I'd like to see 2006 focus on the TV series or possibly the formation of the Empire, but as for repacks? Clonetroopers primarily.

In my opinion (and apparently in many others' as well), if they insist on doing repacks, put stuff out that wasn't easy to find in the first place, created by not released,  or that hasn't been seen in a while and still comes up to the current standard of quality.  So, that being said, separated by film.

EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE

-TC-14 Protocol Droid
-Nute Gunray (Holograph)
-Obi-Wan Kenobi (Naboo Swamp)
-OOM-9 (Trophy Version)
-Jar Jar Binks (Naboo Swamp)
-Sio Bibble
-Darth Sidious (Holograph)
-Queen Amidala (Battle)

EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES

-Clone Trooper (from Clone Wars line; individually carded)

EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE

-VOTC Stormtrooper
-Obi-Wan Kenobi (Dagobah version repainted)
-R2-D2 with Princess Leia Hologram
-Admiral Motti
-Princess Leia (CommTech)

EPISODE V: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

-VOTC Darth Vader
-Han Solo (Bespin Capture)
-VOTC Boba Fett (in ESB colors)
-C-3P0 with Removable Limbs (POTF2)

EPISODE VI: RETURN OF THE JEDI

-Ephant Mon
-Max Rebo Band (POTF2 but only the OT trio)

Odd that I found the most figures that could be rereleased in Episode I.  Which, given Hasbro and the general public's aversion to said film, will probably mean none of those will actually ever see the light of day again.

In future, Hasbro should make one or two definitive sculpts of core characters and recard them endlessly in a perpetual Hall of Fame assortment. How many new versions of Cantina Han and Arena Mace do we need anyway? Just pick one version and recard it forever.

In principle, I'm not against repacks, as long as they're chosen well. In fact I'd be perfectly content if 2006 was 50 - 75% repacks of hard-to-find figures. I'd happily buy into an OTC style line with deeper range and good distribution (I would have bought a lot of OTC but most were hard to find in my area and I'm not going to pay $15 apiece online).

Suggestions in no particular order:

POTF2 Bantha with Tusken

POTF2 Dewback, perhaps with slightly different accessories

Qui-Gon and Eopie

Holo Sid Holo Sid Holo Sid! :P This seems like an incredible no-brainer.

Sio Bibble

POTJ/Saga Imperial Officer, with a couple head variants

Ree-Yees

Oola and Salacious Crumb

Muftak and Kabe

Figrin D'an

TC-14

Blue Coruscant Guard

Coleman Trebor

Pablo-Jill

Episode I Battle droid

Imperial Officers Motti, Piett, whoever else

Max Rebo Band -- all

Saga Tatooine Camp Ambush Tusken

the astromechs from Amidala's starship (repacked on solo cards)

AAT Tank

SA Clone Trooper (let's face it, they could crank these out by the hundreds of thousands and it'd never become a pegwarmer)

Red ARC Trooper

Hailfire droid

A movie-style Asajj Ventress on solo card

Sebulba

McQuarrie concept stormtrooper

CW Animated Yoda and Dooku

Episode I Rune Haako

POTJ Sandtrooper with four variant shoulder pauldrons

Good battle droid, SBD, and droideka, without launching features. Colored BDs--security, pilot, commander.

Geonosian Fighter

Episode I Droid Scout Tank? I have one already but the packaging says they typically travel in threes.....

Repainted Wat Tambor -- I'm fairly satisfied with the sculpt, but in particular the skin is a way wrong shade of green.

Regular Sidious (I recently snagged a loose one, but it still seems dumb not to have this figure available)

all previous released Ewoks, plus "new" Ewoks kitbashed from mixed-and-matched parts

Full cases of OTC army builders -- biker scout, sandtrooper, stormtrooper

And whatever ROTS figures end up being rare (probably the later waves)

Damn, what a nice list you came up with.   :)

Most of those definitely need to be repacked.  I might argue against a few though -

EPI Sidious - not that it's a bad sculpt, but it was a pegwarmer before (at least in MO, and the ROTS version is awesome

EPI Rune Haako - cool figure, but I want to see a ROTS version first

EPI Battle Droid - like the knee joints, but other than that this figure looks poor compared to the later versions in my opinion

Tusken Ambush Anakin - just seemed like a bad pegwarmer in my parts, really don't like the action feature

Blue Coruscant Guard - don't know if you were talking about the POTJ one - I want to see them keep re-releasing the ROTS version

Motti/Piett - jus think we need new sculpts of them

That was a fantastic list though - I enjoyed reading it and thinking back to when those figures were in stores.  Most were either hard to find or were pretty hot figures.

Was it? I can hardly even remember ... it all runs together. :P However he was in AOTC since then, and the figure hasn't been made available, which seems odd since we got characters like Ayy Vida with even less screen time and much less importance.

