Though having never played Bounty Hunter and thus not having a reference for him, I can't critique any specific details on this custom, other than to say it looks pretty sweet.  He looks like he's a roided up mandalorian hell-bent on destruction. My only advice to you is to maybe reduce the white in his eyes, makes him look like he's bug-eyed (unless he is supposed to be  :P), that's something I've had problems with on many occassions when repainting a face.

Keep up the great work, happy customizing!

"Whistler" - Corran Hornīs R2-unit !!
« Reply #33 on: September 16, 2003, 01:47 PM »
I thought its time to show of some new again. Originally I planned to do a Corran Horn too to match the cover of the novel "I, Jedi" but I just cant find tohe right parts. ( For some reason I just want to stick to "original Star Wars" part and not including other line pieces )

Anyway this is "Whistler", Hornīs unit. Its just a simple repaint this time. I used a SAGA Coruscant Sentry R2. I removed the batteries and filled the hole on the top speaker.

That's awesome Scooby!  Can you tell me exactly what brand/type of paint you used for that?  I still haven't done any customizing yet, but I really want to start trying soon.  Please let me know... thanks!  :)

I use waterbased Acryl colors. The ones I have are a german product from "RAYHER Hobby".
They come in 15ml bottles and have a wide range of colors.
The green used on Whistler is a custom mixed of dark green, white and a little grey.

IMO I can work with them better than with REVELL , TAMIYA  or something similar.

Nice work Peter!  I love doing Astromech Units and you have done a very nice one here!

To Chris

Yeah waterbased acrylics is the way to go, I personally have always used Citadel (you can get them at Wizards of the Coast shops if there is one in your local mall)

great looking whistler there. how'd you have the patience to do the lines on the dome is beyond me :) I did a whistler much like that once, but couldn't paint straight enough to get that effect so i did a combo whistler from I, Jedi and Union...
