The Force Awakens / Re: Force Friday: What are You Buying?
« on: September 10, 2015, 07:51 AM »
Disappointing thst they don't have any of the Second wave of BS 6" figures, nor the second wave of Armor Up guys, nor the Mission Series 2-packs. All of that stuff has been found in stores already. Just not many. I would have bought all that...

Wait... I addition to Wave 2 of the Build-a-Weapon Jungle/Space/Desert/Snow figures there's already a second wave of the Armor-up figures? And they have been found? Who's in wave 2?

LEGO / Re: Recent Acquisitions
« on: September 8, 2015, 09:18 PM »
Grabbed the new TFA Falcon over the weekend from the local LEGO store to rack up some VIP points. Had a great convo with some of the employees about it too. They showed me the display model and talked about how fun it was to build, and actually showed me all of the differences when I said I thought it was the same as the last model from 2011.

Nice! Compared to customer support at, oh I dunno, say Toys R US this past weekend, my best Force Friday interactions were with the folks at my local Lego Store - happy to help, happy to talk Lego, etc... Lego certainly knows what it's doing when it comes to customer service IMHO.

The Grievous figure is AMAZING. I am holding off on getting more of these constructable figures because I'm thinking there may be promos between now and the movie coming out and I'm going to want to have Star Wars sets I need to still pick up - but I can't wait to see if Darth Vader is as good as the Grievous one.

Out of the mini-fig scale stuff, I've completed Kylo Ren's transport, the First Order Troop Transport, the First Order Snow Speeder and Rey's Speeder. Not disappointed in any of the sets so far, fun builds, unique/different designs from what we've gotten before in the Star Wars line, which is always welcome. I've put off the TIE, X-Wing and Falcon for last, gonna spread out when I put them together - but I think the X-Wing will be next...  ;D

Awesome! Good to know, it was the one constructible figure I bought on Friday!

Friday morning I was at my local Walmart and Target stores when they opened, neither was open at midnight.

Modest selection at both stores, but I wasn't blown away by quantities or anything.

I was shocked at how much extra "junk" is filling the Seasonal Section display at Target - and now even two days later all that stuff is STILL sitting there (no surprise really)

At Walmart, I grabbed:
1x Kylo Ren Armor-up
1x Finn Armor-up
1x Boba Fett Armor-up
1x Luke Armor-up
1x Kylo Ren Build-a-Weapon
1x Resistance Fighter
1x Rey Build-a-Weapon
2x First Order TIE Pilot

And then at Target I grabbed:
2x Poe Dameron's X-Wing
1x Finn's Desert Speeder
1x Kylo Ren (BAW)
1x Bespin Luke
1x Darth Vader
1x Finn Armor-up

On Saturday, I swung by Kmart, I had gotten an email that I had $3 in Shop Your Way rewards points if I spent $20 in toys, found:
1x First Order TIE Pilot
1x First Order Stormtrooper Armor-up

So I'm done with all of the Wave 1 figures and smaller vehicles. still need to get the Falcon (obviously). I keep hoping it will show up on Target.com so I can use the coupon towards it.

I went ahead and ordered cases of the 2-pack figures from EE just to get them out of the way - they indicate they're getting them this month so the wait shouldn't be too long.

Gotta find the WM Black Series wave 1 figures now and I'll be all set until the Wave 2 stuff starts hitting.

Wouldn't be surprised if a repaint of the First Order Speeder Bike was on the way as well.

I preordered two of these since the repaint looks okay and it nets me a variant trooper...  :-\

The Force Awakens / Re: TFA 3.75" First Order Legion 7-Pack Box Set
« on: September 6, 2015, 12:17 PM »
I'm a sucker. Had to pre-order.

Yeah, me too, preordered two of them. Like the design of the riot control First Order Stormtrooper.

Kinda wish Phasma wasn't in the box set, but oh well...

Do I need to make park runs for these?

This set includes 4 build-a-droid astromechs: R0-4LO, R2-Q2,  R4-M9 and R5-X3 all of which are said to be from The Force Awakens.

