Star Destroyer wave question?
« on: November 7, 2003, 12:56 AM »
I 've been trying to predict what other characters may possibly show up in the Star Destroyer wave.  I know who I would like to see.  Along with Dengar and possibly Ozzel, I wouldn't mind seeing a

4-LOM
General Veers
Black suited Imperial Officer
Death Star Trooper

Here are some I hope don't show up
Zuckuss
Stormtrooper
IG-88
Fett
Bossk
Piett
                                            Thoughts???

Gonna address the ones you brought up, then my own,
4-LOM- Decent figure already... can't say I'd care much about seeing a resculpt until I saw the final product.

General Veers- I'm sure everyone wants to see this guy... I've heard some wish-lists asking for removable armor/helmet... but I don't see Hasbro pulling that off... I'll go with armor and removable helmet, that way you can boil and pop his head and put on a random officer if you'd like...

Black suited Imperial Officer- - Flat outfit, I assume? I'd rather have gray.

Death Star Trooper- Agreed... even though it's the Star Destroyer wave. :P

Here the ones ya don't want...

Zuckuss- Why not? I want to see this guy made. I think there's some improvement to be made articulation wise, and also with his skirt/dress thing.

Stormtrooper- Definately need a neutral-posed, highly articulated Stormy.

IG-88- They've got one in POTJ and rereleased with the bounty hunter pack... Not needed.

Fett- 300th was rereleased in the bounty hunter pack, that should be enough...

Bossk- I'd actually like a new one if it was improved enough.

Piett- We NEED a new Piett... Haven't had one since POTF and I've only got one... I want a new one that doesn't suck.

I'm going to comment on these as well.

4-LOM: Yes, we already have a decent 4-LOM figure, but I think ignorance is bliss on this one. He uses the same outdated POTF2 protocol droid body as the '95 C-3PO, so an update wouldn't break my heart. Plus, I've always wanted a 4-LOM that could be posed in a sniping position, as that's the only real way I could imagine 4-LOM fighting.

General Veers: I like your idea of a removeable helmet for Veers. As much as I hate to admit it, Hasbro probably wouldn't be able to pull off a removeable armor Veers. It would either look wierd with the armor or look wierd when the armor was off. Either way, we need a new Veers.

Black suited Imperial Officer: A good sculpt with head variations could be released, and then Hasbro could start releasing uniform color variations—Black, Grey, Olive, White—and we could start to really build up our forces. If the rank bar was a seperate strip that Hasbro could just glue on each variation, we could have many different types of officers.

Death Star Trooper: We definitely need a decent, updated version of this Imperial. I prefer to just call them Imperial Fleet Troopers, since they're seen on the Star Destroyer and the Death Star.

Zuckuss: Wouldn't be a bad idea. Hell, they could even rerelease the POTF2 version, since that was a great figure and many people didn't even find it.

Stormtrooper: Hasn't this already been confirmed? In my opinion, there should always be Stormtroopers on the pegs...always.

IG-88: Not needed.

Boba Fett: Not needed unless its a super articulated version.

Bossk: I would love to have a new, updated Bossk. Especially with a little more articulation, a black rifle, improved sculpt, maybe the ability to look down like he does on the star destroyer, etc.

Piett: Piett is sorely needed. The one we have doesn't even look remotely like Piett, and he's stuck in a lame stepping stance. Not cool. Give us a Piett that can stand at attention....Please!

And here's some I'd like to see...

Imperial "Technician": For lack of a better name. The Imperials down in the bridge pits who had grey jumpsuits, black boots, black hats and gloves. A repaint of the POTJ/SAGA Imperial officer is fine n' dandy. Give him a datapad or control panel or something.

Holographic Emperor: Gotta have this.

Captain Needa: Could use the same body as Piett.

Regarding yours  :D :
Imperial "Technician": That was what I was going to suggest. I definately want to see this guy made, with articulated knees - seeing as most were sitting down.

Holographic Emperor: I wouldn't get it - but I guess for those who couldn't find Holographic Sidious it would be nice.

Captain Needa: Agreed.  :D

Here's one I thought up... :-X...

Admiral Ozzel: I'm not sure why Hasbro hasn't done this guy yet. He was choked on-screen, like Motti, but Ozzel actually died. Brownie points.  ;)

My choices would go like this:

-General Maxmillian Veers:  Neutral sculpt, with good to decent articulation...  I think the removable armor is completely possible considering the Clone Pilot's removable armor.  The extra bulk of the officer's armor would help that for how it looks over the officer's tunic...  And of course, removable helmet and hat are possible so that'd be cool.  If they could incorporate the warbelt as well, even if it's connected to the armor piece, that would also rock.

-Imperial Naval Trooper:  Just an ultra articulated "Death Star Trooper" with removable helmet...  Working holster with the proper blaster pistol would be nice too.  Considering these guys are dealt the crappy duty of dragging the bodies away that Vader creates, it'd make a good Star Destroyer Wave figure...  They're there afterall.

-Imperial Crewman/Technician:  Indeed, a needed figure.  Reuse the POTJ sculpt, give it new arms (Gloveless, and with the silver cylinders in the shoulder sleeves), and a new headsculpt (Multiple sculpts would rock).  A removable headset would be nice too...  Articulated legs, even if they used the TIE Pilot pack-in legs, and a computer console/chair would ROCK this figure.  Lots of reused parts even with only new arms/head and accessories...  Not too shabby I think.

-New Bossk:  Yes, I'll take heat for this but I like Bossk...  Why?  Because Trandoshans get ALLLLLL da ladies.  I'd take a new Bossk then...  Better sculpt, and better articulation...  Wookie pelt accessory maybe.  ;D  Ok, yeah, none of the rest of you want this, but I do.  I'm allowed dreams. :)

I'd personally rather they saved the Stormtrooper for a Death Star wave perhaps or something else (Endor wave?)...  Hell, maybe even an Imperial forces wave of ultra articulated Troopers...  Snow, Scout, Stormie, and AT-ST (Imperial Army) troops?  :)  Now tell me THAT wave wouldn't sell over and over and over?

you beat me to it. the clone trooper with removeable armor isn't perfect, but he's not bad. as long as he is in a neutral pose, i think that it might be able to be done. the sculpting at hasbro has been getting better and better (for the most part at least)

I saw a custom from these 2 brothers, their last name's Taylor (Jon and Pat I think?) who joined the FFURG customizing listserver around the time I was getting fed up with it, haha...

Anyway, I believe ONE of them did a General Veers with removable armor.  Baring in mind they were using all pre-made parts and fitting them together and they STILL got a decent looking figure out of it...  Hasbro could certainly do better I think, especially if the body armor were thin like the Clone Bikerscout's armor is...  It's tiny, but fits snug to the figure really.  It looks a LOT better than I had anticipated that figure looking...  Too bad the figure itself was made in an awkward pose with a lame feature.  That was a Clone that had uber possibilities from Hasbro, but was essentially a let-down that they never even f ixed for teh re-release. :(

Read my post again, Jesse, I'm all for a new Bossk. He's my favorite Bounty Hunter.  ;)
