today. Oh well...

Was tempted to keep one of the smaller items to see how well the light-tech stuff worked but decided against it.

Wish Hasbro had done a 3.75" line for this movie - could have been great.

Maybe the originals' grandkids... 70-year-olds don't have 20-something kids.

2015 - 1983 = 32 years

Why is it so unrealistic that Han & Leia and Luke & mystery woman (I won't say Mara Jade anymore since she could be negated by the ST) waited 5-7 years after the events of Return of the Jedi to have kids? If they did, the first born would be 27 years old at the start of the movie and would still very much be considered a 20-something. 20-something doesn't have to mean 20 or 21.

Personally I'd welcome a movie that, while always aimed also at kids, I hope kids/teens on the big screen take a back seat to adults.

The caveat to that though is that out of any director in Hollywood, Abrams is someone I would trust with directing kids in a movie - while the plot of Super 8 wasn't all that great, the acting on the part of the kids in that movie was fantastic and even if just ONE of the offspring of the Solo/Skywalkers has a kid themselves, if that kid is handled in the same way the kids in Super 8 were handled, we'll be just fine.

Ordered the Malevolence (sp?) today from shop.lego.com to qualify for my free Brown Coat Hoth Han Solo.

Also swung by my local Toys R Us to get the Jek 14's mini Stealth Fighter. Never been to an event like that where they just have the parts out and you can build it right there and walk out the door with it. That was pretty cool. I had expected it to just be the kind of thing where they had the set in a polybag for sale for $4.99 or something.

Just to echo what everyone else has said - saw it last night and thought it was great. While there were definitely good moments in IM2, IM3 was a much better movie.

I definitely see how this movie could be a launching point for a War Machine movie and it did give Rhodey enough to do both in and out of the War Machine suit to show that such a movie could easily exist.

Would be cool of they used a War Machine movie to start a Marvel Movie Universe "phase" leading up to a West Coast Avengers movie. With talk of Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver possibly being in the next Avengers and Coulson (sp?) becoming The Vision - giving Cheedle and Renner the leading roles with those other members making up the rest of the team, could make for a neat movie.

Though every minifigure I see, makes me want to buy whole big assed sets.

Tell me about it.

When you contemplate getting a redesign of a vehicle you already have just for a single mini-figure, you know you have a problem. For me it's that damn Gungan Sub - it doesn't even look all that different from the 1999 version, yet it has one thing that the 1999 one didn't - a Queen Amidala mini-fig....  :-\

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Disney Buys LFL
« on: April 22, 2013, 02:17 PM »
I don't know about that. LucasArts hasn't self published a good game since the early '90s. They have acted mostly as distributer. Lucas licensing has given everyone and their dog a license to make Star Wars stuff. There is too much product saturation out there.  Lucasfilm Animation was laughed at for the Clone Wars because of their wooden looking characters. Just look at Obiwan's hair! Lucasfilm Animation also made Rango and it was not well received. They just aren't in the same league as Pixar or even Disney Animation.

For me the best example is to look at the How to Tame Your Dragon franchise - the movie was great - granted the adult vikings were a bit distorted for effect, the level of detail in the 3D animation was great. They have successfully translated that level of detail to the TV series that's also on Cartoon Network. I was shocked to find that watching an episode of the show was just like watching an extension of the movie, combined with the fact that the voices were being done by many of the same people, made it all the more appealing.

So if Dreamworks could do it, I don't see any reason why the Clone Wars couldn't have been better looking. Heck, if they had done something in the same league as Pixar (i.e. Brave) then we may have never needed to have a separate "animated" style figure line at all...
