30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Wave 7 - Battle of Endor

If you don't have a dremel, use an appropriately sized drill bit to scoop out that extra bit to make it fit better. Takes 5 seconds to do by hand.

I appreciate the suggestion, however, I'm horrible with the dremmel - perhaps it's cause I'm not patient, I'm not sure. I'm always worried that I'm going to end up ruining the head and then it's no good on EITHER body.

Yeah, the Hawkbat clone is not going to be hard to find folks...
Wave 8, Revision 3 will come with TWO Hawkbat Clones with coins.

Yeah - that's the case I have on order with them. I think in the Wave 8 Revision 2 case there's two of them as well. But like I said, when I already have at least 2 of every other TAC figure open and I really don't need any of the other figures in the case, it's a bitter pill to swallow to get 10 other figures I don't need.

You will see it being put out through April.  Additionally, I think the Hawkbat is repacked into Wave 1 of 2008.
You'll have Hawkbats coming out of your ears.

Well - like evenflow pointed out, the key thing here is the coins - if Hasbro allowed me to buy JUST the Hawkbat coin from HTS, I'd be okay with that. Unfortunately, the Hawkbat figure in Wave 1 of 2008 will NOT be coming with a coin, instead he will be coming with a stand.

I have yet to see this wave in ANY store! If were not for HTS I would not ever have one of these figures yet, I would still like to pick up a couple extra clones from this wave.  Thank god for HTS!

I have yet to see this wave in any store either.

As a matter of fact, I'm down to only one figure left to get for my TAC collection to be complete - the Hawkbat Battallion Clone.

A friend of mine ordered five cases of this wave online, he already got them and I traded with him for his extras for a boatload of Wave 8 figures I picked up for him when I scored mine.

Thanks to that trade I now have 5x Rebel Vanguard, 5x Naboo Soldier, 5x 7th Legion Trooper (2 of these were from HTS), 3x Pax Bonkik, 3x Holo Vader and 3x R2-B1. The only reason why he got five cases in the first place is because the Hawkbat clone ships 1 per case, so he needed five cases to meet his needs.

So now that I STILL have yet to see this wave anywhere, I'm getting nervous that I might not get all of the Hawkbat clones I need - minimally I need three of them (one MOC, two to open to complete my two coin albums). Ideally I want five of them. I have a case on order with EE that has 2 Hawkbat clones in it, but I HATE getting cases for just one or two figures. While I do end up with a lot of extra other figures, I always end up feeling like I paid $84 just for the two figures I needed.

Hopefully this wave will start to ship in mass quantities soon - I'm hoping that Wave 7.5 will be what Target starts to get to fill all of the empty pegs they have post Toy Aisle reset.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 2008 Order 66 packs?
« on: December 29, 2007, 11:18 PM »
Anyone going to wait this time and get them when they go on clerance a month later like Target did last year? ;D

I will get two sets at regular price. One to keep MIB and the second to open.

The rest I will pick up on clearance. I'm at the point now with my collecting that if I am unable to score some of them at clearance so I can build squads of the clones then I won't sweat it. Besides, it looks like the most I would want of any of these sets would be a second one to open of all of the ARCs and Commander Vill. I might get three additional openers of the AT-RT and BARC Trooper sets, but again, that's only if I come across them once the clearance prices are set.

For the 2007 ones, I got five of the Kashyyyk Trooper, Utapau AT-RT Driver, Galactic Marine and 501st Airborne Trooper sets and three each of the other two sets all at regular price during the first few days of them hitting. I expected the sets to be (a) limited and (b) highly sought after. Unfortunately for me, neither was the case.

The McClam head fits pretty nice on the A-Wing pilot, for a little variety.  And vice versa.

I did that as well, along with the Rebel Honor Guard head. All three heads work nicely on all three bodies.

I think the McQuarrie Rebel Trooper and the Rebel Honor Guard are close enough to work. However, I found the neck post on the A-Wing pilot is too long and with both the McQuarrie Rebel and Rebel Honor Guard heads the new "character" ends up looking like they have the neck of a giraffe.

Maybe I'm being too picky. I would have loved to mix and match A-Wing pilots, Rebel Honor Guards and McQuarrie Rebel Troopers like this. Heck - throw in the Naboo Soldier too (although that would have meant that the Yellow version from last year would have also worked too)

Too bad she didn't end up looking like your picture. It's a much more interesting figure.

Yes, but then Hasbro couldn't re-use the body for other Generic Female Imperial Officers.

I think Hasbro sees value in the Evolutions 3-pack concept since it allows them to bring characters in from the PT as well as sources like the comics and video games and that is why Vintage as we have known it is probably over. If there was going to be a year where they made re-creations of the POTF figures with coins, this would have been the year since the regular figures had coins too.

I think everyone really wants to see Vintage style treatment given to PT Obi-Wan and Padme Amidala and the vehicle for those is the Evolutions sets.

