Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Official Television Thread

I wanted to watch Siberia and did see the first episode, but I have too much going on on Monday nights.  I think I'll wait till it comes out on DVD and watch it.

I had to go look up the Flamingo.  That's ridiculous.  I love it.

I don't know why I posted package 6 earlier, package 11 gets all the cool stuff and then add on the Eagle.

Why does all the cool stuff cost money I don't have?

Picked up 9473 Mines of Moria at Target last night for 50% off.

Thursday is the normal markdown day for clearance items at my store so I actually stopped in yesterday morning on the way to work and scanned that set, it was still about 30% off.  Got out of work and it was 50%.  I also missed out on one of the larger Galaxy Squad sets I'd been waiting on for 50% off.  They had 3 or 4 yesterday morning, gone when I got there in the PM.

Lego does not sit around on clearance prices.

I'm happy to have the announcement of Celebration this early, but I think selling tickets is odd.  I can plan things pretty far in advance but paying out $150-ish (just a guess) for a 4-day pass to a convention 2 years away?  Doesn't seem like a good idea.

Well, I guess it's a good idea to offer them, but maybe not a good idea for everyone to actually start buying.

I was reading some speculation that since the Anaheim Convention Center is smaller than the OCC, there's more potential for this show to actually sell out.  With the hype of the new movie I guess that's possible.

It's not that big, no, and it's centered around comics and not as much movies and TV like Wizard World has become.

I don't know if you can get a previous year's attendance numbers off their site, I didn't look.  But I know that Joe says it's easy to get in and very easy to approach the artists and creators...not as hectic as the larger shows.

Didn't see a thread for this.

I'm going this year for the first time and was wondering if anyone else would be there?  Joe Kersavage, couple you guys probably know him, has been going for the last couple of years and loves it.

I know it's a little early yet, but anyone going to NYCC this year?

Press passes already approved.  I'll be there Saturday and Sunday.

I finally just looked at this kickstarter.  That's actually some excellent work they have going on.

I'm thinking about pledging so that I can order the Screaming Eagle.  Maybe package 6.

Hmmmm....

I was in TRU on Saturday and completely forgot to look for the Pacific Rim toys! Argh!  Good chance they wouldn't have had them anyway, but I just saw this thread and now I'm pissed at myself.

I wouldn't mind having a Gipsy Danger figure, I like the design.

The Bullpen / Re: Thor: The Toys!

I still see a lot of Thor and IM figures at Five Below and Ollie's around here.  They may have a smaller line but I can't see them not overshipping it and dooming any future waves.

We'll see...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: X-Men/Wolverine Movies
« on: July 29, 2013, 06:27 PM »
I didn't love it or hate it.  I thought it was good but didn't completely live up to the potential that was there.  I thought Logan dealing with Jean's death was better done than Tony Stark's anxiety attacks in IM3 and thought it did some good things for his character.

I liked most of the fights and action but there were a few times where I didn't feel like the director let the actors and choreography work, too many quick cuts that distracted more than anything.

The scene during the credits blew me away!  I can not wait for the next X-Men movie after that.  I would recommend going to see it.  If you like Jackman as Wolverine I think you'll really love this movie.  I felt like there was more for Jackman to do with the character this time around, it wasn't all berserker rage.

I did write a review if anyone is interested: The Wolverine

I think they're doing an 18" Gipsy Danger.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Official Movie Thread
« on: July 15, 2013, 07:40 PM »
I saw it last night and really liked it.  I agree that Hunnam didn't show much range but I wasn't really there for the pilots, I was there for the gigantic mechs and monsters.

I disagree on Charlie Day and Ron Perlman, this builds on a lot of the Japanese Anime and Godzilla type movies and those always have that one character that's annoying but thrown in for humor...that was Day and Perlman (to a lesser extent).

I would have liked to have seen more of the other pilots also, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me.

Rumors starting to kick around today have Star Wars VII coming May 29, 2015.  I'll believe it when we hear there's actually a script.
