Re: Darth Nirvana's Customs- Update 7/20- 3 New Cusotms and a Mini-Dio
« Reply #495 on: July 21, 2006, 12:49 PM »
Well, it's been eleven days since I last updated, and I don't have much to show for it, lol.

After a brief visit to relatives and a week long trip to summer camp, I have four customs to show.

After Order 66 and the Great Jedi Purge, the 367th Legion, or better known as the Air Drop Shock Commandos, experienced the change from the Phase 2 Republic Military Armor to the fear-inducing glossy white armor of the Imperial Army. Soon after most clone troopers began experiencing rapid degeneration due to their quick aging, the recruitment offiers were filled to the brim with young recruits eager to don the armor and extra equipment of the Drop Commandos and fling themselves out of dropships into hostile territory.

They were very succesful- 8 victorious campaigns throughout the Outer Rim. Only one conflict was tainted with their surrender- Assault on Yerd Tui'i. A small garrision of the elite commandos were sent to the Outer Rim planet to put down a supposedly small Rebel insurrection. Known as the "Dust Bowl of the Outer Rim", Yerd Tui'i had yellow fields of dust and dirt occasionally broken up by rural brick villages.

Upon landfall, the Empire realized the the Rebels numbered in nearly a thousand, and after 30 days of heavy blaster fire and siege in the dust and dirt without reinforcement, the Air Drop Shock Commandos called a surrender and left with only half of their starting force.

Private Haku, Rifleman

Sargeant Mollek, Light Combat Specialist

General Alren Selkayim, Commander of the forces of Yerd Tui'i

And last but not least, a mini-display I put together to showcase them:

Fallback Point Charlie- Assault on Yerd Tui'i

Well, I hope you like them. LMK what you think, all comments are appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Re: Darth Nirvana's Customs- New Update 7/20 PIC HEAVY

Man! That weathering is awesome! These are amazing. All the pouches, backpacks, kamas, it's all amazing.

The General however, is my least favorite of the three. The costume just isn't... I don't know.

The mini-diorama is pretty cool, but the troopers look way dirtier than the dio.

P.S. I said the same thing on Rebelscum. I just copied and pasted it here. :)

Nice work.

I really like the way the Stormtroopers look w/ the Kamas and Extra Ammo Clips. The Battle Weathering looks really nice as well, not too over the top. My only sugestions would be to get rid of the Russet Pack and the Cantina, Too Real World.

You also did a great job of weathering those Snap together brick walls that come with those el'cheapo plasets from dollar Genral.

Good Work, Keep it Up.

You know, it's funny, I just took off the packs about an hour ago, lol. It was too heavy and they kept falling over.

I agree with the canteen being too real-world-ish, but it's more of an emergency supply. Every human's got to drink water, you know?

I think my PN is going to take a dark turn (Order 66, anyone? ;)) so I'll be able to turn my Scouts into Imperials and drop the clones...with all these OT troopers on the pegs, it's alot easier...

Thanks for the comments everyone. :)

Re: Darth Nirvana's Customs- New Update 7/28- New Commandos
« Reply #500 on: July 28, 2006, 06:38 PM »
I've been really busy for the past week and will be even busier next week (won't even be online at all) so I managed to only really get three customs done...

Quilura, near North Pole, 1 year BBY

Following a number of leads and tips from various snitches planted in spaceports and marketplaces on the forested planet of Quilura, the Empire's intelligence department tracked down fugitive Jedi Master Getas Yagura to a small fortified villa on the outskirts of a small farming town near the northern pole of the planet. Not having the resources to muster up a platoon and send them planetside, the Empire called on the masterful hand of a team of Imperial Air Drop Shock Commandos- literally the best of the best. Outfitted with standard assault and recon armor with extra combat gear attactched to their belts, 3 of the Empire's finest were sent planetside to locate and nutralize the fugitive former peacekeeper and destroy his villa.

