Your pocket knife -
« on: May 5, 2003, 07:46 AM »
Figured it'd be cool to see what everyone carries with them to work/etc.

My side-blade is definately the coolest one I've had for some time now... a Kabar Warthog Folder...

So, what are you guys carrying?

I don't bring mine to work, except for some select jobs.  It's a Leatherman.

I usually don't carry a knife anymore. I have an office job now but when I do it is just a  small buck knife folder. Nothing to special.

Brad, you're starting to remind me of Rambo now.   ;)

I have a simple Victorinox Swiss Army knife that's attached to my keys that I carry in my pocket.  It's definitely nothing too fancy, but it does get the job done.

I have a Leatherman as well, can't remember which one.  I don't carry it everyday, only while fishing and hunting :-*

Ah, the opportunity to show that I am truly insane.  Not that there was ever any doubt.

I have a THING for knives.  I absolutely love them.  No idea why, but I just can't resist them and get one or two a year.  Kind of a collecting thing, but not really.

Nifty little Gerber clip knife (3" blade) sitting on my desk right now.  In the drawer is a small Buck with a similar blade.  Also a Swiss army knife - can't remember the model though.

Next drawer has a larger Gerber fixed blade that is used more as a digging tool than anything else.  Nice 6" blade.  There's also a Schrade Old Timer which is similar to Brad's knife in the picture above.  Also have a small McNett scuba knife (yes, I am a certified diver. no, I don't recall why it's at work with me).

In the car are two Swiss army knives and a Spiderco Delica clip on knife.  Just seems the car is a repository for knives - great for when you get pulled over and the car is searched.  One of the Swiss army knives is a gift from a friend and is directly from Switzerland.  The other has the magnifying glass in it.  Great description eh?  There's a Leatherman original in the car and probably my original Scuba knife is in the trunk.  Somewhere.  My golf bag, that is currently in the trunk, has the Swiss Army golfer version (green repair tool).

My keychain has the small Swiss army knife (orange in colour) on it.  I think my wife has one as well and there are probably two more in the house.  I can't honestly recall how many more pocket knives are around the house, maybe another six or so.

Just found a green Swiss army knife that was a gift from one of the groups I gave a presentation to this past winter.  It's in my desk too.

Hmm, it's summer.  Think I should go find another.

I only have one knife. A 463.1500 Jungle King II, Black, Aitor of Spain survival knife. I use it when I go backpacking & fishing. Best survival knife I have ever owned.

The name of the knife "Aitor Jungle King II", sounds like a name for a movie.  ;D

...Since when was it mandatory to carry a knife?! ;)

I will say that I don't have one, but I think it'd be cool to get one. :P

I stopped carrying a knife after I killed a man with my bare hands.  :-X Oooppps I did not mean to say that.  ;D No seriously, I do not carry a knife.

For those of you looking for me. I am now at www.sandtroopers.com

Well, I don't really have one of the "big boy" knives like y'all.   :-[  I've just got a couple of the standard Swiss Army Knives, but that's about it.  I've got the little tiny thin one on my key chain - the one with just a small blade, scissors, nail file/screwdriver, toothpick and tweezers.  Comes in quite handy.  Problem is, it gets confiscated almost everywhere I go now.  Clubs, stadiums, airport - basically anywhere with a metal detector.  They always confiscate it, and I've got to go buy another one for $10 or so (they never give it back).  Think I'd learn and take it off beforehand, huh?  Well think again...   ::)

I also have the mother of all Swiss Army Knives, and what's cool about it, is that we actually bought it IN Switzerland on our European vacation.  It's the biggest model with the absolute most gadgets that they had available when we bought it around 1990 - about 64 "thingees" in all if I recall.  I take it with me whenever I go traveling, hiking, outdoors, etc.  Fun stuff!  I can burn ants with the magnifying glass, saw a tree branch with the saw, scale a fish, fix the screw in someone's glasses, etc, etc...

But I'm certainly a far cry from the rest of you crazy Rambo wannabes!!   ;D   :P
