Count me in for this battle pack as well!

The other day I was thinking of an Imperial Forces Battle Pack with:
2 x Stormtrooper
2 x Death Star Trooper
1 x Commander

Talk about an army builders dream! That would sell like crazy. I'd buy 2 or 3 immediately, for one because I can't find a Death Star Trooper in my area!
Hasbro, ball jointed heads suck! They make figures look like they've been hung by a noose. Please use neck ball joints like the late 80's GI Joes.

Looks like you got three of these figures coming this year!  But I'm still hoping for a space armor Saesee Tiin.

Nah it's SCU-B...heh heh

And, Rune Haako, excellent idea all. I get each set. (Though the figs from the Coruscant set are all being release soon or have been released except Saesee Tiin in Armor. So that I'd hold of on, if Saesee gets the single card treatment. Still a great idea though.)

Battle of Saleucami:
1X Commander Neyo
1X Neyo grunt (the one on the speeder bike)
3X Target Neyo-ish troops

I'd SO totally get this set. Sure I wouldn't need the extra Neyo's, but they'd make great custom fodder, or giveaways, or trades, etc.
The Neyo speederbike grunt is good to build a little and the Target Neyo troops would compliment his legion nicely and at the same time help to distinguish Neyo from the rest of them.

One reason we have these battle packs is for Hasbro to make money on old tooled molds. If the figure in hard to make (ie with articulation, etc) you would not see it in a pack. One new figure should be the norm, but with Harbro the are trying to max the profit on these sets. Two new figures is pushing it in their eyes. I could see some of these battle packs, but the ones with all the vintage type figures and heavy articulation would be out of the question in most cases. Granted I would love to get 5 really cool figures in one set, but as it stands now Hasbro only wants to do Clone Trooper sets that are any good. You can see this with the older sets where we got some okay new figures, 3 to some as they found they are not worth the cost so then now they are all repacks/repaints. These are really only dream sets with most of what people have came up with, but if I could have a pack or two here are my picks:

Tatooine Purchase of the Droids battle pack:
TAC Jawa x 2 (maybe one with new head or even if they retooled an old POTF2 head to work that would be cool with me)
New Owen Lars (would like articulation, but might be asking for too much)
fill out the rest with some Droids (old and new, maybe some smaller ones like M-HYD, or any of those other droids would be cool)
And I liked when they added some diorama item in there, so a Moisture Vaporator or 2 would rock
I just would like for there to be no main characters

Funeral of Shmi Skywalker battle pack:
Cliegg Lars with hoverchair
Owen Lars
Beru Whitesun
Padme Amidala
Anakin Skywalker
but I don't think any figure that has been made before would work for any of them, so they would all be new. I know I'm dreaming on that one.

I think we all could come up with really cool battle pack, it is just if they would fit into Hasbro's view on them and can still make them the most money possible. That is really all Hasbro cares about in the long run anyway, because if they cared what we wanted I think all figures would have super articulation and be the most accurate they could make them.

"Ultimate" Battle Packs
« Reply #118 on: September 24, 2007, 10:42 AM »
With all the talk about the Hoth pack coming to Target (likely sometime this fall/winter), it got me to thinking more about this "Ultimate" Battle Pack concept (which is what the Hoth's box says from what I can tell).  We know there is an Endor pack rumored as well, and hopefully we'll see pics of that before too long.  The Geonosian set currently at TRU could probably be classified here as well, as its big and more expensive (I'm not sure if it says "ultimate" on the box or not).  Anyways, if this is a trend that we'll see from now on - larger battle packs that are store exclusives - what would you like to see done in this line?  I think its a great chance to get that spiffy Jabba w/dais and a bunch of his cronies in a battle pack, and I'm sure there are other options as well.  Any ideas?

EDIT:  I see there is a "Battle Pack Ideas" thread in here already, so sorry if this duplicates that.  This is more specifically the "larger sized (and unfortunately priced)" packs, but if they should be merged that is fine.

I think the concept of large Battle packs can go either way for Hasbro - major success or a big failure.  That all depends on what sort of quality the put into these, and the selection of items included.

For example, if they throw together a set from TPM, they need to be careful.  They need to decide what will really work and what won't.  If they put together a Podracing scene, I'd be afraid it would bomb big time.  But if they put a Battle of Theed set together, it might do ok.  For a set like that I'd be happy with an AAT, a Naboo speeder (new paint deco) and several army builders, and good versions of Qui Gon, Kenobi and maybe the Accension Gun Amidala.

As for the Geonosis set, I'm passing for sure.  I think it's a good item for newer collectors or a good Christmas gift for a kid, but to me it's nothing special... now if they'd done something like this, I'd be more interested because it would be more exciting -

- Acklay
- Picador w/ Geonosian Rider
- Battle Droid x 3 (red)
- TAC Super Battle Droid x 1
- Evolutions Anakin
- Outlander Club Obi Wan (w/ new tunic that doesn't have a molded on lightsaber)
- ROTS Ki Adi Mundi
- ROTS Shaak Ti

That's a much more appealing set to me, and I'd definitely have gotten it then.

There's many more for each film they could make too.  I'm hoping for some sort of set from ROTS, a Wookiee Battle set could be very cool.
