We're hitting mid-70's during the day all this week, one week removed from hitting below freezing for 3 days straight. That's Texas, man.

Dang right!! Woohoo!!!  70's all week and into next week.  Where are you in Texas?

GnR at the Super Bowl?

It's being reported there are rumors swirling around about this.  Axl has said no on his twitter account from some stuff I've read, but maybe this will come to fruition.  Maybe they would be good, maybe not.  But it would be nice to see them together.

Those of us in the Dallas/Ft Worth area got "hammered" here last night...at least by our usual snow standards.  I've got about 6 inches or so looking over the backyard and alley right now.  Sucks because roads will suck ass and I need to get my daughter to the doctor.

That weatherman is an idiot.  He's obviously never seen or heard or experienced a west Texas thunderstorm.

I believe I read March for Disney World.  I just hope it's by July as my wife and I are thinking of heading there this summer.

I can't even imagine that much snow.  The only time I've seen that much was when I went skiing about 20 years ago.

We're not too far away then here in the Dallas area.

For north Texas, this is pretty miserable temperature wise.  I think the forecast said we won't be seeing above freezing temperatures until Friday.

Matt, where are you?  We're looking at something "similar" in about 12 hours as well.  Of course, the forecast is 1-3 inches of snow, lots of ice and sleet, and the idiots on the road who don't know what they are doing but think they do.

Thought I'd bump this up.

I went to see Ozzy with Slash opening.

Slash was pretty good but it took a couple of songs for him personally to get going.  His singer for this tour is Myles Kennedy.  He did great with the vocals, but not so much on showmanship.  I'd give the overall performance a B or a B-.  I really expected a lot more, but I guess a lead guitarist can only do so much.  People got pretty fired up about the old GnR stuff, but not very much for his new stuff and he only played one VR song.  As I was watching the GnR stuff get played and people got going, it made me wonder what it must have been like with the old band and Axl on lead.  I bet places they played went nuts.

Ozzy was freakin' awesome.  He came out, got everyone fired up and sang his ass off.  The old fat man did a great job.  He had a foam cannon that he kept blasting himself and those up front with.  His band was incredible and he fed off them and the crowd fed off him.  His performance was a very solid A in my opinion.

Packer would be hilarious if they'd bring him back on.  He's just as much an f up as Michael and would make the show just as uncomfortable.

Well I'm ahead and pretty close to finishing my research for a master's paper I'm working on.  So I'm taking a little time when it's available to read George W Bush's "Decision Points."  I'm only a chapter in, but a really good and interesting read so far.

I just got back from seeing this in 3D.  I thought it was really, really good.  I appreciated the throwbacks to the original, but the buddy I went with thought it was good all on it's own and he had no problem understanding anything even though he hadn't seen the original.

All in all, a good movie and I was glad I spent the cash to see it.

I should be getting that for Christmas, but I probably won't have time to start reading it until February when my current class winds down.  I've got a stack of books that are calling my name but have no time to get to them.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who Wants to Lose Weight?
« on: November 27, 2010, 02:56 PM »
I'm not really worried about losing weight.  I've been between 205-215 for about 8 years and I'm pretty happy with it.  I wouldn't mind getting my weight down to 195 or so though.  However, I'm a lifter and have been going on 14 years now, so for the most part the weight is fine with me provided it's good weight.  I got up to a very chunky 220 or so when I was in college and got tired of feeling lazy and not feeling good about myself.  So I had a change in my eating habits.

I'll be happy to offer advice to people who might want it.  I'll offer words of wisdom I've gained over the years in the gym and watching others struggle with weight if anyone wants it.  I would never, ever suggest any kind of fad diet at all.  Once you are "off" of it, people usually go back to the way they used to be.  Think of weight loss as a change in lifestyle.  My biggest suggestion is to eat in moderation.  Don't go overboard and from time to time enjoy the "good stuff."  It won't kill you.  However, be mindful of what you are putting in.  If you are person who eats fast food and that's just the way it is, let me help you with some common sense stuff.  Have your meal dry or with mustard.  Cut the mayo, cut the cheese, and any other dressings that are offered.   Get grilled food whenever possible, especially chicken.  If you have to have fries, go small, or try to substitute fruit or something else.  Or just go with the entree and skip the sides completely.  Drink water when possible.  If you don't like the non-taste of water, then get some kind of powder you can pour into your water and flavor it.

I try to stick with this kind of common sense plan.  I do fall of the wagon from time to time though.  However, I make up for some of it because I run anywhere from 10-20 miles a week and lift moderate to heavy weights 3-5 times a week.

Common sense, moderation, motivation, and will power are your best friends in the weight loss battle.
