Awesome stuff, Gregorbian. I love it all! Especially the super-super articulated "Gorb squad" clone. I can't wait to to a super-super articulated clonie myself!

Ah, I tried the makeshift dulcoat of three parts water to five parts rubbing alcohol to 2 parts elmer's white glue. I couldn't find rubbing alcohol, so I used the closest thing: purell hand sanitizer. The mixture goes on clear and when it dries it really reduces the scratching, but you have to put on at least two coats before it does so. When applied to apple barrel it almost has the non-scratching properties of tamiya paints! It works wonders and adding purell to the mixture instead of rubbing alcohol makes it smell really good!

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: RED ARC Trooper?
« on: May 21, 2005, 09:34 PM »
my neck of the woods has always been bone dry. We haven't seen any ARC troopers, period and we didn't even get the last wave of the clone wars figs, so I missed out on kit, saesee, and the SA clonetrooper  :-[

I CANNOT get my eyes off that jango fett repaint. I simply love it!

I used it before - I used a spray that you can buy at Walmart.  I waited until the paint dried.  Then sprayed... but you have to spray very lightly or the figure will get gooey and attract lint and pet hairs.

I really don't have much success with the dull coat - when it did work for me, what I did was paint the figure, let it dry, spray it down, let it dry, and paint it again.

 :P

ah, that's odd. I hear dulcoat is supposed to keep it from getting sticky (if you're using enamels). I was looking it up and I hear a good makleshift dulcoat is 5 parts water, two parts rubbing alcohol and three parts elmer's white liquid preschool-type glue. That sounds fishy to me, but it's making me so very curious so I have to try it. I'll let you guys know the verdict after I try it (If I can find some rubbing alcohol)

We were just bustin' on ya.

Have you tried sealing the paint with a coating of Dulcoat? I've done that before, and it keeps the paint scratching to a minimum. :)

Kevin

Thanks for the tip, kevin! How exactly do I go about sealing the paint with dulcoat? Do I wait till the acrylic dries and then put it on? What's the best dulcoat to get?

Photonovels and Movies / Re: Photonovel story pitches
« on: May 20, 2005, 10:28 PM »
Sounds really cool man - I like that idea.

As for myself, my Rykrof Enloe series still has a long way to go.  Just a few months into the Clone Wars still.   Hard to believe there's already 10 stories up.

 :P

Yeah, It's based on an existing EU character, but there's no material on him except for a two (or was it only one?)-paragraph exerpt insider article, so I thought it'd be good to make a story about him.

And I can't WAIT for chapter 11 to reach us. PLEASE BRING IT SOON! :)

Photonovels and Movies / Photonovel story pitches
« on: May 20, 2005, 07:16 PM »
Does anyone have a concept or a pitch they'd like to share with the rest of us about a photonovel they're working on? Anyone have any juicy stories about any or everything star wars they'd like to share? Anyone?

Well, I'll start. I'm working on a potential photonovel I call "Mandalore sa ka'rta" (which translates to "heart of the mandalore"), which follows the life of an ARC trooper named Spar as he battles as a republic ARC trooper and discovers his destiny as a soldier lies elsewhere as, strangely, he experiences the memories of his training sargeant and template of existence, Jango Fett. Long story short, it's going to be a photonovel of the reformation of the Mandalorian mercenary army during/after the Clone Wars.

What about

24. Han Solo (Who needs clones when you've got legions of your favourite tight pants-wearing smuggler?)

Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Jango Fett: Open Seasons
« on: May 19, 2005, 08:51 PM »
The thing I liked most about this EU story is how they portrayed the Mandalorians in "Open seasons". It says straight up in the beginning of the first issue that mandalorians under jaster's command were mercenaries plain and simple. they were soldiers doing their job and nothing else, which is very boba/jango fett.

Other forms of EU always portray Mandalorians as honour-bound warriors with deep-rooted traditions and I'm not really one for that because it doesn't really match up with Jango and boba's lifestyles. I'm not saying that boba and jango were amoral, I'm just saying that they weren't too strung up with honor.

 Plus, Jaster kicks ass.

I dunno if I want to make one now or wait till the "evolutions" set for the SA clone with the removable helmet.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Bly and his squad
« on: May 18, 2005, 12:32 AM »
I was actualy planning on making an ARC commander using the gunner's pauldron. I was going to give him the ARC helmet circa the clone wars (AOTC-style with a mandalorian rangefinder) and give him a black paint scheme over where the red or blue of the usual ARCs are. He's gonna be called "Commander Gunmetal" when I finish him, cause I'd probably paint him in gunmetal black. Thanks, Coeli; now I knoe what to expect when I make him!

I've fallen madly in love with the Right one!

"Bly, will you marry me?"
"Negative"

Heh, Ordo was indeed Canderous' last name, I honestly kinda like it.  ;D

I am SO doing this custom once I find a clone commander.
