Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Star Trek
« on: May 23, 2013, 09:56 AM »
My wife and I saw it last night.  We both enjoyed it and my wife is not a big sci-fi fan.  She thought it was a good plot with the right balance between humor and action.  She was disappointed that McCoy didn't get more screentime though.

I think the hardest thing was (and is) disconnecting my ideas of what certain characters are or look like and not try to compare them to those in TOS.

Thanks!  Maybe I can actually get them on display by the next time you roll around for a visit...

Do you have an idea for displaying them?  Pair them up with their larger GG mates?

Then you should have some chase books, too.

Monday was like the Pittsburgh series all over again.  The refs may have been a bit biased, but you still have to score.

Really?  I thought the refs let them play.  I believe there was what 3 or 4 penalties called and there should have been tons more.  There was a missed elbow call, a few hookings, slashing, roughings, etc.  I just think the refs didn't want to influence the outcome of the game.

But you're right.  Teams have to score.  When both teams have some of their top scorers not making goals, it takes a lot for the others to step up.  There were some great (hell, awesome) scoring chances on both sides that Lundqvist and Holtby stopped.  Those two really made the series (even if Holtby let 5 by in game 7).

Actually in game 2, the refs missed quite a few obvious penalties against the Caps, especially the delay of game which they ended up calling against the Rangers which let the Caps even the score.

Ovi maybe called it right, but maybe the Caps were committing more penalties, too... just sayin'  ;)

I've met people reading the books and it's hard to not say anything because they ask questions and I'm excited to share my insights because someone else is into it.  But I guess there are some minor characters that are made up for the show (or one is a combination of a few) so sometimes when I watch I get a bit confused.  But hell, I missed some of the under-layers while reading the books, unlike others here.

Rangers handled the Caps pretty darn well. 5-0.   Ovechkin held to 1 goal in the whole series.  I think the Caps were all about getting hits than shots on goals last night.  And the refs just let them play.

Thanks for the info, Jeff.

I didn't see the scale listed for the stormies... are they 3.75" too?

BTW, thought this was pretty funny too last night.  Not sure that any of you non-Chicagoans caught this in real time, but thankfully Yahoo! picked it up:

And she got fired for it.  Seriously?
