According to one of my Target sources, that box set that will be on sale at Target is most likely not the new discs that came out on Tuesday (with the bonus OT films).

It's just last year's DVD box set, you know - this one, the one without the bonus disc:

I know that my local Target still has them for $39.99, and that price matches the RS report... I'm working to confirm it, but take that RS report with a grain of salt for now.

Shoot, I was hoping it was the new releases as well.  At $32ish, I could justify buying it (and the wife would give the o.k. as well :P).  I was kind of hoping that report would be true, but what Jeff is saying makes sense too.

I've thought about sending in for that second Season 6 box, but I'd guess that the offer is expired by now? Season 6 has been out for about a year now, but who knows.

20th Century just cashed my check yesterday for Season 6 and I sent it out almost two months ago.  YAY!  I finally get to toss Homer's head out.

Grabbed that SW tin at Best Buy this morning. Luckily, it was the last one they had. If they were actually LE's, with serial numbers, it would have been sheer madness. I probably shouldn't have waited so long as it is.

I finally discovered Amazon for DVD purchases. Picked up Battlestar 2.5 last week and ordered X-Men 3 and the Little Mermaid yesterday.

Screw Amazon - deep discount dvd has just about everything, usually a little cheaper than anywhere else (not always the case on new stuff) and they ship any order regardless of size for free.

Picked up these in the 2/$11 bin at Wally:

Even to my layman's eye, the transfer and image quality on the latter is positively wretched. :'( An extremely barebones DVD--good movie though.

This was on sale at Best Buy:

Three other recent acqusitions:

(It was on sale at Target for like $19 bucks. :o)

I wasn't able to find Serpent and the Rainbow for 4.88 - but Walmart has a new section in their DVD aisle with a bunch of Tartan films for 8.88 - I picked up Doppelganger and R-Point and will probably grab a few more later this week.

I have a few close friends and a sibling working at Border's (Books, Music, Movies, Cafe) and they have told me that Borders has had a "price match" deal. Basically, they'll match the cheaper web prices. I haven't tried it yet because of the existing discount I've been using, but it may be true. again, I don't want to assure you they'll make the deal, having never done it myself, but I have been told to do so. Might as well try. :)

I've uh..pretty much sold all my DVD's. I think I have 45 left now? Just don't feel the need to own a "library" anymore. I like the money a little more. Besides, with the new G2 HD-DVD players, and me being so spoiled on HD programming, I think I'll go that route.
