I'm organizing the program for the Celebration IV collecting track. I'm very interested in hearing ideas for talks, panels, and activities for the C4 collecting program, especially new topics that haven't been covered before, interactive events, and suggestions that span the diversity of interests & demographics in Star Wars collecting.

Also, if you have feedback on things that worked well or could stand to improve from previous Celebration collecting events/talks, please let me know. Just shoot me an email with your suggestions. Thanks.

Gus posted this over on RS: http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2267993 and he's looking for input from all collectors so here's your chance to have a say.

You're best bet is to buy a new one. Most loose vintage figures can be had for $5-10, super mint ones may go up to $20 or so for most. There are exceptions like last 17 and some of the original 12 but for the most part they are attainable in that range.

If these are childhood figures and you want to keep them but just hope to display them better just do what I did as a child, wrap some thread around the joint. It tightens it up enough to stand or hold an arm out.

Sounds like the inner card portion of the box where the bubble is attached. Just for  a price point reference here is a recent auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330000528620
Box is a beater but it's all there for $25.08.

Here's some from Brain's Toys
http://www.brianstoys.com/bvc2004/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=SVBBMAXREBOBANDMIBC7*C9C7NOPOP (you'll have to copy this link as the end is not linking)
$60 with outter box and POP cut
http://www.brianstoys.com/bvc2004/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=SVBBMAXREBOBANDMIBC8
$90 C8 open box

Those guys can be pricey too so I'm sure you get the idea that $70 is way high for just the inner card with a yellow bubble.

You can always augment your loose collection with a few really ugly bootlegs. They make great conversation pieces.  ;)

Actually, that Luke is a 1st Gen and the Fett is probably a 2nd. The jury is still out but leans toward it being a 2nd Gen.

I was wondering if any of you have dealt with or have heard things about this seller. As you all know i am trying to get a Vlix figure. I just want to make sure its not a custom. Any help woul dbe appreciated.

Vlix

It's legit. Jordan is a known dealer with Kenner and other connections. This is a Kenner first shot though not a Glasslite figure.

The high bidder also happens to have THE most complete Vlix run in the hobby. Good luck!

And I have a feeling you'd be first in line for them, right?  ;)

Hardly. If a carded Vader came up I know me, JoeY, an under-the-radar UK bootleg collector, Kim Zoll, Jay Butler, and Bill McBride would *all* have interest. I have a feeling it would come down to Bill, Joe, Jay, and the UK guy battling. It would get UGLY.

Thanks for chiming in John.  Anything you can add on the foreign released Vaders,

I think you've done a pretty good job thus far. None come to mind but you might try emailing Bill McBride or Jack Gossett.

Actually... though it isn't a 3 3/4" you may want to keep your eye peeled for a Takara 8" carded Vader:
http://www.toysrgus.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=39732
It's not an easy piece to find and will probably cost you $600-800 to land but it's a KILLER piece.

or is your focus primarily bootlegs?

It's been primarily bootlegs and prototypes for at least 2-3 years now. It doesn't stop me from keeping abreast of other parts of the hobby, though, just from buying other parts. ;)

Anytime you want to make that bootleg leap drop me a line. I'm sure I can find you a Vader or two. :)

Let's not forget Polish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gen carded. None are in my article because none have turned up yet. Expect that to go for well over $1,000 if any of them come up. ;^)

If you are including loose there are Polish unarticulated and many Mexican pieces.

D'oh! I should read threads to the end before looking up links. LOL

It's already been said that the card is a used 48C printed Ackbar offer figure. Used cardbacks like that normally sell for $1-3 at most. If it were a really rare cardback or torn cleanly you may have gotten a premium. I paid $20 or $25 years ago for a Palitoy (UK Distributor) Fett cardback where the bubble fell off pretty clean and was included with the auction. Aside from a situation like that you won't get any more. In fact, the writing on the border will take the price down even more.

Hey all,

I posted this at RS but figured I'd add it here so Dale could check it out.

I created an album on the Archive of our trip. These are just the pics I took and I did not have a camera the day I went boarding so hopefully others can use this post to add thier own. I'm looking at you Dale!

Enjoy!

when that pic is up, I'm real interested to see how the hybrid looks. Assuming an ARAH style set of legs was used a lot of work would have been necessary to get them to fit with the Rebel Solider. Is it just the legs themselves or is the pelvis/waist used as well? Either way would have it's own unique difficulties in meshing with a vintage SW figure.

Shane would be a much better person to ask what figure, or time frame, or series, the legs came from. In this case it was just legs. They were rubber and had the same leg pins as a 3rd Gen SW figure. They basically painted the legs grey to match the grey soldier and "VOILA". It's pretty neat. IIRC There's also a Lando General out there with both legs and arms belonging to Joes. I'd like to get pics of that too.

I've got some other stuff lined up but I'll try to get that up soon. For now drop me an email southside_201@yahoo.com and I'll send you the pic to see.

The Leia arms are the ATAT Driver. As for the Joe sword there are others. In recent years information has surfaced that the company that made the 3rd Generation SW bootlegs also made a pretty hard to find set of GI Joe bootlegs as well. That would explain the inclusion of the Snake Eye sword and others. I'll be updating my article in the coming months to include this information. Several hybrid Joe/SW figures have also surfaced. I helped Shane acquire one of every bootleg Joe weapon and a Hoth Rebel with GI Joe legs. I'll be adding a pic of that to my article as well.

For those with an interest in these bootlegs who have never read my article it's the best information available online or in print. Have a read:

I'm due to add many more color variants and some new 3rd Gen information but as is it'll give you a great start in learning about these lines.

Dale, neat stuff. If you ever want any more just LMK and I'll see what I can get you. ;)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I've got a few prototypes for the Scout pistol to go with my focus.

Included in that pic are a proof sheet, first shot gun, internal Kenner photstats of the technical rendering, and a framed box flat that was actually a sign-off sample. You can see the signature on the upper flaps near the edge of the pic. I still haven't gotten around to getting a boxed one to go with the run.  :P

I've also got a die cut board for the sticker. You can see it on the top shelf on the left hand side in front of Lando in this pic. Basically, it's a ROTJ logo from a comp sheet that has a plastic overlay. You can see the same size pattern underneath the logo that is on top of it. That would basically be the size of the sticker for the ROTJ Han Pistol according to the SKU# on it. Once again I haven't gotten around to getting a production one.

Some of these child-sized pieces are really neat IMO.