I could see them releasing a small 10th Anniversary tribute to The Phantom Menace in 2009. It would be similar in concept to the vintage line, but again, not the same since we're not talking about making new Kenner style card-backs of TPM characters. In this case the "retro" aspect would be that we're given the figures on the Darth Maul red Episode 1 cardbacks. I could see a VERY nice wave consisting of:

Anakin Skywalker
Jar Jar Binks
Battle Droid (SA, sturdy and can completely fold up like in the MTT racks)
Senator Palpatine
Obi-Wan Kenobi (an Evolutions set of Obi-Wan would probably leave this figure out)
C-3PO
Padme Amidala (Final Battle on Naboo)
Watto

While I doubt such a collection would ever be created (I'm sure they'd insist on releasing Darth Maul YET AGAIN), it would definitely be nice.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro Q&A Sessions

I haven't looked at the SOTE Comics lately, how does Leia appear before she gets the Boushh disguise? Like when she first meets up with Xizor.

Considering that they have released this figure 2 times in as many years, I would really hope that they plan on giving us something new for Leia.

I am also excited to see an updated Xizor, but like the rest of you, I would have preferred a Guri figure or an updated Dash Rendar to Leia.

Perhaps they plan on eventually hitting all six of the SOTE comics eventually - I wouldn't mind seeing a 2-pack of Dash Rendar and his droid Leebo.

There were some great designs and characters in SOTE, I would love to see them do something like this:

Issue 1: Luke Skywalker w/Tan Vest (easy mod to TAC Luke) & Jix
Issue 2: Boba Fett (ESB colors of VOTC figure) & Furlag
Issue 3: Big Gizz & Spiker
Issue 4: Chewie in Snoova Disguise (mod of VOTC/EBK figure w/new head & removeable armor) & Guri
Issue 5: Dash Rendar (SA & all new) & Leebo
Issue 6: Leia & Xizor (SA & all new)

There are some other characters that could easily be swapped in as well: Lando or Luke in Coruscant Guard armor or just a regular SA Coruscant Guard, Skahtul, Howzmin, etc...

Too bad they didn't have the comic 2-packs in 2006, that would have been the ideal time to release them all in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the project.

I had one sitting on next to my desk waiting to be opened - I just cracked it open and looked all around. No sign of the antennae for the two SA Clones.

My guess is that they were either forgotten or left out on purpose. The photography on the back does not show the clones with antennae, so I'm assuming that it was left out on purpose.

The Legacy Collection / Re: TOY FAIR 2008

BAF?

BAF = Build-a-Figure

The Rebelscum rumor report for 2008 stated that there would be a "Droid Factory" component to 30 figures in the basic figure line in 2008, where each of the 30 figures came with a part to build a droid. It has yet to be seen if all 30 parts will combine for one big droid or if the 30 parts will combine to form multiple droids.

I too hope that they will be unveiling this feature of the Star Wars line.

Hasbro has taken the concept started by Toy Biz in the Marvel Legends line, continued it in their own Marvel Legends line and they have now expanded it to collector waves of Spiderman and Fantasic Four figures. I think it is about time that they brought this concept to the Star Wars figure line.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Target TIE Bomber
« on: December 22, 2007, 12:34 PM »
I haven't seen these since the weekend of the big WOW launch at Target.

Of all of the recent Target exclusives, I think this one was the weakest. Like Darth Anton said, it was nice to see them put the vehicle back out into circulation - but the only thing that really compelled me getting more than just one was the light-gray paint-job. If it had been the same paint application/color as the second WM release, I would have easily passed on getting one just to open.

I would be okay with that, especially if it ended up being a joint exclusive with StarWarsShop.com - if you pre-order the game, you get one for free. If you want just the figure, it will be $10 from SWS.

3043
There are no Hasbro Sub-lines that I do not regret not buying. In recent years, the only three sub-lines I've passed on are: Force Battlers, Galatic Heroes, Star Wars Choppers.

I will continue to pass on Galactic Heroes. I will also be passing on Mighty Muggs.

I kinda wish I had passed on the Star Wars Transformers sub-line and the 2" Unleashed Sub-line, but I'm deep into collecting those now so I can't just stop (damn OCD).

I did feel regret earlier this year with the 3" Titanium Vehicles, I had not been getting those and in the past six months I have caught up to the point where I only need three of the four WalMart 5-packs and somewhere in the ball-park of 20 individually carded ships. I'm not in any rush to be 100% caught-up with these, so it's fun to try to pick up more when 3.75" figures are in a lull.

3044
I guess for me, there's still too much mis-information going on regarding exactly what we're getting for The Force Unleashed sub-line. I want to believe the 411 report, but it has had some things wrong in past years. I want to believe Hasbro's comment that there will not be any more Force Unleashed figures beyond Wave 2, but this whole discussion centers around a figure that isn't in Wave 2 but is clearly based on The Force Unleashed.

I understand Hasbro has to be hush-hush - it makes the buyers for WalMart and Target feel like they're working for the CIA. Also, Hasbro doesn't want their ideas to get out before they're in stores 'cause the Mattel and Playmates lines for The Force Unleashed might steal some of their ideas and make their Force Unleashed figures even better.  ::)

Since this version isn't in one of the WalMart 3-packs and it's not in the Wave 2 assortment, what do you all think the chances are this figure will be a Target Exclusive just like the Saleucami and Utapau Shadow Trooper clones were?

While they haven't had a specific figure as an exclusive for a while, I could totally see Target wanting an exclusive figure as part of their Force Unleashed offerings.
