No, it's cool...I wasn't complaining.  Just seemed weird to me at first, but you guys are a bunch of lunatics anyway.  (I mean that in the most endearing way, of course.   :P)

I'll definitely give it a shot.  Looking forward to it.

Yahoo.com is where we input our teams and have our stats done, but we draft right here in this thread.  See our NFL or hockey threads for examples.  So we may post pick by pick in this thread for 2 weeks and complete our draft that way, then the commish will enter the teams into yahoo.com

Gah...seriously?  Seems to me that would be a tedious and painstaking process, as well as error-prone.  Why not do a live draft through Yahoo?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: NEW TIE Fighter
« on: September 10, 2005, 12:04 AM »
I don't even collect newer SW stuff anymore (just vintage for me), but I was so stoked to see Hasbro was finally making a TIE with the correct scaled wings.  I visited a Target in the KC area yesterday, and the nice fella in toys made a trip to the stockroom to pull some out.  To me it's well worth the $40.  The only gripe I have is that the wing supports are a bit loose, and because of this it doesn't stand 100% straight up unless you work to get it just right.  Very minor detail though.  Packing in the Saga Pilot instead of the POTF2 Pilot would have been nice, but again I find that to be a very minor detail as I never saw anything wrong with the POTF2 version anyway.

Kudos to Hasbro for a job well done.  I might even have to get one of the larger-scale X-Wings to go with it.  (Anyone got a cheap one they want to sell me?)   :P

I forgot to ask, but where you guys do the fantasy leagues?  Yahoo?  Elsewhere?

I know Chris Elliott from RS is in.  I invited two other people as well, and I'll follow up with them today.

Let me send out a message today and get a head count.  I'm guessing I could get 3-5?

I'm in, and I'd prefer rotisserie as well.  I'll head the thing up if I have to, but let's make that a last resort.  :)

20 years without postseason play, a 19-game losing streak, blunder after blunder after blunder, horrible decisions on the part of upper management year after year...and yet I remain a Royals fan.

But something happened today for the first time ever.  I actually considered giving up on the team permanently.  Just when I think they've done everything they can to lose...they find new ways.  They make it harder and harder to be a Royals fan.

I'm *this* close to saying "**** 'em".  :(

Lists like these hold about as much value as Oscars, which to me are worthless, because it's all politics and favoritism. As for my statement, it's an opinion of course, but I'm definately not alone.

Dare I say that I actually agree with you?  :)  I don't recall ever seeing a list like this that I didn't find to be a complete crock of ****, whether it be movies, music, or otherwise, and whether it be a "best of" or "worst of" list.  The entities that concoct lists like these will praise the movies that are popular to praise and bash the movies that are popular to bash.  Personally, I find them all useless and find it much more reliable to formulate my own opinions than to listen to these nitwits.

As far as the subject matter (movies), I'm the farthest thing from an expert so I couldn't even say how "accurate" I think this list is.  I've only seen 17 of them.   :-[

I traded Carpenter not too long ago because my team needed some power and I *knew* he'd cool down.  Oops.  :)

Cool topic.  I only followed hoops and baseball.

Basketball - Dale Ellis (sweet jumper)
Baseball - Tom Seaver (even though I wasn't a pitcher :)) and George Brett (long-time KC fan, and George was smooth as silk)

Well, count me in with the JD league this year.  :)  I'll bother some friends that played in mine last year and get them to join here.  We should have healthy competition this year.

Hey everyone.  Sorry if this has already been covered, but I didn’t see it anywhere.

For the last two years I’ve set up a fantasy NBA league through Yahoo for Rebelscum members.  There hasn’t been a big interest in it – we only had 7 people last year – but thought I’d try over here since there seem to be a lot of fantasy players.  I could probably get a few people from last year and thought I’d check to see if anyone here was interested.

I don’t know how you guys run your leagues here at JD, but we usually do a $15-20 fee to get in, then the winner (or 1st and 2nd place) get a prize (cash or SW stuff).  The fee/prize thing isn’t necessary, but it makes it nice to have something to play for.  :)

Anyway, speak up if you’re interested.  I’d love to do another league, but with only 7 teams it was kind of blah.  :)

This keeps up and the Vintage community may not have a choice but to relocate...

I can only hope.  :)

If it wasn't for the vintage section (vintage is all I collect) I'd have no reason to go there.  It is by far the best vintage forum out there in terms of knowledge base and traffic.  I loathe Phil Wise and would rather not support any site of his, but considering vintage is my only interest I still visit for that sole reason.  I won't touch Wuher's Cantina for many reasons (and members) that I won't get into at the moment.
