ROTS Worst
« on: November 28, 2005, 01:19 PM »
So which are the best ROTS figures, accessories, action features, and which are the worst?

Here are my votes (not as easy as I thought it would be):
Figures
Best:
- Clone Commander (#33, and Bly)
- SA Clonetrooper (#41)
- R4-P17 (nice paint job and great sculpt)
- Count Dooku (Boring but VERY well done)

Worst:
- Mass Ameda (Stupid tongue)
- General Grievous (Exploding Body!) -- Can't stay together

Accessories:
Best:
- Hard for me to say.  Discuss...

Worst:
- The BIG gun (Gree and AT-RT Driver)
- Clone Pilot cannon/radar thing
- Bases (too big...should be smaller)

Action Feature:
- Don't like them so they all get the thumbs down with the exception of the #6 Clone.  The quickdraw works fairly well and we got the SA clone to compensate!

Worst:
- Mass Ameda (Stupid tongue)

What?! He's one the best, and the tongue (:P) works beautifully. You can hardly see the holes when it's out, unlike Dannik Jerriko.

BEST FIGS:

SP Wookiee
SP R4-G9
#41
Bly
AT-TE Gunner & Tac Ops (Everything but the arms...)
Wookiee gunner
Obi-Wan #55
Gree
Tills
Aak
Medon
Amedda
Mustafar Anakin
Mustafarian
Palapatine #35 (Minus the action feature)
Mundi

Definitely Evolutions Anakin and Clones, if we're counting them amongst the ROTS figs. Also, op tbale Vader. Not executed as nicely as it should've been, but an undeniably cool fig.

Forgot a few from my list in another thread.

OOPS!  Didn't notice the other thread on the "Best/Favorite".  Ok then how about just the Worst.   Thanks Ook.

I think finding the worst is not easy.  The best of the line has some really, really good ones but the worst is a huge area for me.  Although I like the ROTS line more than any other line and it really sets the bar for future assortments it did have a lot of stinkers.

All time worst for me:
Grevious Bodyguard.  Man that thing stinks on ice!  It could have been cool and I like them in the movie but the figure is just goofy.  Even though the Nemoidian Warrior/Commander warms the pegs hardcore I think it's a better figure overall than the Bodyguard.

Honorable mention worst figs:
What Ook said, Yoda (Spinning Attack!) which is the Micheal Jackson of Yodas...now we have Pancho Villa Yoda (from the Clone Wars line) and Micheal Jackson Yoda
& I still hate Mas Ameeda  :P

Worst Deluxe/Multipack figure: Deluxe Emperor Palpatine.

I think I'd have to go with the Deluxe Palapatine as well. I never even bought one to open.

I have to vote for Mas Amedda and Grevious Exploding . . . .

I have not purchased either, though I think my son did pick up the exploding Grevious.

Debating on the Mas Amedda. Part of me wants to hide one and wait for Target to clearance their ROTS figures . . . .

Anyone give me a reason for purchasing the Mas Amedda? I am an opener and a non-completist.

Hey, lay off the exploding Grievous. Best Grievous in the ROTS line IMO.

Worst:

Palpatine in the Red Outfit. He's like a slightly altered version of the POTF2 Royal Guard. Just a stand with a really bad action feature.

I remember my dream now.

Anyone give me a reason for purchasing the Mas Amedda? I am an opener and a non-completist.

-He's got good articulation; ball-jointed shoulders and elbows.

-The cloak and headdress come off. The headdress slips off right over his horns.

-The tongue is cool, and you hardly notice the holes when it's removed.

-The sculpt is beautiful.

-This is the definitive Amedda, much better than POTJ.

-Even his staff has cool detail. The little figure atop it seems to be the same as one of the sculptures in Palaptine's office...it looks like a mysterious, cloaked Sith lord!

Worst:
Deluxe Obi-Wan. This is one thing I won't buy for $2.

AT-TE Gunner. I hate the arms-falling-off thing, and wasn't exactly thrilled to hear the Tac Ops Trooper would be using this mold.

Distribution of Collection 2 figures- this is the one thing that makes me want to just give up right now. I'd like to own the Tarkin wave and four Tac Ops Troopers, but I doubt I will since I don't have the time to hunt and they'll be gone by the time I can go to fine retail establishments.

Lack of Padme figures- I'm sure it isn't easy to sell an action figure of a pregnant woman, but they aren't even trying.

Best:
Pilot Obi-Wan. Why can't every figure be up to this standard?

Evolutions Anakin. Makes up for the other ****** Anakins they've issued for ROTS.

Clone Commander. He doesn't move all that well, but when I bought that first one in April, I couldn't wait to see the movie since this guy kicked so much ass.

Shocktrooper. Beautiful paint job on this guy. I liked the #6 Clone, so it didn't bother me he uses that same body. I just wish I was able to own more than one.

Bail Organa. Decent articulation, IMO appropriately sized, and no issues finding him.

Count Dooku. About time he got a figure that didn't suck.

red Royal Guard. It's a crime against fandom this figure wasn't better distributed, at least here. We got more blue Guards, but I never liked those.

Deluxe Palpatine. I just scored this thing, and I kind of like the light-up feature and turning head. It'd be great if you could keep it on the Sidious head, though.

#41 Clone. Good on Hasbro to make this thing more available. They could probably sell this figure until the end of the line if they got rid of the antenna and just packed the short and long rifles with it.

Those are good arguments.  I guess I better grab me a TRU mega 2-pack thingy.  THanks

Great idea. Forgot about the TRU two pack. Who does Mas come with? Guess I'll pick one up this weekend.

Dang, I'm starting to want a Mas Ameeda now... ::)  Heck, I get fired up about figures too easy.  I saw a phone camera pic of Tarkin sitting on the pegs at a WM and I had a sudden "Need more figures" feeling...I'm so addicted...