I don't think ROTS Emperor Palpatine counts because he's different visually -- uber-wrinkled gray skin instead of normal -- and technically speaking it's a different character. And this is one of the aspects I'm really trying to stay spoiler-free on so I'd appreciate if we don't delve too deep here....

I have one, and I'd like a couple more for army building purposes. And I didn't remember it having an action feature?  ???

Yeah, I meant the POTJ one. There's actually some costume differences between TPM and ROTS.

The TPM version has an open-faced helmet and twin horsehair crests

while the ROTS version has a black visor and a truncated solid single crest.

I have one of the POTJ version but I'd like a couple more since they seem to travel in groups.

Motti/Piett - jus think we need new sculpts of them

Good point. Just redo all the officers -- Piett, Motti, Old Tarkin, and whoever else needs doing (Tagge, Needa, Jerjerrod). And of course re-release the black-uniformed POTJ version ad infinitum ... maybe with an olive-green variant to shake things up. That figure is awesome.

Agreed. Most of these I've been lusting after for years. ;) Some of them are so obvious I honestly can't understand why they haven't been rereleased already. Though I really doubt the exclusives will be reused (Figrin, Oola, Kabe & Muftak) since that would nullify the whole point of it being an exclusive.

The only repacks that would interest me on any level are troops and army builders.  Other than that, I'd rather there be only new figures - and at worst resculpts.

98% of previously released figures can be had on ebay for very reasonable prices for people who may have missed them the first time around.

Not the ones we're looking for!

See Amidala Acension, Sio, McQ Stormie, Motti, TC-14, R2-B1, Sidious Holo, etc.

Sorry Valin - for some reason I thought you meant the Anakin from that scene, not the Tusken Raider.  I didn't read too well... have a bad night last night.  Yeah, I'd love to see that Tusken again.

Maybe they could just resculpt that EPI Sidious with a removable hood?  I think that would be kinda cool.

I do realize there is a mask difference on the Royal Guards... maybe it would be possible to use the ROTS body with the POTJ helmet?  Might work out ok.  In fact, I think I am going to attempt that in my next customizing binge.

Ah, I see.

Incidentally, Tuskens have always seemed comparatively scarce at the stores I frequent.

I'm not opposed to repacks by any streach and am very surprised that when the oppretunity became available that stuff like Motti and Sio Bible weren't at the top of the list.

Lots of great suggestions here. Let's just hope they wouldn't do them all at once. :P

Although I'd like to see most figures either be new, or newly resculpted, if they can't do that all around there are a few things I wouldn't mind seeing repacked (and also what many others have mentioned).  Some of my choices might seem odd, but I did miss out on much of the POTF2 line...and it would be ok to see this at the stores again...if we have to have recarded figures:

VOTC Figures (Han, Chewie, Stormtrooper, Fett, Lando are pretty definitive to me..for those versions of the characters...if they want to repack them - especially Stormies - they are welcome to)
2-1B (POTF2)
4-LOM (POTF2)
Zuckuss (POTF2)
Max Rebo Band - I'd really like to see these, in some form.
Bespin Han Solo (POTJ)
C-3PO (ROTS - maybe add a silver lower leg)
Admiral Ackbar (POTF2 - resculpt preferred though)
Nien Nunb (POTF2 - ditto)
Jawas (Commtech/POTF2)
Tusken Raider (Saga)
Yoda (OTC)

Actually, the majority of these (particularly older ones), I'd rather see get resculpted...but if that isn't going to happen, repacks would be ok....of course, after we get new figures as well.  There are other army builders I'd like to see as well, but really, outside of the VOTC Stormtrooper (and Sandtrooper from Evolutions), the others (Snowtrooper, Scout Trooper) could be improved upon I think.  I'd rather see new versions of the rest.

Repacks?

I'd dig seeing:

-VOTC Stormtroopers (shipped by the truckload)...  Pack in a shoulder pauldron, variations (shot, dirty, clean, etc.), and I'm there.

-VOTC Chewie with collar/chains

-VOTC Leia (with a softgoods hood that works in place of the plastic hood).

-ROTS Royal Guard (Blue and Red), but include pikes (with or without the rifle, but nice if it had that too).

-ROTS 3PO...  Good 3PO to see re-release with a silver leg.

-Ree Yees.

-Kitbash DST (ROTJ)...  DST head w/POTJ Imp Officer body.

-Admiral Motti.

-Clones...  SA Sculpt with Utapau, 501st, Red Shocktrooper decoes, as well as a green (maybe Kashyyyk camo?) paintjob.  Include the right rifle too, ditch the carbine.  I'd take lots of EU variants though like the Neeyo Grunt Target figure, Night-Camo/Stealth one, etc...

-VOTC Boba Fett (ROTJ and ESB paint variants).

-VOTC Fett w/Jango Paintjob (kitbash a removable helmet/Kamino Jango head on there, and sweet!).

-Imperial Officer (all 3 headsculpts), as well as black/grey suit variants.