Any word on whether you can order this online? If not then yes please!  ;D

On the one I opened, the wings are pretty good. I had a hard time trying to squeeze the pack-in pilot into the two seater cockpit, so I tried the carded version of the pilot and that fit very well, so now I just have two of that version in the cockpit and the removeable helmet version standing next to the vehicle.

A lame compromise but at least there is A version of the First Order TIE Pilot that does fit.

The Force Awakens / Re: TFA Poe's X-Wing Fighter with Poe Dameron

Not that this is ideal, but I put the single carded Pilot Poe Dameron figure into the vehicle and I've left he removeable helmet version standing next to the ship. The single carded version of Poe in his flight suit fits extremely well into the vehicle.

I was able to get the following at the TRU I went to: (all Hasbro)
1x of the 5POA Wave 1 12 figures
1x 7 out of 8 Armor figures (somehow I missed the Finn one)
2x 3.75" TIE
2x Rey's Speeder
1x First Order Speeder Bike
2x First Order Scout Walker
1x Kanan's Scout Bomber
1x Finn's Desert Speeder
1x First Order Snow Speeder

Then I went to a 24-hour WalMart and got:
2x Captain Phasma 3.75"
1x Resistance Fighter
2x Poe 3.75"
1x First Order Stormtrooper
2x Constable ??
2x Finn 3.75"
1x Rey 3.75"
1x Bespin Luke
1x Darth Vader
2x Flametrooper 3.75"
2x Flametrooper Armor Up figure
1x Stormtrooper Armor Up Figure
1x Chewie Armor Up Figure
1x Poe Armor Up figure
1x Kanan's Scout Bomber
1x First Order Speeder Bike

No Millennium Falcon at all anywhere, no Poe X-Wings anywhere.

Toys R Us was going to restrict me to 3 figures TOTAL - when they put up the sign, I asked the person what it meant - 3 figures or 3 of each figure - I was told the later, I had to argue with the manager that if I had been told 3 figures total, I would have gone elsewhere - and I probably would have been better for it if I had just gone to the 24hr WalMart. Eventually after 5 minutes of arguing back and forth, I put my 2nd set of 5POA figures back and said, meet me half way, allow me to purchase a complete set of 12 and he did - I then proceeded to dole out those other 12 figures to whoever wanted them in line behind me at the register.

What a total cluster **** this was, clearly they did not get enough product to go around. Gonna go back out for openings of WalMarts and Targets that did not have stuff at midnight - hoping my luck will be better there...

Picked up the 6" Kylo Ren and First Order Stormtroopers this morning at a Kmart near where I work. I also snagged a 2nd 6" Kylo Ren for a friend at work.

I don't collect 6" but these two figures are pretty cool - I'll probably just display them on my desk at work. If they ever release a Captain Phasma I'll probably grab her and then call it quits there, the last thing I want to do at this point is try to play catch-up with the 6" line...  :P

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: Black Series Rumors

Also, a rumored SA line list at another site included a few characters that would likely mostly reuse existing tooling.

Just out of curiosity what characters were on the list and what store is supposed to have the exclusive line?

I have been pondering the same question as you McMetal.

I'm leaning towards starting at Toys R Us, getting in-and-out as quickly as possible and then heading over to Target after that.

I agree with the general sentiments here as well.

The only take-away that I thought was interesting was the fact that the Boyfriend/Step-dad character (sorry, I don't remember anyone's names) showed some serious balls by going into that church by himself. Yeah, part of it was probably just "blind courage" but minimally, it could have been a drug addict on a really bad trip, violently lashing out - either way (walker or dude high on bath salts) - he still was willing to put himself into harms way for the sake of his family.

Kind of gives insight that he's a resourceful, survivor type, so that way when it comes to the end of the six weeks and he's still alive we're not left thinking "how the hell did the high school teacher survive?!?!"

And for anyone not liking the drug-addict son of the female lead - I'm pretty sure I caught a shot of him with a bite on his foot in the coming attractions, so his days are probably numbered. Would make sense, even if they wanted the show to be about a "family unit" and how they survive a zombie apocalypse, that unit could simply be the two leads, the female lead's daughter and the male lead's son from his previous marriage.
