Hey Hasbro! / More Playsets Hasbro!
« on: May 18, 2005, 11:46 AM »
I've made this suggestion on another site, but wanted to see what you guys thought.

I think build your own "modular" playsets would be very cool and could do well. Think about it, two or three different imperial set packs, each containing various wall, floor/ceiling and support beam pieces that are designed to fit to geather in infinate combonations. In each pack, they can feature a different set piece like control consels, stair cases, elevator shafts, etc.

This can be done for Bespin city, Tanive IV, Hoth...

Hey Hasbro! / Re: hey hasbro how about some imperial commanders

There's no such thing as to many imperials. I would love more officers or any kind of imperial.

An AT-TE would be too big and expensive for me to own. Yet, I'd still buy one, so please make one!

Hey Hasbro! / Re: STOP with Convention Exclusives!
« on: May 18, 2005, 11:28 AM »
Here's another yes vote.

The very nature of an exclusive sets the collector against the scalper. It's inherit conflict tends to hurt the collector the most. In this crummy world where people care about making a couple bucks more than having an item to appreciate, I don't think the human race is mature enough to handel exclusive Star Wars toys.

The TRU and Target sales really seem to be moving product. Does anyone think that the big three are setting themselves up to re-flood the shelves durring the following week? Or will it be the same as usuall?

Still lots of wave one around here, but not so much that it's totally prevented wave 2 from hitting. However, I have yet to come accross a fresh case.

I hope the Target sale will get rid of enough of them to bring on waves 2 and 3 in full force!

Would anyone have even bothered with these if Target had gotten their original request of having the Target Logo on the chest?

That was really a suggestion? The Target logo?  Bahahaha.

I guess it's more of a rumor, but I have either read that or heard that.

Wow, and then Wal-mart could counter with their logo on some separtists. Those would sure be some exciting battles.  ::)

That's funny! :D

Other Collectibles / Re: Attakus Dioramas... 3.75" Scale?

Wow! If these weren't 3 3/4", I'd barely give these a second thought, but they are, so now my tenticals are flapping.

Yeah, cost and space are going to be the big concerns. Unless I buy a bigger house, and Hasbro doesn't release any product for 4 months back to back, I'm going to have to admire someone elses. :-[

Yeah, these are looking pretty nice. They're all done on the VOTC level, so These should be worth it.

I was tempted to repurchase the entire Deluxe line today at Target after realizing they're all on sale for $8.49. Alas, I am too lazy to do that and then come back with my old reciepts.

Thanks Jared! I missed that the deluxe were on sale. I'll have to bring in my recent recipts to get the adjustment.

Yesterday morning I was late seeing a full case actully sitting on the shelves. A hot wheels guys and another Star Wars collector who resells to fund his collection got them all.

I don't need anymore, but it still irks me to think about how imposible it will be for some regular Joes to get these.

Wow! Finally a mature discussion about the problem with the case assortments. I really agree with most of what's been said.

Yeah, Hasbro has an excellent resource to gauge what will sell (the collecting community) and they refuse to use it. But, coupled with the fact that when they do give us something we've been begging for, like the Shuttle, it gets handled poorly and doesn't sell, giving Hasbro further reason to ignore us.

I'm all of the opion of what was said earlier, when it all comes down to it, it's the suits with their Harvard business degrees calling the shots, and they don't necessarily know what's happening in the real world.

I honestly think Star Trek really hurt Sci Fi on Tv as a whole.  The writing for that show has never been all that great...even in the original series.

I respectufully dissagree.

I think just the opposite to a certain extent. When Gene was alive, Star Trek was alway challenging and trying to push the envelope. Sure there were a bunch of stinkers in TOS and TNG, but there were episodes so utterly amazing that they have changed the way I think about life. Once Rodenberry past away, the show went down hill becasue it refused to take risks and the show runners began to have internal conflicts which resulted in all the good ones leaving (i.e Moore and Piller.)

The demise of Star Trek was purely political, the wrong people in charge making the wrong decisions and hiring people based on compatability  rather than talent (basically they hired a lot of Rick MacCallums.) Star Trek could still be going strong if Paramount had not left Berman with so much power.
