« on: October 29, 2003, 11:02 AM »
The Official Star Wars Website, has brought some nice looking Clone Wars Wave 1 - Animated figures pictures, and has said that Wave 2 consistes of :Count Dooku, Clone Trooper, Durge and Yoda.  Can't wait to see how Animated style Yoda will look.  How do you think these Waves will do , simply BAD or GOOD!

For Hard-Core fans I think these will go well. As for others, I am not sure. I know I want a set.
For those of you looking for me. I am now at www.sandtroopers.com

More than likely I will get some of these.  I can't pass them up.  I like the look of the cartoon after seeing the promos.

I really like the animated shorts and the current Clone Wars line but, I just can't justify something that makes the "regular" line that much harder to obtain. If this kiddie-junk is going to be taking up the same peg-space as the Saga and now Clone Wars lines... well, you figure it out. >:(

If only "die-hards" are going to buy them why not make them exclusive to the Fan Club thus saving those precious four to eight pegs for the two lines currently competeing for space on them.

Wow...

This "kiddie-junk" isn't going to take up any of your precious peg space dedicated to the crap selling Clone Wars line, and the barely surviving Saga line...

The entire line will be exclusive to Target; as such, Target will assign this new line a new DPCI, which means it will have its own dedicated peg space. So even if these sit on the pegs for decades, the would never make the other figures any harder to get.

As for the above section; I think these will do exceptionally well, as there is already a lot of talk amongst kids-teens about the cartoon. On three seperate occasions now (three seperate stores), since Saturday morning, I have heard kids talking to their parents/friends/even me about the "cool Star Wars cartoon" and how they "wished they had figures like those". One kid even pointing out the JLA figures: "They should make figures that look like these". I also teach at a Jr/Sr High School, and the new cartoon is all the rage right now. It appeals to the young crowd, the Star Wars crowd, and even the "too old for cartoons" crowd because of its stylized action oriented appeal, like Samurai Jack.

The entire line will be exclusive to Target;

I didn't know that.  Lucky thing there's a Target where my daughter goes to college or I'd probably never see them.  Oh she's gonna love this news!! ;) :-*

No offense, but you are seriously out-of-touch if you think the standard figures are "crap selling" and "barely surviving". If you consider a line that has lived for nearly thirty years, with a ten year hiatus, "crap selling" then all toy lines should be so lucky. More importantly, can you back your accusations with actual sales numbers or is it just in your opinion?

And as for the Toon Wars figures being exclusive to Target; I'll believe it if in six months you can still only find them at Target. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you cleared that up for me. I want nothing more for this junk (IMO) to live a separate existence from the standard line. Hell, if they give it its own section then let Hasbro make all the Toons you anime-fans can stomach. But, I am not buying!

I already expressed the exact same concern as Todd here when I first heard about this new Animated line, so hopefully you're right Adam, and Target indeed does keep this line completely seperate from the Saga stuff.  That would certainly help the looming situation of 3 seperate Star Wars action figure lines being sold concurrently at retail.

The current CW lineup is already severely eating away at the Saga availability in my area, in almost every store.  A number of stores out here aren't even carrying Saga anymore - just Clone Wars.  So that's bad enough as it is.  Hopefully this new line is looked at (and coded) by Target as a completely different entity altogether, unlike our current CW lineup which is technically selling under the Saga brand label.

Hopefully the quantities for these animated figures are scaled back just a bit from the current CW line, since it's pegwarming by the hundreds everywhere now.  If the quantities, and case assortments are fairly reasonable, then I think this line will do OK, assuming they don't wait too long to get it to the market, so the cartoon is still around to support it's sales.  Looks like that won't be a problem though, since they're already up on eBay.

I don't think it's unreasonable to speculate that this animated line might take some otherwise available pegs away from the Saga line though - even if they are coded seperately.  Can't a toy department manager just say "well, we're going to put out about 6 pegs worth of this new animated line of SW figures, but I don't want to overdue Star Wars altogether, so perhaps I'll reduce the Saga pegs by about 4 to compensate for the new stuff a little"...?  That sounds possible to me.  Hopefully not probable, but definitely possible...

We shall see...   :-\

Let's not forget about that minimun-wage paid, under-anxious teen that could care less what Star Wars figures go where. It will happen time and time again. Seriously though, I'm not apposed to these. Just keep 'em over by the Simpsons and Power Rangers where they belong.
