Saga '02-'04 / Re:Question on Variation Number for Saga Figs
« on: February 21, 2003, 11:22 AM »
The best variant guide I've seen so far is from Lee's Toy Review magazine. They had an insert guide on AOTC a while back and they covered most of them and with photos. Those they did not have in there, I sent them pictures of and I hope they update it in the future.

Hasbro and/or Star Wars.com (Lucasfilms) won't even acknowledge variants or errors other than what I read early on from Hasbro in a Toy Fare. They did not exactly say the variants were important, they basically explained why they had chosen to make the changes they did.

I still think the catalogue of these variants and/or known erros should come from the source. I'm sure they could do it, it's just motivating the powers that be to do it.

I agree. It also makes defining what you have easier to do. While it isn't too hard to tell the difference between a bearded Endor Rebel Soldier and a clean shaven one, it gets a little more fuzzy when we are dealing with the Imperial Officer or Rebel Trooper head sculpts. I also think Hasbro should be more specific about the variants they have released instead of abandoning them like a bad step child. They basically have never released a comprehensive guide to all of their known variants and left that to the collectors. Well we all know collectors (because we are them)... We try and find any possible difference and declare it an error. The misinformation on  a lot of ebay auctions is really bad. People get suckered. Hasbro owes it to us to give us a checklist that spans the history of all Star Wars releases (Kenner years too since they took it over). This is my take, maybe we should start a petition to motivate Hasbro to catalogue everything for us serious collectors. It's the least they could do. Maybe they will when the entire Saga has been told and there ar no more figures to produce, or not enough demand. Let's hope that is a long, long time from now!

Vintage Kenner / Re:Does a new focus find you or do you find them??
« on: February 20, 2003, 11:51 AM »
I am a Chewbacca collector. All things Chewbacca are considered. I have mostly modern carded (back to red card potf2) and some loose vintage stuff. He's just always been the favorite. His loyalty, his courage and that a character with a non-speaking role (language we understand) can be so dramatic and powerful without words. Plus, he just has great figures... Ever since 'A New Hope' he's just been my favorite.

The serial number no longer exists. I guess Hasbro is tired of trying to keep track of all the current variants we're seeing. The only way to tell the difference between figure versions is by the differences in the figure or card or even bubble, tape and/or wire. The PN numbering system seems a bit strange too. They list one on the bottom of the bubble and one on the back of the card. Both of these numbers are different but on the same figure and they are this way on every variant (i.e. I compared my Bloody Luke, metal peg Luke & fleshy peg Luke and my Luminara with 'removable cloak' text, with 'removable' covered, with both covered and the reprinted insert with it deleted). For someone who composes checklists, this is definitely a bummer. But, it's the way it is. If I find anything further, I'll let everyone know.

Feedback / Makillops's feedback
« on: February 19, 2003, 12:49 AM »
My experience with Makillops was equally positive and pleasant. He is an honorable trader, good with communication and delivers exactly what he says and in the condition he promises. I recommend trading with him to anyone and hope to have future experiences with him. Thanks Criag and I'll be in touch!

As far as I know, Hasbro has basically deleted the serial number as a way to distinguish a change or variant. No idea why, especially with the amount of variants in the AOTC/Saga line so far. Maybe they just decided to cut it out of the production process. It probably costs quite a bit to print new cards for a serial number change and didn't make sense. Stickering them would create some 'fakes' and they do not want that at all. I've been told that Hasbro does not acknowledge or document the variants and/or changes for public knowledge, so there's no telling and would be difficult to find out. They obviously either have a lot of mistakes and/or do not think things through and/or are consciously creating all these to pump up sales and create a demand for buying more than 1 of a specific figure (outside of army building figs). I'll do some research on it and respond with what I find soon.

Titanium Series, Action Fleet and Micro Machines / Re:STUMPED???????
« on: February 17, 2003, 12:37 AM »
They are definitely not action fleet of any sort.

my guess is they are RPG miniatures. They ahve many different sets of these and they have figures from all different movies. Sounds like you got a few from several different sets. Don't take my word for it, but you might look further into the rpg miniature sets and see what you can find...

Power of the Jedi / Re:Teebo's Peg Holes
« on: February 17, 2003, 12:10 AM »
first of all Cberry,
leave your figures carded!!!

second, my Teebo has a total of '0' foot peg holes too. I thought I would find some totally strange difference in the peg hole they hang cards on peg holders with...

so, no idea.

Third, since you opened Teebo, just take a nice power drill and gouge those necessary holes in there!!!

no, really, it is pretty interesting. Wonder if it's the same for the Saga Teebo?

Not sure why prices differ in other areas...

FINALLY!!!

Walmart herein Colorado has finally started pegging and stocking some decent stuff!!!

Today I found the following (but have yet to purchase...):
Saga TIE Bomber!!!
Eeth Koth
Teebo
Rebel Trooper (both head sculpts!!!)
Tusken Raider (Tatooine Attack) shouldn't it be Tatooine Genocide?
Padme Amidala (Droid Factory)

This store hasn't had any new stuff since before Christmas!!!

Hopefully the end of the dockworker strike will help start filling the once empty pegs in my area and yours as well!!!

Power of the Force 2 / POTF2 Variants & Errors
« on: February 13, 2003, 12:40 AM »
Discuss, ask questions or tell us about your favorite or maybe unique variants and errors from the POTF2 line of figures.

The obvious being the Boba Fett figure from Green and Red card releases. So many different errors and variants. I have 3 carded Fetts and they are all the full circle and no other error figures. I have heard of and documented so many different variants and errors on this figure and feel like this is the mother of all in this line of figures. I hope to find one or two and own them in my lifetime and wonder how many people have 1 or more of these in their collection?

Power of the Force 2 / POTF2 Bootleg figures
« on: February 13, 2003, 12:35 AM »
We all know they are out there...

Share what unofficial or bootleg figures you have, like or even want in your collection.

I personally do not own any, but the most interesting one's I've seen that I can't figure out are a Red Carded Boba Fett with the figure being all silver and a Green carded Jawa 2-pack the same. They were on authentic cards and they looked damn good for a bootleg job. I wasn't about to pay $100 for both, but the dealer wanted what they paid... Still haven't heard or seen anything that is close to them or that others exist.

Vintage Kenner / Vintage Variants/Errors
« on: February 13, 2003, 12:30 AM »
If you have a question, comment or a rare error or variant figure you'd like to discuss from the vintage era of Kenner figures, this is the place! I try and pride myself on being a bit of an expert in this field and am interested in what you all have to say or ask me.

First topic is the Han Solo head variants/sculpts. There is so much conflicting information as to which headis more rare and which head actually looks better. If you ask me, my information tells me the small head is the more rare version and they should have gone somewhere in between. He either looks like he's anorexic or has been through an Ewok head shrinking ritual. Any thoughts or comments?
