Thanks for the nice comments Phruby, Glassman & Richard. i had a lot of fun making this 12" Kenobi and it presented a lot of different challenges that i really hadn't faced in the smaller scale. i'm working on a couple of other 12" Jedi and i have to say that although there is more work involved i do enjoy it a lot. i can't wait to see everyone's completed work for this project.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Gregorbian's Customs - UPDATE 02/13/06

Nice Fett bust Greg! i love the paint job, very realisitic. i may have to look into getting one of these model kits, it would be great for parts for a 12" scale figure. the only nitpick i have is the base you have Fett on is a little larger in diameter than the GG bust bases...other than that it looks like a Fett that could fit right into their line of busts.

btw, are the wookie braids "hair" or are they vinyl? i know the GG Fett bust has real "hair" braids...i was lucky enough to get one a long time ago when they came out before they got super expensive  :o

Chewie, i just don't get enough time to comment on all the wonderful customs you are able to do, but the latest additions you have here are all amazing.

My favorites are the Ithorian Senator & Obi-Wan Episode I.

The senator looks so believable, i swear he had to be in the background somewhere in ROTS. the outfit and the body shape are just what the Ithorians look like, not too bulky or skinny. i really like the colors you chose as well, not too bold or gaudy, but something befitting a senator.

The Ep. I Obi-Wan is stunning. i never liked any of the Hasbro figures much at all, but the quality of this figure is beyond that of the VOTC (minus the soft goods). the head looks amazing and the braid is a great addition. i love the slight weathering to the outfit also.

And the mini-rigs too are really cool looking! its kind of a shame Hasbro doesn't produce anything like that, like Kenner did in the vintage days...something that fits into the SW Universe, but was just off camera.

keep up the wonderful work, i enjoy your updates!

Thanks for the comments Chewie. There are some rusty spots on IG that don't show up in the photos, but i just couldn't get the paint right on him...it was getting too dark and then i just decided to set it aside for now. i'll compare him with his big brother bust and try to get a better paint scheme sometime soon. for some reason, i just had a heckuva time getting him to look "metallic" but dirty at the same time. oh well, its good practice though  ;)

i cut the arms at the seams on the Hasbro body to get the hands out, same thing with the feet. i just can't see any other way to get them out. sure it damages the Hasbro body but i'm not using those so i could care less. i end up cutting the seams on the Dragon arms and legs too and modifying the clone hands and feet to get them to fit in then super glue the arms & legs shut. you can't tell its been done and everything holds together and is still posable. hope this helps.

Thanks for the nice words Greg! as far as how i attached the backpacks on...it kind of depends on which backpack you have. i used the pauldrons and backpacks off the army builder sandies. i dremeled out a place in the stormie bust-ups back so that the tab on the backpack could fit in there, then cut the backpack a little so it would fit flush to his body. its kind of hard to describe, but i got it to work ok with some help from the dremel. :)

i'm gonna leave little Han Stormie the way he is, i kicked around ideas about how to get him to match, but just couldn't get it to look right, so i just settled for that pose. i see from the Toy Fair photos that Gentle Giant is coming out with Luke & Han Stormie now finally but their poses don't match the larger busts so go figure.

i did just manage to finish up 2 more bust-ups over the past few nights. the first is a IG-88. this is a modified Hasbro figure cut in half and split his arms open to put in a piece of thin wire to achieve the proper bends to match his bigger brother. i wasn't able to get a pic of them together, my camera battery was dying so i had to snap these photos in a hurry.

I had a few extra Clone bust-ups that i got in the army builder sets (in hopes of finding a chase Gree which didn't happen) but i did decide to make them a little less boring  ;) So I came up with a Commander Thire. I painted the lines on free hand and this was the first Shocktrooper i had attempted. the lines were a real pain to get right, but i think they turned out decent, not totally perfect, but i'm pretty pleased. i've got a couple more Clone bust-ups i'll probably paint up over the next few weeks, so look for those soon  :)

I just got my entry for the group project complete well ahead of schedule! i know hard to believe...but here is my 12" Obi-Wan in Clone Disguise from Season 1.

I used a Dragon body, attached the hands and feet and put the AOTC Hasbro head on. the armor is a combination of AOTC & ROTS Clone armor, i put together the best of both worlds. the clone helmet is hollowed out, but i can't get it hollowed out enough to fit over Obi-Wan's head, which is a bummer, but i would have to split it open in the back to even hope to clear his nose. the robe is made from a Hasbro jedi robe, modified and re-sewed. the clasps are plastic knobs that i modified with some sculpy. i also repainted the Hasbro head so its not such a pale white, but more of a flesh tone now, and i did some dry brushing to the hair too. i'm pleased with how he turned out over all, and the sewing turned out better than i thought which is very cool. i included the little 3 3/4" Obi-Wan Clone Season 1 that i had made a few months back just for fun & comparison.

Yah, Ripley's is going to be cool. Odds are she will finish it around April.  ;)

i might just surprise ya Phruby and make it on time for a group project  ;D

my husband helped me do the sewing on the robe and i got the face and hair painted so Obi-Wan isn't so pale and ghostly looking. all i have to do is paint the clasps holding the robe tommorrow, i just got those sculpted tonite. i also got the armor sewed onto his body suit too, so i am close to completion honest!  8)

Hemble, your ewok is amazing. the fur "length" works great for that particular character and makes him look completely movie accurate along with the wonderful paint apps. this is a really creative way to have a realistic furry ewok.

the Chewie doesn't seem to work as well, considering how long his fur was in the movies, it kind of looks as if he had a bad hair cut. the paint apps are great on him, i just think a different kind of fur would work much better that had a longer length to it on him.

i just googled for it and the series looks really cool...i totally missed this one. do you know how many books were in the series Fritz?

very interesting fordo custom bjardkerr.  your work looks amazing on the short pistol, the pauldron and the holster and the helmet looks very good too...but the non-animated clone body and the fact that we never see a clone "unmasked" in the clone wars animated series is what kind of ruins it for me. this is not a slam on you or work, please don't take it that way, this is just my opinion. i guess what i am trying to say is i prefer either "real world" or "animated" style and not a mixture.  i know we all have limited budgets and work with what we have and you have done a wonderful job doing just that.

they look cool to me, i am just unfamiliar with the line so its hard for me to see what improvements you have made and thus how to properly comment.

as far as clone-cranking goes, don't get your knickers in a twist over it....its not worth it imho, move on and take a deep breath.  8)

Phruby, that snow bunny Padme of yours is looking great! i love the "fur" and the holster fits her well too. are you going to sculpt her cape too? i can't wait to see it completed.

Ennis - i really like your "real world" padme too, the fur looks super realistic. definitely a wonderful start.

Chewie - an ultimate mace windu sounds very cool - i'm anxious to see what you come up with!

i'm in the sewing stages on my 12" Kenobi in clone armor from season 1. a friend was nice enough to donate a Hammerhead to me so....with any luck i might have a Roron after all :D

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone! Bust-ups are fun and quick to do and the Hasbro parts interchange with them nicely.

full sized prop sabers are one of my "other" collections lol  :P
