The Vintage Collection / Re: Celebration VI

They also reiterate several times that the Vintage Collection was/is the worst selling action figure line of all of theirs so far, and that CW and Movie Heroes both outsell it.

I read that, too.  Good article.

I'm surprised by that answer and that distribution stunk for all lines, but then again, I only collect Vintage.  But from what others have complained, Movie Heroes would have the same character (maybe not same sculpt) on the pegs at the same time as Vintage, and with Vintage being $1 or so more than MH, obviously mom and pop are going to go for the cheaper version.  But there was some quality control issues with some Vintage army builders and that hurt figure sales.  I don't know.  Maybe SW figures aren't that popular as I think they are but?  Maybe since I'm on here with a group, it feels that they are more than I think they are?

Hammerhead?  Well, the Hammerhead I want most is the vintage cantina 3-pack with Greedo and Walrusman.

Just when you thought you couldn't stand seeing another ******* Sandtrooper, you get one here.

I guess Hasbro figures cross-overs work (ala Avengers movie), so why not Sandtroopers in multiple lines?

Didn't Hasbro say they weren't even going to be at celebration, of was that somewhere else like NYCC?

Per Jesse, it sounds like they've got a small presence with some Q&As with individual fan sites and NYCC is an unconfirmed no-go.

A questioned I'd like answered is if the correct red headband Kithaba will be making more of an appearance on pegs (or online... and if it's online would they differentiate between brown and red versions).  I know I'm smoking crack, but is it too much to ask from Hasbro?

BTW, $39.99, which I reported on our front page...  DarthChuckMC reported on twitter these were $45 down in Orlando I believe, and that hopefully was just down there...  Is TRU allowed to scalp?  ???

Maybe Orlando got a ton of these just to get those Celebration attenders to buy them for $5 more?  But I think TRU doesn't have a general one price tag for each store.  The Times Square TRU had figures at $12 ($1-2 more than in Minnesota) for the longest time.  They have dropped to $9.99 and had remnants of the Tarkin wave on the pegs.

I wonder if they'll be at NYCC?

That is awesome.  That gives me some ideas on how to display some of my collection.

Yeah, I had originally save the link under favorites a couple days ago when I missed out and then the next day they weren't on the link, but they were listed in the recently viewed so I got on there and save the actually Ewok and Yavin product links in case they popped up again.  The same thing happened when the Deleted Scene figures came out.  They disappeared from the link and I couldn't find them again.

Bump to the new page!  ;D

Now if only Kmart could get all of their exclusives on their webpage, that'd be excellent!

Times Square getting old for you ?   ;)

I'd avoid it like the plague.  But I did see Snoop Dogg hangin' out there.

Back in stock at tru.com.  I ordered these.  I figure it's one less place for me to check for exclusives.

I'm hoping my source comes through this week with a purple R3.  That's the only one I care about at the moment.  If not, then no biggie.

But that is totally cool, Pete.  99% done!  Congrats.  I hope you local collector can help you finish it off!

Hasbro really thought this was going to 1999 2.0; I'm for one glad sales showed them that it wasn't and hopefully they'll start listening to all consumers and not just a specific targeted demographic.

Yeah, I agree with this, too.  I'm more of an OT person, so if they would have had 12 new A New Hope figures (or even 9 new figures with Han and Luke Stormtrooper and Obi-Wan), I think the response would have been more favorable (at least in my opinion).

I think the plus of the wave (from the collector's stand-point) was we got 10 new figures, plus Obi and Qui-Gon).  I was excited about the 9 of the figures and got them.  I think the problem was they were over-produced and then there were a lot of carry-overs into the next few waves which clogged the pegs (indefinitely?).  Instead of carrying over more TPM figures, they should have stuck in Wedge, Gammie, RFTs, and other cool, but HTF figures from last year.
