Hi all,

I addition to collecting and customizing toys, I'm also a bit of a fan artist.  With a young family I don't get as much time as I would like to draw (especially this summer) but here are a few of my pieces.

The Sith's Herald

The Rayven

The Kindred Spectre

The Eventide

The Where Credit's Due  (Designed on a request)

Vourren Starfighter

Evolved TIE (Designed on a request)

I-Wing (Designed on a request)

O-Wing Mark 2

O-Wing Mark 7

Jedi Master Jacoby Bardonna

Jedi Knight Jorden Farseer

Darth Temptuous

Jedi Master Trouper Siralos

Dutchabeen

Tat Argota

You can see the rest of my online art here.   Enjoy.  Feedback and constructive criticism is welcome!

Great work... I like how you bring elements of canon Star Wars craft into your own designs - like the Y-Wing's engine 'tail' in your Sith Herald and the sleek cockpit style of the Naboo craft in your Rayven. The only constructive criticism I really have is that I prefer your pencil sketches over the digitally colored stuff. The Bardonna is awesome.

Very cool stuff!  What stands out to me is the how you changed the 2 O-wings.  It's very cool how the mark 2 was much more blocky and agressive, had sort of a WW2 feel to it.  But the mark 7 was much more futureistic, with more droids and a sleeker design.  I really liked that.

Wow! That's some really creative work. I wish I could draw out concepts like these, but alas...I'm a strong back-weak mind guy.

Hey, thanks everyone!  I appreciate the comments.  I actually have desings in mind for two new vessels, and about 20 other character drawings I want to complete.  I have one other project to finish up first though.

Angry_Ewok, I guess I have to agree.  I tend to like my results better in pencil.  In all fairness, the four digital pieces you see here are my first four, so I'm really still finding my way into that medium.

These are really nice looking.  The ships look "right", for  the Star Wars universe.  As far as color, the work you're doing is very good, but maybe you should try putting flat color (Use the multiply level in Photoshop) over the rendered pencill drawings.  It will give you a new look that you might like.  Aslo, when coloring on the computer, always put a bit of the complimentary color into your chosen color.  It will help the colors feel richer and and more earthy. For instance, if you choose a blue on the color slider, put in just a tiny bit (maybe 5%) of yellow and red. If it helps, try working in CMYK, as opposed to RGB.  CMYK is more like mixing real paint.

It would be cool to see you color one of the ships!

Hope you don't mind the tips!---Mike

Wow, it's been a while since I was in here.  Very busy Holidays.

I'm not currently taking any classes.  Years ago, in high school, I clashed with the teacher becasue all he taught was copying images and still life.  "If you can't see it, you can't draw it"  Whatever.

So, aside from some technique, I am primarliy self taught.

I have done customs of many of my characters.

This is a piece I started working on a few weeks ago, after finishing the book, Darth Bane, Path of Destruction.  It is of Darth Bane and his new apprentice Rain (later to become Darth Zannah) looking out upon an uncertain future for the Sith.

I also finished a non-SW project for a friend in early December.

Homer: "Every time I learn something new, it pushes old stuff out.  Like remember when I took that home wine making course and forgot how to drive?"

Marge: "Homer, you were drunk!"
