JJ, was that referring to Gretzky's wife?  From what I heard, she just made some bets - not like she was some gambling addict.

Everything I've heard from those south of the border is either what my opinions are, or just plain indifference.

Our Canadian media just need something to worry about.  ::)

Black eye for the NHL.

Pete Rose?

Conspiracy theory: rattle Gretzky before the Olympics?

The end of a marriage?

Read the story :P

I don't see the big deal.

So far, no evidence anyone bet on NHL games.  It's not against the CBA to bet on other sports.  Why is it so awful that Janet Jones bet on the Super Bowl when millions of other North Americans did?

The only thing I see here is a possible illegal gambling ring by Tocchet.  I highly doubt Gretzky was involved in that if it's the case, although I suspect he probably knew about it.

Aside from Tocchet making himself look bad as an individual, I see no harm here with the evidence presented to this point.

I'm ba-a-a-a-c-k, and here to forever bash the Ottawa Senators.

I'm a Leafs fan, for those that didn't know it, and myself and Brent have a long history of debating the leafs/Sens rivalry.

Now that I'm done with a certain Canadian SW website, I'm going to have to move the 'discussion' over here.

I'm hoping Toronto and Ottawa meet in the playoffs, so Brent has a chance to win our annual bet.  To do it, his pick will have to reverse 5 straight playoff losses to my team though. :)

Is that a touque or something?  ;D

Yup, that's a toque.

Maybe he came from Canada originally?  ;)

It's a pretty common thing to wear up here.

Sadly, I can't participate in the creepy collector discussion, as SW collecting here has been dying for some time.  :(

I could tell some stories about the POTF2 era though. ;)

I've been in the market for a Transport for ages, but like others have said, finding a mint, complete one is difficult.  They tend to go a little higher than I'm prepared to spend right now.

Watto's Junk Yard / Question For Those Banned at RS
« on: April 12, 2005, 01:56 PM »
Never been banned at any site, so I'm curious about something.

Can you still access and read the forums, and just not participate and read PM's, or are you blocked from the forums entirely?

I'd like to just have the closure of saying a goodbye over there, even if the post would only last a couple of hours.  However, I don't want to leave the Vintage forum, which still has a number of good people, and would still like to at least see trading posts.  I know that my 'seeya' thread would probably have some criticism of Mr. Wise, and I'll probably end up banned for it.

Any help?

Nice collection Ian, somehow I imagined it bigger though ;)

If only I had my 1000 or so carded figures displayed.  That would fix your perspective. ;)

Jesse, I'm in Caledonia, Ontario.

Wassup Herbert?  Welcome.

So far so good here. :)

Kinda weird feeling - I'm new, but know everyone.  Makes for a nice comfy feeling right off the bat. ;)

Well, this has been posted at the two sites I help run, as well as in RS's vintage section, but for any who hadn't seen it, here's my collection.

There's lotsa pics, so I'm just going to link you to my original collection post at thebothanspy.

I have one three-year old boy, and he's great.  Alot of work, but worth every minute of it.

To top it off, he not only loves SW, but can name virtually every major and many minor characters, and has a collection of about 100 figures.  Most of them are vintage, too - including several POTF.  He loves the vinty stuff more than modern, which makes me proud.  He wears a Vader helmet all the time, and the two of us have lightsaber fights all the time too.

I'm actually getting the urge for #2.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who actually exercises, and how?
« on: April 12, 2005, 03:26 AM »
Up until about a month or so ago, I shunned exercise.

My wife has convinced me to take it up.

I now have a gym membership, that I use 3-4 times a week for an hour at a time.

The ol' metabolism doesn't work as well as it used to, and needs some outside help. ;)

BUT, consider the members they're in the process of losing there right now...  Guys like Darth Anton, Ian_C,  Matt_Fury, Sith Lord Chaos, ruiner, Pete_Fett, etc.  In addition to the other top notch guys they've stuck the final nail into the coffin of lately, like Jesse James, Kneel Before Zod, CHEWIE, etc...

When you look at those names listed there, it's a veritable "Who's Who" of most of the better members that were still left over there, so that's got to hurt RS's "quality" somewhat, no matter how you slice it.  If I could've hand picked some of the mature stragglers still left over there, it would've been those guys.

Wow, and here I was thinking that I was suffering from anonymity over there.

I've made a decision about RS.  Despite a few posts there tonight, I'm gonna drop them.  I'll stick around their vintage section, simply because for the most part it's like a different world there.  I'll also keep checking their classifeds section, although that's not really participating as a forum member.  The rest of it, though, can stick it.

May the jedilerious' and matkanadam's rule over there indefinitely.  Wise and them deserve each other.

Anything notable happen in that feedback thread at RS before it got summarily deleted again

Matt Fury posted a goodbye thread, and while some of us expressed our regret, some of the newbies went on the attack about him being childish.  I got into a heated argument with a couple of them.

The feedback thread got out of control too.  I tried to plead with the mods and admins that they were going to lose the better members, keeping only the kids and post-padders, and tried to explain the issue was more about not respecting their membership than the actual email, but Phillip in his wisdom, deleted all of it.

Oh well, that's in the past, and new horizons are to be looked at here. :)

Thanks guys.

Now that Phillip has deleted all 'discussion' of the crap over there, I think I'm going to be there less and here more for sure!

And best of all, from what I see so far, no kids!

That's the most annoying thing I hate about online forums.  Looking forward to having mature conversations again. ;)
