Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Jodo Kast work in progress

Was Jodo's armor really chipped up? The ref pic I'm using just has a few dings here and there...

I still haven't found a decent pic of his jetpack.

This thread isn't about customs, is it? It's about "Oh look at me, I have a ROTS Clone Cup and you don't!" :-p

I dig Bok and the Gamorean. :) Bok could use a bit of weathering and the Gamorean could use some black under the eyes. :)

Kevin

Kev--

I was actually just trying to put something in the background that was more a more interesting backdrop than my curtains or my sleeping cat.  ;) If you want though, I'm happy to pass a clone cup along to you if I find some more. (Which I probably will...)

Yeah, I agree with your suggestions on Bok and the Gammorean. It shall be done!

Here's some more customs I dug out. These were figures I did early in my customizing hobby, as you can tell by their simplicity.  :D

While playing KOTOR, there were some palette swapped Gammoreans that were stronger than the regular Gammoreans. Here's my version of one... a very simple repaint with a little dry-brushing.

An Ishi Tib henchman from Jabba's Palace. This is based off of a CCG card my friend had.

A Mon Calamari senator. All those Lott Dodd's warming the pegs are good for something, at least.

And finally, Bok, a Morgukai Assassin from Dark Horse's REPUBLIC series.

Photonovels and Movies / Re: AGGRESSIVE NEGOTIATIONS

Gaah! I've gotta see the new villain! Don't make us wait!   :D

Chewie: I'd like to see Ventress and Durge. Durge I'd like to see in battle, but Ventress...maybe just a cameo over a communication or something. Kind of like in the novel where Anakin was teamed with Neeja Halcyon. (The name escapes me right now.)

I would like to see you get your hands on a few of Ricky UK's Republic Commandos, and have Rykrof give them an objective that supports a mission he and his Clone platoon are involved in. I don't want them to be an established unit, though...but one you make up and design the armor markings for.

And let's see Quinlan Vos, even if it's just a cameo at the Jedi Temple.

Star Wars Action Figures / Jodo Kast work in progress
« on: April 5, 2005, 06:14 PM »
Here's one I could use some help from the experts on.

I'm making a Jodo Kast out of one of the VOTC Fett's I bought...but the reference pics I've found are limited. Here's the figure so far; basically just a repaint with a belt from the 300th Edition Fett.

Any suggestions on this one would be appreciated. What can I add to this figure to make him more authentic?

I need to go hunting for fodder this weekend; if you don't find any and I come across a few, I'll let you know.

That Kit Fisto is great fodder. I plan on making some ole Republic Jedi's out of that one. The Ki Adi Mundi is surprisingly cool as well. I love the soft goods they added, it makes the figure underneath more versatile for customs.

I already made an improvement to my Agen Kolar; I cut the skirt on either side, allowing his legs to actually be useful. Now you can get him in some great (SPOILER ALERT) "cut down by Palpatine" poses.  ;)

Feh. Who can say how many different HK models were designed throughout the Old Republic?  ;D Besides, a Chopper Droid head would look pretty cool.

Besides, that Overtkill body lends itself to a ton of different droid designs. I'll probably "steal" your finished design for one of my own as well!

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. It really gets me inspired to make more.

Famine- Good guess on the Trandoshan chest piece, but actually, the torso and the upper arms came from a generic "Ninja Force" figure that can be found at Big Lots and other discount stores. He was supposed to be wearing chain mail, but it makes a darn good scaly torso as well. I need to get a few more for some other customs, as well as a Darth Bane I want to do. If I find any more I'll pick up a bunch and send them to whoever's interested.

Those generic Ninja figs run about a buck apiece.

Just completed my first ROTS custom figure - and I think I did a good job.

It's Obi Wan w/ robes... will get pics up soon.

 :P

Awesome! Can't wait to see it!

As for me, I'm stumped as to what to do next. Hmm. Any suggestions on the HK figure?

Famine: When it comes to washes, I usually use a darker color and water it down quite a bit, so it's very thin in it's consistancy. Then you brush it on and it will just run into the details for you. Chewie is quite accomplished at dry-brushing and washes, he may be able to offer some further advice.

Chewie: Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. What did you think of the Trandoshan I tried to mimic your painting style on?  :)

You sure are brave with customizing those wookies. I hope I find some on clearance. I only have 4. Maybe tommorow I'll take a risk and work on one. I'm worried about messing up the face. Any advice?

Very neat Max Veers custom too. I love Imperial Officers.

Kevin

If you've got a steady hand, painting the wooks is pretty simple, you only really need to be careful around the face. I use a small brush for around the eyes, nose and mouth, then slap the base color on with a bigger brush. After it dries, I use a medium size brush to dry brush the fur highlights on, then give the whole thing a slightly darker wash to get into the fur details.

Check out some of Chewie's wookiees to see how it's REALLY done.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Let me respond to a few...

Famine: Well, whatever Ricky does to his clones with that pen, I sure as heck couldn't recreate it! But since I plan on making a Jabiim set at some point (with all the Jedi from the Padawan pack that fought to the last there) I'm probably going to need to dirty up some more clones. Glad you liked it!

CHEWIE: Good eye! Oddly enough, the Nikto Jedi uses the lower half of the Rodian from the three pack, and the upper half from the Twi'lek. The other two halves were joined to other customs!

I agree on the Wolfman. He will get a wash to bring out the fur detail this week.

Glad you liked K'kruhk...would you believe he was my first custom? The hair came out as well as I could have expected. He remains a favorite of mine to this day. Eventually I'll take another picture of him that shows the sculpting I did on his feet.

It's settled...the Ithorian Jedi comes back into the shop for some detailing. That is indeed a Darth Maul skirt! Again, good eye!

Well, since I've got the fever for posting...here's a few more. After this one, I'm calling it a night!  ;)

Daakman Barack, from the Clone Wars cartoon. I took some creative license here since you only really see him in a hologram, right before Grievous carves him up like a Christmas Turkey.

[image][image]

Sith Lord Chaos wanted a look at the Black Wookiee. Here ya go! He seems mad about something in this pic.  :)

[image][image]

General Maximillian Veers. This was a 10 minute custom I did just to show someone on RS how easily it could be done. He needs some touch up and some correction on the rank badge. And my unfinished Jolee Bindo is boring another custom with one of his long stories in the background.  ;D

[image][image]

My own version of Badoo Bok. Any visitor to thecustomalliance.com ends up doing their own interpretation of Badoo Bok.

[image] [image]

And finally, it's a Wookiee uprising! A lot of these wooks are still in various stages of completion. One of my faves is the second to the far right...it's a Bespin Escape Chewie that I sanded the ammo belt off of, resculpted the fur, then decided it wasn't articulated enough so I gave him Kung-Fu battle grip and articulated knees.

[image][image]

Thank you, and good night!  ;)

Since I was going to attempt the game version first, I was going to use some regular protocol droid legs and maybe attempt to articulate the knees.

Here's what I'm thinking so far:

Head: Overkill + epoxy and my mediocre sculpting talents.  ;)

Chest: Grievous' guard.

Arms: Grievous' guard + some glued on parts.

Crotch: Overkill.

Legs: 4-LOM.

Let the cannibalizing begin!  ;D
