KEBco Toys Question
« on: May 6, 2003, 03:44 PM »
Current Hasbro distribution being what it is in my area (suck suck suckity sucksucksuck), I'm considering buying my figures online again. In the past I've purchased figures by the case from NewForce, which is of course cheaper per figure, but it's also a pain in the rump. Too many figures, dupes of ones I don't want, etc.

I'm thinking of giving KEBco's One of Every Figure Club a try, but I'd like to read some testimonials, good or bad. Who's in it, and if you are, how satisfied are you with their service?

Thanks for the help!

I cannot really comment on them cause I have never really bought from them.  I did preorder a couple of figures last spring that should be coming soon.  Most of what I have heard has been positive though right up there with Newforce in the world of etailers

I won a free figure from their Free Figure a Day give away in April. I got it in a styrofoam packed box, great condition.

:o LAST SPRING?! :o That's hardly a ringing endorsement! I was hoping to get 2003 figures THIS YEAR. Maybe I'll take my chances with Wal-Mart.

I read through their membership Q&A and while it's a little pricier than retail (by a buck a figure + shipping), the amount of time I'll save hunting down figures is worth it to me. But not if I have to read how COOL these figures are from readers on the west coast only to have to wait a year for my own!

I'm looking to decrease my frustration level, not add to it.

I've heard good things about them, with the occasional couple complaints like every e-tailer gets.  The one of every figure club sometimes ships real quick, and sometimes not.  I don't think there's a huge amount of consistency to it sometimes.  KebCo basically ships out whenever Hasbro ships stuff to them - hence the occasional delays.

Basically, you're likely looking at some frustration no matter how you slice it really...  As for me - the thrill of the hunt, and the thrill of trading usually suffices.  But I live in L.A. and therefore have quite a lot of local stores at my disposal, so I'm probably pretty spoiled in that respect, especially here on the West Coast.  It's going to be a challenge no matter what.  But with word coming out that Hasbro's reps are starting to clear out the aisles around the country, it's just a matter of time 'til this new (2003) stuff hits the pegs I think...  Just a question on how patient you want to be.  With but a couple of rare exceptions, I've always found that patience pays off every time.  But that's just me, I can hold out for a while...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do John...

The 5% discount applies to any new order, including the One of Every Figure Club.

I'm a current member of the "One of Every Figure" club, and I've been satisfied so far.  I've had one shipment come to me which included 5 figures.  Unfortunately 3 of the figures weren't truly MOMC condition (most people here know how I'm anal about MOMC condition), so I wrote their customer service about getting the problem resolved.  They responded quickly, and promised they would send replacements with my next shipment of figures.  Best yet, they don't want the damaged carded figures returned to them.  They told me to keep them.  Not bad!  So, their customer service is quite good if you ask me.

My second order has just shipped today, which is going to include the following...

-- Deluxe Spider Droid
-- Deluxe Flying Jango Fett
-- Deluxe Super Battle Droid Builder
-- Tusken Raider w/Massiff (the figure I won from them!)
-- the 3 replacement figures (hopefully they didn't forget to include them in this shipment)

Hunting for figures is worthless these days, because I always end up with the same results... finding nada!  If I were you, I would just start ordering all your figures online.  You'll save money in gas, wear & tear on your car, and won't have headaches anymore.

I too just recently joined the OoEF club and so far am satisfied.  My first shipment was the two speeder bikes and Leia and Vader redux Unleashed.  I received them about two weeks after placing the order.  Excellent shipping and packing.

My next order hasn't shipped yet because I'm having them hold figures until more figures come in.  My next order should have the flying R2, Mace, Han, Chewie and deluxe Spider Droid.

When and if you sign up, you don't have to get every figure.  I had already signed up for a case with Aayla, Barris, Yoda and the padawans from newforce and didn't want doubles, so I just left the qty. 0.  No problems, but every new figure I'll get from Kebco hassle free.  They automatically update your order when new figs are announced.  I'm already on order for the Clone Wars vehicles.

They do charge your CC 50% when a new order is placed and when new items are added, but everything is laid out nicely on your account status page.

Isn't this sad?  I love hunting for figures (and that seems to have been the driving force behind my involvement with McFarlane) but what's the point.  I haven't purchased a figure for myself (SW that is) in Canada since probably August of last year, maybe September.  I found a few trilogo things for variant trading partners, but that's about it.  Tragic, it is.

Hunting for figures is a ton of fun, but lately there hasn't been squat available.  It is so depressing...

I belonged to it when it first started but quit because I kept finding what I needed locally and I'm sure you know what happened as soon as I quit....yup, nothing has shown up for ages.  I have never had any problems but as mentioned earlier, you don't always get the new figures right away, it just depends on when Ken gets the shipments in.  I did notice in an email from EE and Newforce (the best place to order 12" figures btw) that case 11 and 13 are almost duplicate free.  One of them is 12 different figures and the other has 9 different ones (one extra of Luke,Vader and the trooper) which really isn't bad.

But back to the main question, Kebco is an honest e-tailer and if you really can't find anything, It's probably the way to go.
