I wonder how many of these Greg(g) has in his own collection to go with the hundred or so vintage stormtroopers he said he has which he got when they went on clearance at $1 or so back in the end days of vintage.

Pardon my ignorance, but wouldn't Greg(g) have been about -5 when the clearance of vintage stormtroopers happened?  Hell, if it had been 1985-ish, I would only have been 21.  Or was this all tongue-in-cheek?

That would be what I wondering about Greg(g) stated this over at RS or the old BHC a few years back.  When I first read that I figured he was just BSing but wasn't sure until Scott and Matt found that picture of him and it showed he would be really young back then if he was around at all.  It just another on of GNT holyness.

I'm sorry I missed that... Does the thread still exist or was it blasted into oblivion by Greg[g]?

I'm sure all of those old threads in the Vintage section are gone, they did some major house cleaning a few months back so a lot of history is gone too

And guess who got to decide what stays and what goes???

I'm not sure where it is now its been awhile since I seen the thread and not sure in which section it was in.  I think one of the modern day sections but not too sure.

No offense, but being the operations guy that I am, I am left to go with the facts presented before me.

GNT = 26,261 posts member on Scum since 5/18/00

JediMAC = 6,789 posts between both JD and Scum

Maybe you should try counting the actual word count in those posts.  I'm sure you'll see then that in actuality, I've posted FAR MORE than our little Aussie punching bag.   :-*

A thread about JediMAC turns into a rant about GNT...

... Only at Jedi Defender. :)

EDIT: Okay, I read the whole thread. Matt was absolutely correct with his statements, and I'm glad someone finally said something about the stupid stuff GNT types. Good job.

Greg(g) is an idiot.

"It's not Hasbro/Kenner's fault that the bubble falls off, I would say that it's the person who owns the item didn't pay much care to the piece at all. The main problem would be where the figure was stored so as mentioned above heat would play a factor into the bubble popping off. Also the packaging isn't meant to last forever, in time bubbles will fade and bubbles might fall off depending on the location of the items. The only way Hasbro plays a part is the materials they use but Hasbro's aim is to get the figure to the shelf (in most cases) then the item being bought and opened. "

What an idiot.

And I'm not talking about a simple moron, but a full-blown multifaceted imbecile of monumental proportions. Being the third party to this conversation last night, and another victim of a deteriorating Theater Edition Luke, I’m actually offended reading his comments above. I haven’t been reading the RS discussion (don’t even lurk now) but there are legitimate degradation issues with the card, which is obvious just by the conversation we had last night, and I’m sure there’s been plenty of other confirmation of it from plenty of people out there.

To make multiple assumptions, from the storage conditions of those with issues, to the knowledge of the cardback quality, to Hasbro’s distribution intentions, is the sign of extraordinary ignorance, and the mark of a true fool.

I’m glad MAC ripped into him, because he’s deserving of every word.

Heh, I made a brief reply because I felt I had something I could add...

Irregardless, Greggggggg(g) asked for that.  Dude needs to watch his mouth about how he trashes forum members without thinking before he hits "enter".

BTW this thread's about Matt ranting about Gregggggggggggg(g), so technically it was always about Greggggggggggggggg(g)[g] anyway.  :)

LOL!! Kudos to you Matt, on a hilarious yet insightful rant on Greg(g).

The thing I find most interesting about Greg(g) if I may be indulged here for a moment is, that on the one hand he goes spouting off about stuff he either has no knowledge of or just a very narrow and easily disputable opinion on. Yet on the other hand he has proven to be helpful on certain topics, most likely those topics he does have knowledge of. If he could just merge the two together in a nice cohesive way and take to heart the suggestions given to him he may not be as big of a pain in the ass as most think he is. But ya know, old dogs, new tricks, not happening....

You know the wannabe Journalist (heh, I like to write and no I'm not a Marxist) has made me request an interview with 'ol Greg(g). Anyone have a burning question for GNT?
Though I doubt he'll take me up on the proposal, I think it's worth a try. More details coming up on: The Vatorist Manifesto

He won't do an interview with you. He knows you are "one of us" and that the interview would press the questions that really matter... ie - How were you able to pick up clearanced stormies when you were merely a sperm?

Maybe Australia had a ton of clearanced SW stuff, but when I was about 3 (1987) I saw a Star Wars product on the shelves for the first and last time until the 90's...

I was born in the year of the Jedi (1984), and Greg(g)'s entire point in his lie about that was to establish the fact that he is "of the age" (1977-1984) - when in fact he isn't. I bet it just kills him that he can't say he was born earlier (o wait, he does say he was born earlier, nevermind).

First of all, on the Theater Luke front, part of the reason for the bubble drops or whatever probably has something to do with the quality of the packaging as a whole.  Mine (and I don't know if everyone else's is like this) came on a card that is about half as thick as a regular POTF2 card of that time period, and is about a third as glossy (at least on the back).  I would wager this is why it is so difficult to find one of these in perfect condition (out of the five that my friends and I got on opening night of the ROTJ: SE, and yes there were five of us, so it was only one each, only one had no creases in the cardback).  If Hasbro/Kenner put that little effort into the card, then it only stands to reason they cheaped out on the glue as well.

Okay, now on to the fun stuff...  ;D

When I read that thread yesterday (linked to from the now locked RS thread), I nearly fell off my chair laughing.  If it were possible to be funny and serious at the same time, you certainly achieved that, Matt.  The thing I found most surprising was that one of the RS forum mods even pretty much agreed with you about Greg(g)'s lack of thinking.  I'm curious to know if Wise-ass has already written to reprimand you or ban you for speaking the truth about his beloved GNT.

I wish I were banned at RS.  :-[ It'd be like a badge of honor for me at this point.

Also, if Greg(g) actually bought vintage Stormtroopers by the truckload when they were being clearanced out in 1986, then he would be the most powerful sperm in the universe.  Much stronger than Superman's "Krypton Super Sperm" that could completely destroy Lois Lane's fallopian tubes and uterus.  :)

He's not even an old dog. He's just someone who does NOT take criticism well. He doesn't admit when he's wrong. He doesn't like to look stupid, but that doesn't seem to keep him from doing so. These are all the traits of one who is far too immature to moderate objectively, effectively, and with any amount of respect from fellow board members.

I was born in the year of the Jedi (1984)...

Return of the Jedi was released in 1983, if that's what you're referring to. 1984 was the year of the Force in toys. (Or the Beverly Hills Cop at the box office, take your choice.)
Post sober.