-POTC Figs (Pablo Jill, Yarua, Cantina Trio)

-Battledroid from the Naboo 4-pack (red and tan variants)

I'm sure I could think of others...  Lots of stuff worth repacking.  I agree with figures like the Cantina band Member, Muftak/Kabe, and perhaps some others too...  Like I'd take a repaint of some of the Cantina Cinema Scene figures too.

Hell I'd even kinda dig the Dianoga (2-piece) from the Trash Compactor sets to be released on a basic card. :)  It was THE reason to get those sets if you ask me (I have mine attacking Kyle Katarn).

Speaking of...  I'd put Kyle and the Darktrooper out together just to see how they maybe do?  I like both figures, wouldn't mind a new Kyle being made, but I'd like seeing how they did released with film figures.  Test the EU waters with what you've already got that sold well the first time around.

Without seeing what others have posted so as not to be influenced and based on the various waves that have threads in this section here's what figures I think should be re-packed. I'll also base it on 3-4 repacks per wave, assuming Hasbro does 2-3 new figures per wave. I'll also go on the premise that the only changes to figures will be paint ops...

Battle of Naboo
* Ascenion Gun Padme - A nice nod for collectors who didn't get this surprisingly detailed figure at the end of the Ep1 line
* Sio Bibble -  See A.G. Padme
* Security Battle Droid - So long as the plastic they use doesn't warp this figure from the POTJ, I'd like to pick up a few more. Perhaps even do color variants for BDs.

Battle of Endor
* Teebo - Perhaps this can be a repainted Ewok to be a different one or it can be the same Ewok we know and er like?
* Chewbacca - The VOTC Chewbacca has the head sculpt from ROTJ so he fits in nicely here. It would be a great way to get this figure at the $5 pricepoint
* Emperor's Royal Guard - Technically we see this guy during the Battle of Endor scenes. :) Repacked the ROTS guard with the staff from the AOTC guard and we have a winner.

Battle of Hoth
* AT-AT Driver - Another figure that wasn't easy to obtain at the end of the POTF2-FF line and I think still fits into the line today.
* Snowtrooper - Unless they're planning on making a new one, they have to repack the Saga/OTC Snowtrooper.
* K-3PO - Always fun to have a droid re-released, especially since we can repaint him if we already have one. :)

Battle of Geonosis
* Droid Factory Padme - This was a really good figure, was quite poseable and displays nicely.
* Geonosian Warrior - If you're going to have the Battle of Geonosis, it's best to have one of these guys in there, specifically the one that did NOT come with Massiff!
* Super Battle Droid - The one that came with the Deluxe Yoda should be used here, but again only if they use a stronger plastic so it doesn't get warped!
* SA Clonetrooper - Are you kidding me, if they don't re-release this guy it will be a travesty of justice of EPIC proportions!

Battle of Death Star (since this appears to be not specific toward either DS, I'll mix both together)
* VOTC Stormtrooper - See the SA Clonetrooper above. There is no longer a reason to use the CT Stormie when we have this guy.
* Admiral Motti - Can always use another specific Imperial Officer and it helps make this one available to those who didn't find him in the past.
* Imperial Officer - any of the head sculpts from POTJ/Saga, a definite army builder.
* CT Darth Vader - It's a nice representation of Vader on the first Death Star

Battle of Tatooine (I am guessing this is different from the Battle of Carkoon wave, but still not specific on a particular movie, especially  with no battles taking place outside of ROTJ. But I'll go ahead and assume this is from ANH)
* VOTC Han Solo - See the VOTC Stormtrooper, no reason not to re-release him, screw the CT Han!
* Sandtrooper - Well this is happening based on the carded sample from Comic-con, but its worth re-mentioning
* C-3PO - Re-release the ROTS C-3PO with sand and dirt paint ops or hell even a clean one.
* Tusken Raider - Use the Saga 03 Tusken with or without the removable head option

Battle of Coruscant (I'm guessing this is from ROTS, but perhaps it could encompass the ground battle seen at the end of the Clone Wars?)
* Jedi Pilot Obi-Wan - This ROTS figure is without a doubt the best Prequel Obi-Wan figure ever and deserves to be re-released whenever it is needed.
* Battle Damaged Destroyer Droid - This figure from the Ep.1 line should be re-released but using the plastic that was used in 99, not the one they've been using 02.
* SA Clonetrooper - At first I was having a hard time figuring out what to put here, but then I realized this was a no-brainer. :)

As you may have noticed I emphasized army builders and refrained from main characters as much as possible. I figure they'll be doing a lot of main characters as the "new" or "resculpted" figures in each wave, so it didn't seem necessary to me to mention main characters unless there was a perfect figure already out there such as the VOTC Han and ROTS Pilot Obi-Wan. Time will tell though how smart Hasbro is and how they utilize those great figures they do have as compared to some of the crappy figures they'll be likely to use as we saw in the OTC line.
