I think I need my head examined
« on: May 1, 2003, 01:25 PM »
OK, this is sad.  I was digging around my office, looking for something work related and I became rather appalled at what I have in here as far as toys go.  I receive all my toys at my work address.  For two reasons.  The primary one being that nobody leaves crap on my doorstep to either get rain damaged (as my fan club Wuhers did) or stolen (still knocking on wood).  Here everything is delivered inside and gets signed for by me or someone else.  Good system.

Anyhoo, all of my trade stuff for star wars is here (not listed), aging appropriately as it is stored in a tupperware tub.  But, I have lots of filing cabinets in here and the only reason for most of them (or so it seems) is to store toys.  Yikes!  Below is a list of what is just sitting around my office, MIMP or NM in condition.

Gumhead

This is all in addition to what is on display, that includes: all the regular McFarlane goalies including the Olympic sets, Maple Leafs and Red Wings 3 packs.  Star wars display includes Vader gum head, micromachines death star, Vader palmtalker, Maul cup topper and cup.  Simpsons figs include all Homers to date except GITDH Homer and Colonel Homer (Mr. Plow coming) plus THOH1-3 and Burns Manor playset with pajama Burns and original Burns, vacation Smithers and Hank Scorpio.  Ironman and Captain America are sitting, well, lying, on a shelf.  Gargoyle spiderman is hanging there too.

I have 17 empty boxes, 150 feet of bubble wrap and a garbage bag full of styrofoam peanuts in here too.  Oh yeah, and some work junk.

I think I need to rent a truck.

Duh.  Tell us something we don't already know, Brent...

That's the best system, if that's an option for folks.  That's the exact same thing that I do, and for the exact same reasons.  Of course, I haven't turned my office into a Toy Museum like Brent here has...  Don't you have any bosses, managers, co-workers that are like "what the hell's up with all this stuff dude?!"...  Must have a lot of room there.  I think a rental truck is most definitely in order.  Not to mention trimming down your out of control, various toy line, collectible interests!  :o  It's the only way you can get yourself some cool Code 3 vehicles after all...   ;)

Yeah, we've heard all about your bubble wrap already, bubble boy.   ::)

Care to further enlighten us on these exciting packaging materials as well?!   :-X

Well, in a few days, you should be able to also add a Riddell Vader noggin, the Holiday Droids, and an extra NRG to your ever-growing office collection of STUFF.  Enjoy!   :-*

Funny, as I was posting this, I kept seeing a metaphorical baseball in my head that I knew you'd hit out of the park.  Good job.

Yup, that's why there is so little of the Star Wars stuff out.  Social engineering experiment of a sort.  They love the hockey stuff (small, hockey mad town - home of Eddie Belfour - goalie for Leafs).  Simpsons stuff is well received, possibly owing to my general likeness to Homer ;) but Star Wars stuff?  Yuck, that's for kiddies, isn't it?  I used to have a fair bit more up, but it wasn't worth the crap and abuse.

Hey, at least ya know my stuff I trade is coming well wrapped.  You're just jealous. :P  Maybe because the bubbles remind you of what's under that sweater :o

The VAder helmet may stay here.  It will be a nice quality piece, relative to the other stuff.

OK, this is sad.

Yep, that about summed it up right there.  ;)

That's some serious collection of stuff you got going there. I think your office holds more stuff than my current collection room at home. You're going to be hating it if they ever tell you that you're moving into another office. Though you might want to ask for a 2nd office anyway, just to get some work done as that one is so full of distractions, how do you ever get a thing done in there?

You had me at "sad."

Right now all I've got are five Star Trek Minimates, the Trash Compactor sets, and a SpyKids2 Guppy vehicle. But since my office is so littered with material from Disney, Marvel, Mattel and Warner Bros., the toys blend right in.

My office might soon turn into a safe have for ALL my toys in the near future as I'm close to buying a house. I am positively dreading the thought of moving my collection, even if it's only three blocks. I don't do "tedious" well. Instead, I'll put as much of my collection as I can into my office space for the time being, a bit at a time, until we close the deal.

As a Star Wars licensee, I won't get ridiculed. I proudly display the Ackbar to Zuckuss poster on my office wall, professionally framed and matted. If anything, some co-workers will be jealous. (I'll definitely have to lock up at night!)
Post sober.
