My Day of Customizing Ends in Disaster
« on: February 26, 2006, 12:56 PM »
Well,

I finally earned my Customizing Battle Scars. I was working on this Sweet Looking Imperail Pin-Up Girl and had to cut a piece of Plastc w/ my very dull Hobby Kinife, which I had planed on replacing Last night but I fogot the New Knife in my Cart >:( So I used my Dull one anyhow :-[ How do u get a dull knife to cut? Put all your muscle into it. at least that what I did :-[ So, I sliced right through the Pastic Piece, through the corner of my work table, Right through the Tip of my Lift Undex Finger, and across the crease of My pinky finger :'( I'd show you some pics but I think it's just too nast and might make someone sick. So, I'm out of the customizing Buisness for at least a week or so until my fingers heal.

Crap man... be careful!  That sucks but I guess it could have been worse.... I've had a few cuts doing it, but nothing really bad in about 4 years or so... if the cuts aren't too wide, you could try putting superglue over the cuts, that's what I usually do.  Maybe during this time you can work on your photonovel a bit?

 :-X Jeez Fritz that sucks.
I was using an x-acto before and I used all my strength, it went through the clone and sliced my left thumb nail into 2 pieces.

Fritz - Ouch!  So far I've been mostly healthy from customizing injuries.  However, every time I grab the dremel I think I'm about to loose my fingers.

Rest up those figures and get well soon.

It reminds me of the time when Owen was doing some cutting and ended up sitting in a pool of blood. Dude, be careful or you'll end up looking like some of your dead clones.

:o Oh man I'm sorry that happend to you man.  :(
GUYS here is a little tip when using a Xacto blade to cut hard plastic. take a lighter and heat the blade for a few seconds then while the blade is hot, you can cut thru the hardest plastic like butter.

OW-CHI!  Man that bites.  I've had minor cuts, only about an 8th of an inch deep.  Now my brother did something very similar to your incident.  I cant rem if it was an exacto or a screw driver, but he did a slice from the tip of his thumb to about half way through his finger nail and flesh.  That was totally nasty and bloody. Something like 3-4 stitches

CHEWIE:  I've never heard of the crazy glue thing u mentioned.  I dont think id have the courage to do that!   :o

Ya know, super glue is very simular to the glue doctors use to close up wonds. For smaller cuts they don't stitch them together anymore but instead krazy glue the skin back together.

Seriously, didnt know that, thats sooooo; not cool.  I guess it doesnt get infected from the glue, or Docs wouldnt use it, but still.  that gives me an idea, I get these headaches; so if I glue my wife's mouth shut that should remedy them right?

As my dioramaing work often involves a table saw, I think of the guy I know that cut off his thumb and index finger everytime before I turn it on.  It gives me pause.  One mistake with a table saw it one too many.
