Ok, here is a recipe -

head - Sahara figure
torso - OTC Dagobah Luke
arms - OTC Dagobah Luke
hands - ROTS Ki Adi Mundi
tunic drape - ROTS Agen Kolar
legs - Evolutions Dooku

Then I used black thread and some lace material for the hair and the straps on his bicep and wrists.  I could probably rework the hair some, but it was a pain.

Gotta go to bed.  Have had trouble with that lately.

I decided to put the Quinlan to a bit of action, here is a Rykrof Enloe preview for an upcoming photonovel.  I was able to rework his hair a bit, I'm much more happy with it now.

Chewie, Quinlan looks great.  Great part choices for this figure.  and I like the soft goods hair.  I can't wait to see him in action in your photo-novel.

Very nice Quinlan. Are those black shoelaces for hair? Good idea.

I just commented over at scum. I think this figure is great chewie.
I would only change the expression on his face. Vos always was
mean looking... I'd give him some eyelashes and then make
his eyebrows more slanted like he's frowning.

Phalanxx - Thank you Phalanxx.  I am pretty happy with the hair now as I teaked it just a bit last night as seen in the photonovel preview pics.  It may not look too different by the pics, but in person it is better.

Master_Phruby - Not actual shoelaces, but some sort of lace-like material I found at Walmart - some of the same stuff I used on the Tonnikas.

Glassman - Thanks, I might make some subtle changes to the eyes like you said.  He always has an intense look in his eyes so I will try and capture that better.   Kind of hard for me to do!  Maybe slightly thicker eyebrows like you suggested would be good, I don't know if I have the skills for eyelashes but I can try.

While I like his hair more than previous Quinlan's I've seen, it just looks too rastafarian.  However, I have no alternate suggestion, since soft goods hair on an action figure either looks fabio-esque, rastafarian, or like they took a ride on a motorcycle with wet hair.

I know he has an olive complexion in the comics -- maybe it's the lighting or camera -- but he looks kind of greenish here.

His arms, legs, and torso look perfect, in my opinion.  Nothing out of proportion, and a great mix of parts to achieve the necessary look.

All in all, probably my favorite Quinlan custom to date, good job.

chewie definately best quin i've ever seen, the hair looks great but whatever happened to trying out the predator braids we'd talked about so long ago?  and i have to agree with bjardkerr the base color for the skin looks a little corpse-ish.

Thanks, I think the skin looks more realistic in person.  As for the Rastafarian look, Quin's hair does have that look in a way, but I know this doesn't look great.

For the Predator braids, that's still a possibility.  I'm not entirely happy with this custom right now.

A little off topic, but is there an easy explanation on how to create the lightsaber effects with Photoshop?  I've been wanting to try that but I'm not sure where to start.

Hi Brent - I actually don't have photoshop, I have a program called photoimpact - it's not as highly touted as photoshop, but it's pretty decent for what I try and do at least.

With photoimpact, I can create a linear shape and adjust the color - I just make a straight line and adjust the color.  Then I add on a second shape with the same proportions, just thinner and shorter and make it a white color, and put it right on top of the original lightsaber color.  So that makes a two-tone lightsaber effect.  Same with the blaster fire.

Hope that helps some.

Works, for me.  I'll have to try it with photoshop.  Just sounds like a couple of layers to me.  I like it.  Thanks