PRIVATE ONURA- A quiet, strong, soldier, Pvt. Onura was one of the first run in a new series of clones recrafted by the Empire's technicians.  With Jango Fett's DNA altered once again to stop the accelerated growth at and age of 20, these new hybrid clones were far superior to the soldiers fighting in the Clone Wars.

Onura was partially blind in his right eye due to an accidental ordnance explosion during the Outer Rim Campaigns.

PRIVATE ZHET- Outgoing with a strong personality, Onura was a second production run hybrid clone put into use by the Empire. Using his own handmade rifle from spare BlasTech parts, Zhet painted his face in a woodland camo prior to departure.

CORPORAL SODE-  The team's leader, he wears a modified Stormtrooper helmet at all times to keep a secure comlink with their command ship. Outfitted with a long range antenna and a bulky power pack, he has a large level of endurance for work and pain.

I know that they seem heavily weathered, but I remember reading on Republic Commando Hard Contact that the squad smeared mud and grime over their armor to camoflauge them.

Well, that's it for a while. The PGH Toy Show's tomorrow, so I'm hoping to score a VOTC Fett to create the Jedi's bodyguard, then I'll create his villa, then we'll have some PN action goin' on.

Thanks for looking. LMK what you think.

Nice Job.

These look very Commandoesque. With the exception of the Guns, these look much less Real World than some of your previous efforts. Good job. My only suggestion would be to Wrap some Star Wars rifles up in Cloth and replace the Coventional Guns with them.

Wow gone from the custom boards for a week and look at the kind of stuff you miss.  I was going back through some of this and had to comment.  I've always liked your stuff, but Haku, Mollek, and Zhet are like the cream of the crop.  Great execution far more realistic then actual star wars.  these are the guys that should have been on Endor.

Wow, thanks for the kind comments. I hadn't expected to get any replies when I was away.

Anyways, here's a few simple customs to show you guys:
ITO Sonther was responsible for the Air Drop Shock Commando's combat upbringing in the period between the Great Jedi Purge and the Battle of Yavin. A former Republic peace officer and later a commanding officer in the Clone Wars, Laron is in his early fifties. Smart, strong, and with a true concern for his trainee's safety and comfort, Sonther is the ideal man to train some of the best of the best.

I tried to get a clean look with his outfit and I think he turned out nice.

And next, a hybrid trooper for Yakface's Yakfinities challenge:

Sargeant First Class Van Dysar, Imperial Desert Recon Specialist

Sgt. Dysar is trained to patrol the Tatooine sands in a remote area for any Rebel cells or troops. Outfitted with old upper body armor from the Clone Wars with trousers and boots for easy mobility across the shifting dunes. His weapon of choice is his own modified DC rifle with a tactical stock, scope, and flash suppresor for stealth movements.

Well, I hope you like them. LMK what you think, all comments are appreciated. Thanks for looking.

WOW!  I really like him.  I love the use of the cody shoulders coupled with the scout legs.  Although it seems a little dark for tatooine camo, it's a very cool scheme.  Great work!

DN, your armoured troopers look like the ones who saw some real action, as opposed to the crispy white troopers we saw in the movies. Very tough looking fellas!

Sonther looks nice as well, but he's a bit too recognizable as Han...

Thanks for the comments, guys. I'm working on tow of his troopers to go in as part of a flashback in my PN in the works.

As you probably have already deduced, I always like to redo my customs to make them better. I finished up my Commando squad with an even four, and stripped all of them with all their gear to get a more streamlined look to them. I finally added new kamas and added varying height to each of them.

Private Onura- hefting the squad's only sniper rifle, Onura usually keeps to himself out of combat.

Private Zhet- the squad's scout/recon specialist, Zhet is outgoing and sociable.
*A Little Blurry*

Corporal Sode- An excellent squad leader, he is also the squa's radio man.

Private Harna- The squad's fourth and final member, his former squad was killed in a Rebel suprise attack on Tatooin. Placed in the Air Drop Shock Batallion, Harna is plagued with nightmares about the loss of his squad and is always on edge.

An "In Action" Shot--

Well, I hope you like them. LMK what you think, all comments are appreciated. Thanks for looking.
