And...Contra, oh man how many games of Contra did I play?
Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start

I will never forget that

wasn't it Select then Start? its been so long, I might be wrong.
It was Select than Start for 2 player only
Hotter than Bond.  Cooler than Bullitt

I remember my spoiled brat of a cousin got one before me and I was pissed.  I got one for my birthday, along with Super Mario Bros and Pro Wrestling (Starman was the best, with his flying X chop and flip kick).  One day I rented Punch out and me, my brother and my father stayed up until about 3 am to play it.  My thumbs were calloused to no end.

I remembering subscribing to Nintendo Power to get all the hints, clues, secrets, etc. and to get the scoop on all the new upcoming games, which was really the only way seeing this was way before the internet's time.

Some of favorite games included all the SMB, Mega Man, Contra, Castlevania, Tecmo Bowl...all the classics.  Never was a big fan of Zelda, though.

My sister-in-law stills has her and my wife's from their childhood hooked up at her mom's house and I still play it every once in a while.  Goo stuff.

Ahh..Castlevania, the first game I ever conquered!!  Is this available on Game Cube?
I haven't played these games in soooo long.  I remember burning dinner one night though as I was playing Zelda...that was one of the rare moments my hubby lost his temper.  (Ok, so maybe I forgot to pick the kids up from their friends house too but...hell, I was SO CLOSE to the end!!)

I like Punch Out, but I can never get past King Hippo.   :-[  Any hints?

When he raises both arms, you hit him in the face and his boxing shorts fall down. Then you just keep throwing body blows at his bandaged area. If you knock him down once, he's finished. :)

Thanks for the tip!  Of course, now I'm stuck on Bald Bull.  Man, I hate it when he does that stupid bull charge move.

When he charges you have to block his punches (by pushing down on the controller).  I think he punches like 5 times or something.  After the last punch he throws and you've blocked, punch him in the face.  Basically the only time you can knock him out is after his bull charge, so do the above a few times.

Scott, do you know when the price drop on GC takes effect?  I was at TRU today and they still had it at $150.

Yeah I just read the link RS had and it's effect today.  Guess TRU is a little slow.

Gamecube at KB Toys is $99.  Don't know if it's that price anywhere else though.

So....

Anyone have Gamecube recommendations?

I plan on eventually picking up:

Mario Sunshine
Zelda Wind Waker
Metroid
Mario Kart
Mario Party
Rogue Squadron II and III
Pikimin
Super Monkey Ball

I have a lot of stuff for PS2 already so I guess I'm looking for GC only games to pick up...

I had fun playing Luigi's mansion and Super Smash Brothers. You should also pick up a Wavebird Wireless Controller. They're made by Nintendo and are really great.

But most of those games you listed are Players Choice, which means they're only about $20-$25.
